Well...i6 does create more torque at a lower rpm then a v8 and which is why Riggs use them over a v8 to pull a load...could have a little to do with traction but the v8 couldn't push his rpms up enough to create more torque so there fore the i6 won

+RavenPrecept for torque, the inline 6 will win, but if you want more top end, then the v8 will win. I would personally choose the inline 6 for better acceleration which is fun because how often do you even hit your top speed, you know?

Jesus Christ didn’t anyone teach these geniuses the notion of “something’s got to give”!? Motor mount, u-joint, tire grip, oh wait, let big down the engine with very high journal pressure and very low oil pressure, thereby destroying the bearings, whilst simultaneously asking the transmission to do the impossible and putting it into a no-win scenario. Ever seen this arm wrestlers snap bones? Somethings got to give.

The V8 had 3.55 gears stock wheels. was on grass not pavement as i didnt wana ware my tires much yet alone break my diffs lol.. I schooled him.. Than a guy with a lifted 2.5l yj with 4.88 gearing and 33" mud grapplers with a 4 speed manual schooled me?? I was in shock.. It taugh me gearing and traction was the name of the game. Im sure the 5.2l with 3.73 gears would have pulled me too. But i have matured and stoped torturing my rig. Traction and gearing seemed to be the name of the game though.

"Elevator" has already lost some torque with those over sized wheels and tires which provided him more clearance at the cost of torque, which he possibly required a regear. He already had engine issue's prior to this as the 5.2 overheated far to quickly. But that's just an observation, and have worked on a Magnum 5.2 powered ZJ myself. We have forums that are very informative for all the various models of Jeep's. "It's a Jeep Thing, They wouldn't Understand." ;) lol

The hemi should be the one on the left, and he was clearly in high range, causing his traction control to ride brakes and his torque converter to slip in a way nobody designs them to. The I6 was in low range, so his tranny wasn't slipping, but his tires were. Once the tranny heated up in the hemi, and the tires heated up on the weaker motor, it was all over. However, the contest is meaningless for more than one reason. If you want to compare motors, you need both to have the same tires and be in the same low range. At that point, it's still just going to come down to traction, and the much heavier hemi will have more normal force (and more power to use it).
You might as well test them at blowing up balloons with the exhaust pipe. It's a test that doesn't mimic the conditions we use the vehicle in. In any case, the hemi makes me grin. 6 cylinder engines don't. Nuff said. If you like the 6, by all means don't buy a hemi.

You've obviously never owned or looked under a Jeep, but to my surprise (they call it a unibody) but it's basically a welded box frame to the body.
So strong that you can open and close all the doors when it's on 2 wheels on opposing axles. It was a body on frame guy until I saw how much stronger the "unibody" is.
