Who are these “interested parties “ ? The residents of Salt Lake City have the right to know!!! You bought the team you pay for it! THIS ENTIRE thing is not an investment that will work for us!
This company wants to FORCE the residents to pay for everything that we already cannot afford to do apparently with the concert hall and the convention center AFTER their company come in and knock it down to take their chunk! He said it with his own words, “ if we don’t have Culture and Convention this is not a thriving urban downtown core.” Okay we will work on it AFTER all of the other projects that are FAR more important than this “entertainment district” such as replacing the over 100 year old municipal water pipes that leech lead and many other carcinogenic toxins that are actively poisoning every single resident! We do NOT need more construction and destruction to further pollute our air as it’s already in the top 10 most polluted cities in the country and top 20 in the WORLD!!! How about we use our tax money to SAVE the Great Salt Lake! This company and their “interested parties” that live on the beach in California are not really interested for anything more than what they believe to be the most economical way for them to get a two for the price of one plus throw a few restaurants and bars plus another massive parking structure and more parking lots to pay for! The residents of Salt Lake City do not want to fund your PRIVATE ENDEAVORS! No thank you!

Despite SEG's responses, many answers lack concrete specifics about the project's execution, timelines, and financial details. I am not surprised everyone involved is backpedaling, bending, and pivoting their message to accommodate an outraged local community for their lack of a plan after 2 years of discussion. Shame on the government to just tax everyone without a plan or holding SEG to some sort of master plan or vision for the city that is not a corporate vision. I am a No vote until we see more details and can hold SEG to a contract.

I live in Salt Lake two blocks from the Delta Center. This is a great opportunity and it doesn’t need to be perfect to be beneficial. I’m encouraged that so many groups are at the table and aligned. Please don’t worry about the vocal minority that just complains and gripes about everything. Let’s keep the momentum of salt lake moving. And for those of you who don’t want to be part of a growing and dynamic city, this isn’t the place for you, sorry.
