James Woods admitted that Hades was his all time favourite role in his movie career. He loved the role so much he even vowed to do the role for free and has even voiced him in the Kingdom video games. You can seriously tell James Woods indeed loved playing Hades as he had such fun playing him with his ad lipped lines and being a large ham.
No wonder Hades is like, the best Disney character in KH3, James Woods was probably one of the few people still given a decently long leash to play around in the role compared to the other Disney worlds(Pixar Worlds were great tho)

Some stories name him as Zeus kid while other say he's was a new version of one of Hades kids, sometimes the confusion is so bad they just have Dionysus be two people with the other kid sometimes named Pan. Basically any story that state Zeus is a monster, Dionysus is Hades' kid, any story where Zeus is a party animal or a "nice" drunk then Dionysus is Zeus' kid. It really depends on the author.

Two catches there though. A) they never shook on it, to my recollection. Which seemed to be what binds the deals, based on that's how Hercules had his strength sapped previously. However, Hades also revealed that Hercules couldn't leave immediately after he dove in. As such, Hades had already knowingly violated the contract : If the deal is "She goes, you stay", and he knew he couldn't get Meg out of the river, the contract was already violated

Let us all remember, Hades is non-arguably the NICEST Greek god. He has only one kidnapping, who he made his wife with no cheating or fucking around in mortals lives. He minds his own, and yeah maybe not exactly a good person, but way better then the rest of the gods

Fun fact: Mythological Hades voluntarily chose to be ruler of erebos, because he thought that his brothers are incompetent and he was lazy and knew that he would have to do almost nothing in that position.
Fun fact: None of that was true. Hades did prefer the Underworld, but it wasn't because he was lazy. He enjoyed ruling over the dead and ensuring none escaped and that those who were being tortured stayed in anguish is far from having nothing to do.
I have never heard a version where Hades enjoyed ruling the underworld. The dude did his job and did it well, but he didn't like it. He got tricked by his brothers for the most undesirable realm and simply made the best of it.
The brothers drew straws. Zeus got the air, Poseidon got the sea, and Hades got the Underworld. He literally got the short end of the stick in terms of which place he got to rule

As much as Disney painted him as the bad guy; this Hades is probably he one villain everyone can relate to: overworked in a job he didn't want(depending on scholar, he was either tricked or forced by Zeus to take over the underworld), doing his best to keep everything running like clockwork, yet only earning dislike and ridicule for actually being really good at what he does. Also, let's be honest, we all love this movie not for the hero, but the villain.
Whoever came up with the idea for Hades's fire hair and other fire-based powers was an absolute genius. The way it amplifies his reactions and movements adds so much to his scenes, and makes him so much more memorable than he would've been without it.
Hades knew he couldn't get out of the river which means the deal is invalid (since hades didn't know he'd get his godhood back), and also they never shook on it so it wasn't binding (or I don't think they did)

I always found one of the funniest scenes being when the titans are released and they seem all scary and dramatic and then hades says “guys, Olympus would be that way” and the rock titan says “Zeus!!” That always killed me so hard as a kid.

Seeing as though pretty much everyone else was either constantly having an affair or killing someone. Hades was pretty chill. Really, what I find funny is in most of the originals versions Posiden is usual played up as the closest thing to a devil. Often being the most openly anger and hateful of mortals. Sure, Zeus is selfish and often very childish, but Posiden does things with more malicious intents. Example, some versions state he raped Medusa to make Athena jealous, while a lot of others will go out of their way to say he did more to actively insult her instead. Yet in most modern media Posiden either Zeus' wingman or barely exist, like the clash of the titan movies where he had a single line and then later showed up[played by different actor no less] just to openly die.

Disney Hades is definitely a smooze as they said and I like him that way cause even when he loses he still has a friendly grin on his face and he's just waiting to do it all over again.

And the Greeks didn't even view Hades as evil. Death was seen as inevitable and so Hades was seen as a neutral god.

@@kylemorello4787So true. In the 1992 Beauty and the Beast Lafou stole his scenes by always annoying Gaston into bullying him. The 2017 remake just ruined all that by making them best friends. There was also no need to make Lafou gay. Changing a Character's race or sexuality just to pander to certain audience members is stupid.
That's because this kind of character doesn't work as well in live-action. (Which is one of many reasons that all these live-action remakes are a scourge on humanity, but that's another topic.)
Let us all remember, Hades is non-arguably the NICEST Greek god. He has only one kidnapping, who he made his wife with no cheating or fucking around in mortals lives. He minds his own, and yeah maybe not exactly a good person, but way better then the rest of the gods

Fun fact: None of that was true. Hades did prefer the Underworld, but it wasn't because he was lazy. He enjoyed ruling over the dead and ensuring none escaped and that those who were being tortured stayed in anguish is far from having nothing to do.

I have never heard a version where Hades enjoyed ruling the underworld. The dude did his job and did it well, but he didn't like it. He got tricked by his brothers for the most undesirable realm and simply made the best of it.

Real Hades is a good god, doing his job, has a love for dogs, and Cerberus translates to spot, and the only bad thing he’s done was kidnap his wife but the two have a loving relationship

As much as Disney painted him as the bad guy; this Hades is probably he one villain everyone can relate to: overworked in a job he didn't want(depending on scholar, he was either tricked or forced by Zeus to take over the underworld), doing his best to keep everything running like clockwork, yet only earning dislike and ridicule for actually being really good at what he does. Also, let's be honest, we all love this movie not for the hero, but the villain.
Whoever came up with the idea for Hades's fire hair and other fire-based powers was an absolute genius. The way it amplifies his reactions and movements adds so much to his scenes, and makes him so much more memorable than he would've been without it.

I don’t care what anyone says: Hades is one of the best villains Disney has made! He’s incredibly goofy while still managing to still be a threatening villain and the voice acting really added character very deeply and I honestly really appreciated it

I mean looking at actual Greek stories, hades, whilst being the ruler of the underworld. Is probably the best of the gods. Seeing as though pretty much everyone else was either constantly having an affair or killing someone. Hades was pretty chill.

Really, what I find funny is in most of the originals versions Posiden is usual played up as the closest thing to a devil. Often being the most openly anger and hateful of mortals. Sure, Zeus is selfish and often very childish, but Posiden does things with more malicious intents. Example, some versions state he raped Medusa to make Athena jealous, while a lot of others will go out of their way to say he did more to actively insult her instead.
Yet in most modern media Posiden either Zeus' wingman or barely exist, like the clash of the titan movies where he had a single line and then later showed up[played by different actor no less] just to openly die.

Wasn't Poseidon the one who actually conspired against Zeus? Hades was the most chilled dude of the lot, he only ever had trouble with Demeter, as far as I remember.
And that is solely because demeter is his mother-in-law.
