I was born in 1981 and grew up listening to all of the best 80s music on the radio when my parents drove around. :) also my mom played a lot of tapes of the best music. 80s were the best times for sure. pure joy for me, life was perfect. 90s werent too bad either but 80s were just magical. not just music but life. 2000s were shit for the most part.
I was born in 76 and my cousins, who were all older than me, always liked this kind of music. I was too young when Big Chair came out. But now I think it's great.
Love this song, was 13 when this came out...now 41...goes to show the 80's rule when it comes to music...and 70's 90's...people who love today's music, you should take a page out of those yearbooks.
I'll be 36 in September and my mom and I were reminising about how this was the song that made them famous. Now I know what Roland meant when he said that "they got back together because they wanted to pick up where they left off and remind people that by the end of the 80s they had transcended on what they had become so bloody famous for."
I was born in 79 so I wasnt old enough to take part in all the new romantic scene but i had 3 older sisters that were all teens so I did experience the new romantic era first hand i cant remember a time growing up when there wasnt either spandau ballet or tears for fears or dead or alive coming from sisters rooms, and I still to this day think it was the greatest time for music of the last 3 decades,i was young but its left strong memories to recall on.just got seriously 80s CD,very good,
To the 14 year old down below, kudos for having the recognition of good music. I'm only 15 years your senior, so this music is before my time as well in many ways, although I was born during much of it.....strikes a cord for me too!!! Long live the music of the 80's!
you are so right man....the 80's rocked in spite of all the bad things,i love the 80s and i live for the 80s...the 80s decade is in a class of its own and no other decade can hold a candle or anything else for that matter anywhere near it.....80's RULE
i know what you mean! MTV was THE ONLY music video outlet for all us teens then, it was the one place we could all go and experience music video for the first time ever!. "Video Killed The Radio Star" was the first video played on MTV, and one of my favorite bands, Split Enz followed with "I Got You". Amazing what you remember at times. wish they'd bring back some of the good stuff on radio (my oldies station plays 80s OY!)
I'm 14, I listen to cassette tapes almost everyday on my walk-men, and I can't say this is one of my favorites, but I greatly enjoy it as well as the band. :D
Arrrr the memories! I was born in 1978 but I can remember begging my Mum for the album "songs from the big chair" and that was in 1985, I got it for my 7th birthday (still have it in fact) and can remember having a crush on Curt Smith! I never fancied Roland, its funny when you look back. My kids like music from my era but when I show them the videos there are like "Errgh you faniced him"! I was the same with my Mum lol. Great band x
A child born in the 70's gad the greatest music ever to grow up with,no manufactured trash just electronic keyboards and stylophone's,I am a 70's child
I was born 1981, growing up as a kid in the 80s was MAGIC. the music...man. I remember sitting in the car backseat hardly able to see out the window, just listening to music like this, and just being really happy, like the kids in this video.
The thing I love most about '80s rock is that, although it was a burgeoning time for synthetics in the actual music, at its core was the very organic heart of guitars, bass, drums and straight-up vocals. We never had it so good, especially when looking at the so-called "pop" music of today.
I remember first hearing this when i was shuttling back and forth between BATH AND LONDON i just was so overwhelmed by the power of this Music i hope their will be greater appreciation for music like this in the FUTURE keep LISTENING CHEER!
Muppet, this is one of the best songs my old man used to listen to when he MADE me listen to actual music, shame i was too young to realise it at the time.
My kid is just 10 years old and he really likes 80's and 70's music, Michael Jackson among others and so. I would say that friends are so weird !!! :), congrats.
Agreed. Many other artists have tried to match T4F's quality but none have ever been able to duplicated. These guys are the quintessential, often imitated, but never duplicated, band of the 1980s. :)
I see everyone saying that everything sucks today, and wishing they would live in 80s, 70s or any previous decades. To me that's not because today there's no good music, but because today's generations are internet addicted and have no life besides this. Being bombarded with a lot of stimuli like video clips, music audio, visual images, and texts through internet would be the reason of not being able to concentrate on a single thing making people unhappy. Internet is the killer of our happiness.
Exactly right. I might not have been old enough to really appreicate them at the time but I'm sure glad that Roland Orzabal wrote this song because without him there would be no way for me to express what I'm feeling right now. :)
The musicians today don't have this close to producers and musicians backing them up. I do love these songs. I like original artists more than I like cover bands. :)
I just remember getting ready for school, with this one (and the many others) playing on MTV. Every day of my life had an OST, from the bedroom to the shower to the breakfast bar, and Tears For Fears was always welcome. LOVE IT!!!
ive been depressed all day thinking i am so ugly. i watched this video and i feel so much better. i love this song, i probably havent seen the video since i was 9 years old or so.
Some songs can you remind you of certain times in your life. This one always reminds me of a very good time in my life. It carries with it a positive energy for me. Ahh...memories.
This song made me a TEARS FOR FEARS,fan, for years to come.I'm from BROOKLYN,and everybody from black, white, latino, asian was feeling this record. You can't even get that influence in an age where they wanna split musical tastes for everybody.Record companies don't want kids to like classic stuff, only what is forced-fed to them on these wack-ass reality ''GLEE'',type, shows.
I hate to admit i, but this brings back memories of me driving down the road buzzed on mad dog wine and listening to this song.. Ah.. those were the days.
i was searching for this song so many years...and now i am very happy and proud becose i know who is singing this s ong...it is the best i`v heard ever

this is great 80's music, to all those who talk about how many viewer's bieber has it's because there ALL little girls who has crushes on him!! there so many little girl's who like his music
One of the best songs ever made in my opinion. There's a striking originality and uniqueness to it that has almost never been matched by any contemporary song.
This may be my fav song of all time!, so many elements come together to form this song and it grows from begining to end. I wish they still made music like this
this is such a great track brings back amazing memories of living in england at the appaling weather of course but there was always more of a venue for artistic expression!
What an amazing song.. 80's really were a golden Era for Music, Much better than the EDM we have nowday's Thanks you tube for preserving these memories & bringing them back to life. Band's don't make classics like these anymore. ( Coldplay is an exception - they still create magic with music ). :-)))
I will turn 15 in October. I was born in Rio de Janerio and raised in and around Boston. This Sunday, me and my mom will leave for our annual visit to Brazil.

I grew up in the 60's, the 80's were a breath of fresh air, something different & progressive in music.
3 types of music became 12 types in 1980.
two years worth of time have been spent watching this video...and i am proud to be part of that
I was born 87, but I remember this was still fairly popular when I was a child. This is some insanely crazy nostalgia.
i know what you mean! MTV was THE ONLY music video outlet for all us teens then, it was the one place we could all go and experience music video for the first time ever!. No matter if you're young or old; you still appreciate hearing these great songs of the 80's. I know I do and I am in my early 50's.
I was born 1981, growing up as a kid in the 80s was MAGIC. the music...man. I remember sitting in the car backseat hardly able to see out the window, just listening to music like this, and just being really happy, like the kids in this video.
Che stupendi anni gli 80 !! sulle note di queste canzoni ....quanta deliziosa nostalgia ...
a fellow child of the 80s. :-) This is one of my many favorites from that decade.
Great song!!!!! I love the 80's decade. I have a long list of this great song in my mind that make me want to go back and try live again those days.
The thing I love most about '80s rock is that, although it was a burgeoning time for synthetics in the actual music, at its core was the very organic heart of guitars, bass, drums and straight-up vocals. We never had it so good, especially when looking at the so-called "pop" music of today.

I'm 27. I grew up with the cassette tape. Still one of my favorite songs. Just a goosebump-raising, epic song. One of my fav's.
I just remember getting ready for school, with this one (and the many others) playing on MTV. Every day of my life had an OST, from the bedroom to the shower to the breakfast bar, and Tears For Fears was always welcome. LOVE IT!!!
