Her voice topping over at times is an incredible talent, i'd like to see all these famous celebrity crap pop stars nowadays repeating this. No way they could. Liz' vocals are amazing and were so underrated for such a long time...
Well, don't you think they could if they wanted to? It's a technique. Problem is people don't care too much about these things in general anymore. Beyonce love CT though I've heard. Maybe she'll do these things soon? 🤣
She had to stop doing it (and the weird vibrato) because it would have wrecked her voice, at least according to the voice coach she was seeing. This from an interview in Melody Maker (or NME?) circa 84-85.
I happen to think that they are a marvelous band live, because I rate them on much more than just Liz's singing. And she usually does quite a fine job. She has the unenviable task of trying to walk a line of all of the parts she records , in a live setting. She uses an almost magical vibrato skill to help it along, with the swooping voice that we all know and love. About the only time I have not been a fan of her singing style was, ironically, the only time I got to see them live, in 1994. It was still a magical experience that I will always cherish in a venue that seems to have some reverence amongst CT fans for an American venue, anyway, The Newport in Columbus, OH. The site of one of their rare shows in 1985...
Es cierto me parece increíble que tremenda banda nunca se preocupo en dejar un legado decente en vivo a diferencia de otras bandas de su época, una lastima, ni siquiera un álbum en vivo, grrrrrrrrr
I FUCKING love Spangle Maker!!! Used to look forward to playing it on the B-side of Pearly Dewdrops Drops EP :O))) And this is a brilliant version. Whole concert is!
Interesting they played in the small city Örebro. Iggy Pop performed in the same city 1978 but stopped the concert after 3 songs due to the sub group "raggare" throwed bottles and stones towards Iggy.
This is an unusually pretty strong live performance from the Cocteau Twins and Liz Fraser in particular. Wish the other times I have seen them live the performance were this great. They maybe great in the studio, but in a live setting they are the weakest in the 4AD roster. I remember how a fledgling Dead Can Dance and X-mal Deutschland opened for them back in '83. Lisa Gerrard and Anja Huwe just blew the audience away.
Very strong performance. I agree with others: saw them twice, and Liz's voice tends to peter out quickly so she overcompensates by doing the Sinead O'Connor shriek, which ruins the songs. However, here she is right on the money,. Great show.
u r so WRONG---her vocals are like that because she WANTS them like that! OK? passage repentage thx loveugodbless tj kabbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious
anirvan deva Maybe it did last 18 mins, but anyway it's a jewel because you can't find many Cocteau Twins concerts in youtube, so don't waste your time complaining and enjoy
1. The spangle maker. 2. Pepper-tree. 3.Millimillenary. 4. Rococo. 5. Pearly-dewdrops´drops.
Simon: Interesting bass player and probably the best hairstyle of all time.
Blown away once again by her incredible vocalS and those guitars. A match made in heaven,

I'm a big Robin Guthrie fan,but have to purr at Simon Raymonde's tub thumping bass on Rococo;which is one of my favourite CT tracks
HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE THIS??? UTTERLY CAPTIVATING!!!
Millimillenary is such a beautiful song - great to see it live.
I FUCKING love Spangle Maker!!! Used to look forward to playing it on the B-side of Pearly Dewdrops Drops EP :O))) And this is a brilliant version. Whole concert is!
Wonderfully inventive guitar on "The Spangle Maker". Audacious and original use of guitar effects and technique. :-)

The Spangle Maker, Pepper Tree, Millimillenary, Rococo, Pearly Dewdrops' Drops
hard to believe.. only 41k views
I added them, can you not see? :)
The audience members were feeling a bit blurry, hope they recovered later.
We did. I was there, still alive.
@@goranlund2677 nice. Yes saw them in 1984 in NYC Ritz Theater.
PEPPER TREEEEEEE

De algo a nada!
what, like 20 dull audience members?
The name of the songs, please!
Full concert? It's not even 20 minutes...
better than nothing! especially when you didn't pay for it
Sure, but still it doesn't look a full concert

I'm not complaining about the beautiful 18 minutes of CC's concert, just don't put in the title "full concert" when is not.
Again: were you there in Sweden, 1984? How do you know it didn't actually last 18 minutes? Next time please upload a better version yourself.
It sucks live
The video quality or the performance
sorry andy--not better then the cure! passage rpentage thx loveugodbless tj kabbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious
Millimillenary is such a beautiful song - great to see it live.
