Welcome to the Letterman CZcams Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era. - Zábava
that jackie gleason joke was really good
The sneezing monkey was indeed a staple of the show for a while. I couldn't get enough of it.
I remember when he was on the show, as "himself", and was newly married. When Dave asked how it was going, he said "she doesn't like it when I talk about her on TV." Dave said something like "Things are off to a great start." Always remembered and still chuckle at that years later.
Joe talks a bit about his wife during his appearance on our show. Clearly he, like our host, ‘married up.’
David Stern walking out backwards is genius!
It nearly killed me, I laughed so hard
That is also solid, old-school defense!
The beauty of it is they could have just flipped the image and it would have looked like him walking to the left... but having him back out was soooooooo much better.
Joe a Grossman is a national treasure. He recently appeared on a two-part-super-fantastic-happy-time episode on our show, and we are please to announce it went ‘well.’
Herbie Hancock would be proud.
Autism humor is the best.
I love these. Hope there's enough employees to keep this series running for a long time. And when everyone's been covered, start over!
Yes! And there’s even enough for leeches to crest sub standard unofficial shows that do the same thing. Wait a minute…
We haven't gotten Rob Burnett yet. Pat Farmer, the other band members. I also wonder what moments Alan would have had, he had so many.
@@DrVVVinK total agreement. We just recorded an episode of our show with Jason Zinoman (author of Letterman: The Last Giant of Late Night) and he brought up such a good point: the tapestry of Letterman is so big that every one of these people could easily have multiple segments. Hopefully this official channel, and ones like ours attract an audience for decades, as there is enough material and insights to run indefinitely.
@@thelettermanpodcast I would love to even hear from people of Ed, the writers, actors (which I count as part of that tapestry).
David Stern walking off the stage backwards tickled my funny bone.
Don't ever stop making these - what a gift.
Yes! More urine jokes!
I agree. I hope they make one of these with Chris Elliott. And when you run out of writers and producers to recount memories of the Late Show, I hope they talk with the folks who had smaller recurring roles on the show, like Pat Farmer or the grinder girl or the guy who kept beating up Alan Kalter. Fans can't get enough of this stuff!
@@SnootchieBootchies Agree!
How did we not get Joe talking about his unforgettable performance as “Rudy,” friend of Lyle the Intern???
How he didn’t win an Emmy for that riveting performance will never be understood.
That's what I was waiting for too!
Great to hear the behind-the-scenes stories from Joe Grossman. I remember watching all of these moments. It must have been amazing to grow up watching a show and then have the opportunity to work on it. Thanks for sharing these stories Joe!
If you enjoyed these, pop next door to our channel, Joe came on for a massive two parter and told more stories, including how he got the gig.
Joe Grossman was always my favorite! ❤😂
Staff favorites are the best
The best Jerry, the BEST!
That had several laugh-out-loud moments.
I laughed very hard. Loved Joe's appearances on the show. Godspeed, sir!
You might like Joe’s appearance’s on our show as well. After all, like they say, more Grossman is not gross, man!
@@thelettermanpodcast Oh yeah, for sure! I heard about your show and am definitely going to watch!
@@The-Secret-Door Excellent. Keep your expectations to a record low, and you’ll be just fine.
That Gleason fun fact was gold!
Yay, I’ve been looking forward to seeing one of these with Joe ever since the videos started. Didn’t disappoint!
You might enjoy his two episodes on our show. Keep your expectations low, and you’ll be just fine.
Joe as Lyall the intern's homeboy was hysterical
Joe, You’re a brilliant writer and actor!
What a great segment. He came into my life as Rudy, Lyle’s friend.
As it turned out, my sense of humor is strange too. Love this one!
Ours too. Thank goodness.
Yes, Joe, that Jackie Gleason joke is a gem!
Rudy is the greatest character in TV history
Absolutely brilliant
not even Letterman has ever had Harrison Ford mimic him. Very cool.
Joe appears to be a bit of a paradox. A serious looking guy who writes comedy.
Oh, and HOLY MOLY! When you got to CBS Affiliate of the night....I was thinking you would NEVER pick the TV station where I grew up...my dad began work at KOIN TV in 1953 and retired in the 80s.
Laughed out loud - at work - several times. Great stuff
My annual viewing complete. I’d just like to say thank you, once again!
I didn't catch Dave much during this time period, but this guy is great.
Hilarious! One of those few guys who's funny in presence, whether or not he opens his mouth.
Thank you, sir, for your contributions to the show that kept me laughing for decades. And you're right, you've got a good face for that deadpan stuff. Do you have a soul?
Huzzah, I love these.
Another great Staff Favorites video! Keep them coming!
My main man Rudy. He is energized as hell.
thank you, bro
I'd like to know who wrote my favorite Fun Fact -- "13% of Americans don't care for the remaining 87% of Americans."
Great one. Hmmmm. To the research mobile!
😄 more like 50%
@@mariyamwaniki definitely true on a macro level. Eg when the only thing I know about someone is his horrendous political views, I hate him. But I have plenty of acquaintances who have those same views and by all accounts they’re lovely people.
Comedy gold.
I like that orange carpet.
Ha, that's great, his comments about the dog bed and whether or not the dog was there or not. Wonderful.
the optometrist joke is almost mitch hedgberg ...
Before I watch even a second of this video, I just want everybody to know, that this weekend I’m seeing a play in a basement if anyone wants to join
When they break out the Big Ass Ham , it's time to hold on to your wigs & keys Ladies & Gentlemen....😄
We love a good mash up.
@@thelettermanpodcast Thank you !🤓
Joe...you were the best.
It's hilarious how Joe mentions you have to find the right joke to hit Dave's target of interest as he worked on the end of the Late Show. It's the same thing Chris Elliott always said at the beginning of Late Night - if you made Dave laugh, you were going to be on.
I love Joe
"...because I have very few human emotions" 🤣
I love how he's wrongly positioned so he has to awkwardly look at us through the corners of his eyes. Joe Grossman is a genius!
DYING.
This is the best one of these SFM vids.
CBS affiliate of the night is so funny
Yes, that and the monkey were the funniest to me. These videos are terrific.
Brilliant.
This is awesome.
I'm glad that Joe Grossman the comedy writer is a little more animated.
Hey it's Lyle the interns party buddy. I always wondered if they just picked this guy off the streets. Haha
Please do favorite moments with Meg Parsont!
Yes. Also Don Giller.
Too soon. Ankle bracelet.
@@dongiller ah yes, right.
I was just trying to remember her name. Fun times.
it's the official drink of the hip-hop space program.... legend
Basketball Jones!

Kurt looks good these days.
This is it. This is the one I saved
Rudy for the win. Awesome.
I think Joe Grossman blew some pepper at that monkey.
Love the share, but you must credit Chris Elliot for the "urine" bit. Dog food, cooking oil, etc. Elliot was the pioneer.
Cool to keep the gag going, but please cite your sources.
Hey, why was the dog sometimes missing from the intro?
More fun facts please!
RUDY! Rude boy!
11:53 The highlight.
😂🏆
Good writer sure but stone faced comedy god , absolutely !
👍
They used that toilet ham joke more than once lol
If there’s anything that needs to be recycled, it’s ‘toilet stuff.’
Pat Smear is dying listening to Joe.
17:25
Didn’t Chris Elliott do something similar to the urine test back in the NBC days?
I think he drank varnish.
5:45 This is really pretty appalling, a workplace where people are afraid to speak if the boss is in the room. How did that aura develop on a comedy show?
Forgot all about those quizzes, please post some of those! and/or maybe some fun facts?
Who is Joe writing for these days?
Is he Charlie Kaufman twin brother?
I hope they also invite disgruntled employees to do these videos! If I was a disgruntled employee, I would show all the bad bits of Dave, like when he farted on camera! Or something!
Why was The Late Show hiring children as writers?
joe not funny
Nice to see a comedy writer who's in the spectrum.
Find one who isn't.
@@caesarvolz6945 that's fair.
