  • The full episode of HIGNFY with Jimmy Saville and Diane Abbott - (S17E07) as originally broadcast (Full Episode) - Interesting from about 19:30 note look on Ian Hislop's face, when asked what Jimmy 'does' in his caravan - "Anyone I can get my hands on" Note the look on his face, he looks down when he says it - Very telling indeed !!

    20:27 The moment I got creeped out.

  • @97channel
    @97channel Před 7 měsíci +13

    18:38 This moment interests me, a lot. Angus is heading somewhere, it's a loaded question. But Savile interrupts the train of thought with an unorthodox technique of refusing, accepting, building and blocking. It's something which actors learn for improv skills, I trained in it and recognised it instantly. You basically have four options in response to cues; accept and block, accept and build, refuse and block, refuse and build. But Savile somehow managed to combine all of those conflicting elements into one response. He accepted the cue on the subject of Margaret Thatcher, but refused the conversation by focussing on an irrelevant anecdote which shifted attention. He blocked the line of questioning, yet built upon the subject to his own purpose. The ultimate outcome was refusing and blocking, but he did it by combining elements which should not naturally meet. The speed in which he was able to recognise and deal with that situation is not as simple as it may seem. He was smarter than people took him, and it fascinates me that he was able to steer that conversation and avoid any one of those sharp minds present picking up the baton and running with the Margaret Thatcher line of conversation. Don't get me wrong, I don't admire the scumbag for being able to do that. But I note his intelligence, and it's a very telling moment where he demonstrates how he got away with his sick crimes when most others would have been busted decades before. He had very sharp linguistic skills, he talked his way out of situations. Look closely at his eyes, just before he responds to Angus's question. He saw where that was heading, and got in there instantly to divert it.

    The Savile jokes were pretty dark and twisted and revealing but I think the audience loved it partly because the show was full of smutty and sleazy jokes and inuendo, if he'd blurted that out on Blue Peter it would have seemed totally wrong or worrying but he could slip it in on a show like this and it just sounded like he was just being outrageous and daft when he was actually deadly serious.

    So easy to be wise after the event regarding Jimmy Savile, as can be seen by the many retrospective experts on social media.
    During a career in which he was very popular with the English public Jimmy could be seen as eccentric,odd and in my opinion attention seeking and quite frankly annoying(Although I found the Louie Theroux documentary brilliantly entertaining)
    But apart from jokes about him having sex with cadevers( note,these were jokes!) nobody seriously thought he was a sexual deviant and certainly not a paedophile.
    The jokes about him liking kids was based around the fact he presented the kids show Jim'll Fix It and not a serious suggestion he was a kiddy fiddler.
    In actual fact most rumours and gossip suggested he was a homosexual and his boasting of how many women he had slept with, his crude jokes about women and his on camera flirting with women was a smokescreen to his homosexuality.
    What we know now is a different story.
    But internet experts, dont kid yourself that you 'knew' about Jimmy, otherwise you should hang your head in shame for not doing something about it, right?

      There were investigations made against him for decades as is now known. The police regularly questioned him about allegations. A lot of this was common knowledge. It’s a given that he was protected by people who either covered it up or just did not know of his depravity.
