As someone who has next to zero understanding of car mechanics, this was very interesting. Thanks!
is nice to see a driver that actually knows how a car works !!!
All WRC cars carry a toolkit, and drivers and co-drives often have to do roadside repairs.
basicly all of them know the basics (what he described is the most basic stuff ever) and some of them are actuall mecanics like meek or tanak - they get a script for those videos and add a little improv for that
They _all_ know about that. You've got no chance to be a slightly successful WRC driver without knowing and dominating vehicle dynamics incredibly well, which requires understanding these things. They are _all the time_ fine-tuning their setups appropriately for each stage, talking to the engineers to gather theoretical information, and putting all that to practice by trying to drive the car to the maximum of its capabilities.
This builds really well on previous WRC - Technical - suspension videos. Please keep on making clips like this, as rally fans we love this stuff.
this channel is pure gold! keep them coming wrc!!
Thanks for this interessting video! :)
Latvala, The Best of The Best!
That Damper is larger than most Exhausts.
Alot of practice and adjusting is what wins races
My dad works in monroe in projects to improve in Poland
I guess in WRC dampers make the most impact. But I have been trying to find info for a rough gravel rally is the suspension setup softer or harder than a regular road car. One of the components of that is is with spring rates are they softer or harder than road cars.
Softer... but WRC suspension have 2,5 times longer suspension travel. WRC competition dampers are 4 times bigger and 10 times stronger than stock.
they should have shown a normal road car one next to it lol

Coilover preload, low and high speed compression. Bumpstop.

I am sure I could buy a nice car for the price of this damper :D
15k most likely. For amatur rallyist's would spend like 6-8k for a good rally suspension . These guys are pros and those coilovers are no joke lol
What's the difference between the damper and the spring? Do they have separate roles, or do they work together in some way? It's interesting to know how a damper works, but I thought the spring does what the damper does... could someone elaborate?
The spring absorbs energy from bumps. The damper then dissipates that energy as heat. Without a damper the spring will just vibrate up and down without stopping.
Springs keep the car from dragging on the ground. Dampers control the wheel and other components attached to the wheel. The speed of Compression and rebound. The spring and dampers are critical to handling.

Toyota!!!!!!!!!
met this guy in Sydney one night a signiture and chat no problem
🇵🇹👍
What's the price tag on this full set up
A brand new middle class saloon? What makes them different from cheaper dampeners
How much does this suspension setup cost ?
OMPPU $20,000 plus. Per corner most likely. Cheaper 50mm suspension is around $10-$15k for a car. I run ARA stage rally and that’s what this level used.
this year the same problem jarimatti ! dont cut inside corners in argentina hjahahha
That's a very expensive shock absorber right there!!
For sure, not F1 driver
He doesnt explain it well.
I would quite like to see some more stuff like this, more in depth even.
Same here, love the Tech Specials but I think they'd be even better if they would be around 5-10mins and, like you said, more in depth.
Lucas Taylor agree with that, but the key is keep it simple as long people can understand it
