Reb Beach and Winger fans unite!!
In the process of finishing up a reb inspired build for someone. Video my paint guy posted czcams.com/video/WGNd7uWGVKw/video.html
What is a good price for one of those if i do find one? My buddy had one of those when we were kids, and I'd love to get one for my collection also!!
I took lessons from Joe. Good dude and really helped me overcome some hurdles. Enjoy!
I have three!!!! RBM1CA, RBM2NT (the Koa one), and RBM10 👍👍👍👍
@@joshuaH75 I'm jealous of the Koa one, that is def the holy grail of RBM's
Get ibanez to make you one. Call it the RBM2. Robert Baker Model.
Or get a saw, some sandpaper, and a tin of paint …
Make your own Fronkanschteen!
I think what's the most unique thing that makes this guitar so hard to find, is the short name it has, you don't see Ibanez do that often.
Ha for real
@@RobertBakerGuitar 😂😂
Oh come on. The latest guitar, called the RG24466637fucxjgxuf has a short name.
The artist models always have shorter names than stock models.
@@3Storms yeah I know, I don't know why people say that it's hard to remember its just 24 letters long 🤣
I also have a 80s machine that my uncle abandoned in my grandma’s house. It’s a ibanez 540r pro and I love it. plus, He also left a line 6 amp and a crafter acoustic and an ovation.
I remember those, knew what it was from the thumbnail. I saw Winger (and Slaughter) open for KISS on their "Hot in the Shade" tour. Must have been in '90 or '91 as I was either in my first or second year of college. Reb played one of these on that tour, it was a Koa (top) one.
BTW, for fans of Reb Beach, if you're not familiar with his instrumental "Black Magic", do a search for it.
The holy grail of this model is the RBM2 Reb Beach Signature Hawaiian Koa Top RBM2NT. It is said that only around 300-400 units were produced. If you can find one for a reasonable price then go get it.
one of the most iconic 80's guitars and one of my absolute favorites 😀
Especially so, since it came out in 1991! 😂
@@Ken-kb5fw1990… since you’re out correcting people. 🤔🤘🏼✌🏼
@@ronnieparfait wrong. The Reb Beach series started with a limited production run model known as the WRB3 introduced in 1990, not yet based on the more common Voyager body shape, but already featuring specifications which would be seen on future models such as a mahogany body, EMG pickups and the Edge tremolo.
In 1991 completely new Reb Beach models were introduced: the more basic RBM1 and the top of the range RBM2 with koa top, EMG pickups and bolivian rosewood neck
New guitar day is always a great day! Looking forward to seeing and hearing this one in many upcoming vids!
Congrats Robert
It's great watching a guitarist play something they're really enjoying and looking forward to sharing with their audience.
Lucky! I remember seeing those when they came out and wanting it so bad! Have fun.
Never saw one before. Looks awesome!!! Ibby makes some really fine guitars. Congrats Robert
Dude, I never thought I'd see one of those ever again! I remember the ads for them in the magazines!
Congratulations, Robert! Looks cool and sounds good - hope to see it more in upcoming videos. 🍻 👏 🤘 🎸 ✌️
You're one of the few guitar channels where I don't skip over the first part while you're jamming. I love the way you play.
Your video production is really impressive! Getting better and so easy to watch 🤟
OMG!! That thing is awesome sick!! Congrats on finding it.👍🤘
AWESOME !!!! I've been trying to find one of these for years !!
That is nice Robert! I passed on the natural finish one in the early 90s and still regret it. Been looking for one ever since. Nice find. Well done!
One luck dude!!! That is so hard to find. Good job. Enjoy that.
It's in the perfect color, too! Also, thanks for the sale on the '80s course! (I missed it last time.) Enjoy that beauty of a guitar!
I have a 1997 RG 570. Fujigen. My brother gave it to me when I gave him a car. The guitar was trashed. One it was repaired and some parts replaced it is a solid rock machine yet it plays any type of music!
RG570 CHADS REPRESENT
Unbelievable Rob! I had a crazy night one night at Tone Merchants during NAMM. Guthrie Govan, Andy Wood, Reb Beach and a few other Suhr Artists were performing a small show. Reb had a fan show up with a Reb Beach model Ibanez that you could tell was his pride and joy. Reb spent a great amount of time with the fan. It was great to watch. Top Bloke!
Wally
That’s how I felt when I added an old Yamaha 612A to my collection. Had one as a youngster and just couldn’t find a reasonably priced unmolested one anywhere besides the 7000 in Japan. Just a piece of my history and an amazing playing guitar, with Yamaha’s active pickups and a pretty crazy trem “rockin magic” (kinda like if a Kahler and a FR mated, and put some rollers in) but I sooo get the nostalgia man. Happy for you bro
I was given a 612S years ago and at the time I thought it was ridiculous. About 8 years ago I pulled it and started playing it, it's my go to. I keep buying guitars but none feel as good. The S model pups aren't great, but with a pup upgrade it can't be beat.
I keep looking for another one and have the same problem
Welcome to the club! You got Joe’s Voyager. Nice! I do want to have the blue one too!
Happy St. Patrick's Day Robert and everyone! My very first electric guitar was an Ibanez when I was like 13. Congratulations Robert on such a unique, amazing looking, and terrific sounding guitar!! I hope you get much enjoyment out of it for years to come!
Dude that’s some crazy iconic 80s tone! Congrats!
Happy St Paddy’s Day from Boston ☘️, nice guitar !
Very nice! Looks like a cable killer.
Reb is my hero lol. That trem is so responsive, I want one lol. I've seen so many live videos of Reb playing that model but never seen it anywhere else. Super cool you got one man!
I think this is the same colour as my RG 565. I remember buying two pickups from an RBM1 and I discovered that the pickups were the same. I’m glad I found out before I swapped ‘em out! Hahaha. Helluva beautiful score, brother!
Sounds Incredible!!
The SB1 middle and neck pickups in that guitar are among my favourites of all time. I had a full SSS set of them, and stupidly sold them in a time of "I don't have anywhere to put these and I could use the money". Total regret. Great guitar! Rock it!
Love it and I accept your challenge, am now on the hunt 😁
Definitely sick! He had to have that Kramer Focus style with that Ibanez playability. Seriously underrated player.
Hey Rob, excellent find you never see those things. I’m happy for you man.
Wow that sounded so good, my brain and fingers are salivating for it. Beautiful color. 😍
I have an old Ibanez electric guitar. They DO kick ass. Mine has a micro switch for phase. And Yes, They're pickups kick ass .
Looks fantastic! I'd love to see it with a different volume knob though, something like a blackened knurled metal knob.
Awesome and Congrats Robert! I was lucky last year when I found a 1993 RBM100 (Black and Gold) from an online Japanese music store. I had a few dings for a 30 year old guitar but it was set up great and sounds amazing. Love the older thinner 90s necks from Ibanez.
I picked one of these up in England many years back. Plays great once you get to grips with the set-up. Mine is the same model, but all the hardware is gold coloured. Hair metal heaven 😂. Great revew, Robert...big thumbs up for that one!
very cool guitar, I actually saw Reb last summer with Winger, he sounded amazing.
Nice find. That would look killer with 80’s inspired custom paint job.
I still have one, its in pieces in its case. The original Wizard necks are amazing.
Saw these in an ad in a magazine back then. Liked the style so I got a big piece of 2x12 pine from my dad's garage and cut out the shape. dug out a router and went to town lol. Stole some hardware from a couple of my other guitars, installed a neck from a cort effector, and a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge position. Had some trouble with the trem block because the 2x12 was a lot thinner than my other guitars, so I had to get creative with a grinder, but other than that it went together without a hitch :)
I painted it using yellow tractor paint. looked great paired with the slick black ebanol (or whatever that fretboard material is) fretboard. Played like a dream.
Only problem was that if you turned it all the way up, you HAD to keep playing, cause if you stopped, it'd squal like an Air Raid siren lol
I didn't know anything about shielding back then, so that probably contributed. Plus my amp was an early 5150 that was particularly intolerant of any sort of distortion effect in the signal chain, so I suspect I may have actually had a microphonic tube. And, the pickup may have been a bit microphonic as well...
Maybe a microphonic cable or two... lol
Every dam thing was microphonic back then ;P
Whatever the case, the combination would *not* allow you to sit idle while the knob was at 10. *especially* on the lead channel.
Layers of goodness coming from the speakers though (when not squeeling/squaling)
That ad for these guitars also gave me the questionable habit of cutting a v-shaped section out behind the bridge of my strat-style bodied guitars 😅
Somehow it never occurred to me that I could actually try and buy a *real* one 🤔
You can tell it was somewhat well played but still well taken care of. Happy you found your holy grail brother!
Nice guitar. Congrats!
I don't know if I've ever been more jealous in my life! I've been trying to hunt one of these down since I was a kid!!! Reb is criminally underrated and doesn't get any of the props he deserves. People knock him because of Winger, but it's all BS! Winger is a fantastic band, and Reb's tone and playing are amazing. If for any reason you let this go in the future, PLEASE give me a shot at it! Great winger lick you played as well! Blessings to you😊
I have the RBM 10 with an Original floyd rose. I paid $500 15 years ago and installed a $250 gold floyd. Next was going to be the pickups I have not done it yet.
I just picked up an early 80’s Hondo Les Paul copy, very similar to my first electric guitar. I have been so suprised at how well it sounds and plays! 40+ years old, Korean made knock off/lawsuit, and I’m having so much fun rediscovering it! Getting some early, inexpensive lawsuits for comparison/contrast, would make a great series, Robert!!
This one cost me 350.00 with shipping
I knew that was the Reb Beach model before even turning it around.
I remember seeing the koa bodied one in the '93 Ibanez catalog and loving it. Have never seen one in person though.
Remember seeing Reb playing this model in woodtone.....awesome guitar!
OMG, that was my dream guitar when I was teenager. so unique and beautiful
I had a Korea made one in the 90's. Was black with gold hardware and a mirror pickguard. Was very good, but Im a Jackson guy.
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Cutting Loose! 🤘
Always loved those.
I have a blk and gold Reb beach signature voyager. ITS Awesome! Great find.
I've had mine for 20 years! eu only model fuji rbm100 with the embossed gold foil logo and the original ufo knob. excellent neck! not quite as thin as a modern wizard prestige but thinner than every other wizard.
Cool Guitar! Great Tone!
I tried one when they came out. Great guitars
Congratulations 🎉
I looked for one of these years ago and never could find one and the were all Koa wood I believe. I never saw a painted one like this, very cool.
Cool retro guitar and great playing. Sort of pre-dates the Strandberg but without committing to the tuners moving bridge-side.
I have one of those, in black. Looks weird, sounds and plays amazing!!! You have another bridge pickup though, it usually has an Ibanez HB2 which sounds great!
This guitar sounds awesome never find it in this day no more.
sweet axe Robert!!
Awesome Rob! is this the same model the guys from Exodus used briefly in the 90s too?
I had a 1990-91 RG series thin body Ibanez back in the day and I LOVED it. I'm not sure that I've ever seen this model before, or even heard of it. That thing there looks sick as hell!! Wanna sell it? LOL!!
ohh man! one of my dream guitars! Reb Beach is my hero and massively underestimated player! congrats on the guitar man!
I remember those! It’s so awesome now I want one!!!🎸🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻😎😎
That Reb Beach guitar has always been so cool to me, but the version with the mini pickguard is even better
Ibanez needs to bring this model back, it's probably nice and light
30 years ago I had one of the RBM-10’s in this same green. Those had gold hardware. It was nice guitar.
Such a cool looking guitar!
Those Voyagers were always some cool designed guitars. If I'm not mistaken Reb started those with Kramer, but then moved over to Ibanez.
Robert,..congratulations on your rare and unique guitar !
You really should consider doing a tutorial on "Cutting Loose"
I need to sit and learn it the right way but i might do a video on it at some point
@@RobertBakerGuitar Yes,..I could see and hear that it needs some cleaning up. But the basis is already there and you are a bad dude on the guitar,..So dialing it in shouldn't be any sweat for you.
I do however, understand that a tutorial is a very large task, even if you know a song inside and out.
Thanks Robert.
My buddy had one of these in maroon (stolen years ago) and it was a really sweet guitar! Congrats!
Knew it was the ole reb bech. Been looking at that fiddle for years! Congrats!
I saw one of those at Mars about 25 years ago. I remember pointing it out to a friend and saying how weird it was, and he somehow knew exactly what it was. Haven't seen one in the wild since then.
Great-looking axe! So cool. Reb's just awesome.
I knew you could wail Robert, but you can really Shred brother.😮 Thank you for all you do. Very informative. And by all means, more playing please.
Reb beach 😍😍😍 ibanez should come with a headless version of this ❤
A natural one with gold hardware popped up on Craigslist in the Raleigh area about a year ago...if it had been pretty much any other color I might have jumped on it...these and the Alvarez Dana came out around the same time frame...both crazy cool.
Oh how I wanted one of those back in the day.!
Ibanez Reb Beach Voyager! Not to be confused with the Kramer voyager, which is an explorer/star I believe
Wow, i had one of these a long time. Sold it on ebay, totally forgot about it until now that this video came up. 🤘
I remember Ibanez making models for Gary Holt and Gary Hunolt of exodus back in the early 90’s. I think the looked similar to that one you have. I’ve never seen one in the wild, & not much in magazines after they came out.
It would make a purrrrrrfect blues guitar!!!!!!❤
Dang Robert, you can shred! I've always know you were a great player but I didn't you know got it like that!
I recently acquired a 2007 Floyd Rose Discovery OT. Black with pearloid pick guard, a real shredder machine.
I had one... It had gold hardware... about 1200 paid for it... Played great and sounded great. Neck however was crap... kept turning.. warp to the left ... get it straightened and then it would to the right... and quick... this was an every 3 monjths thing.... finally took it to a pawn shop and left it.
Love the RBMs! They're one of the more interesting models Ibanez has. Also love the Radius series. Hope Ibanez brings them back!
Nice! It’s definitely full of the oodly oodlies and the weedly weedlies!
I should’ve gotten one ten or so years ago when they were way cheaper and easier to find. I’ve always loved the Voyager.
They are rare to come by, I really love the shape. Wish it would be brought back
Strandberg snagged that heel shape..damn
Sounds good
I really want a Dean z 88 good luck finding those Especially with the one hum bucker single coil combination
First guitar I really love on your channel. One of my fav guitar ever, best in KOA, but so coooool
Damn, Robert! I wanted the wood finish one that you showed a picture of in your video. I wanted one of them SO bad, but never saw one in the flesh. It was a toss up which I wanted more, that RBM or the Blues Saraceno Yamaha RGZ820R. Pointless pipe dreaming as I never see either anywhere and now couldn't afford or justify either, but damn, i still get longings when I see pictures of them. Great purchase, dude!
I've got the RBM10 wood finish. Korean made but still great...but sadly just made for 1year.. so maybe even harder to get. I've a video about it but the playing isn't as good as Roberts.
@@Fergieguitar believe it or not there is one on eBay right now but it is over £3000 and I just can't justify it. I wants it but it's worth more than my car and I'm not a professional. First non-paint version I've seen in about 6 years! The coincidence is freaking me out.
@@Arryhall good grief, I paid €350 for mine and with original case...ok Korean but still. The only thing if it helps eas3 your lusting is, you need a grippy strap, they are very slightly neck heavy.
@Arryhall, I've seen a couple of those Saraceno Yamahas on eBay in the last couple of years cause I was looking for a higher end Yamaha RG or Pacifica and it wasn't crazy expensive either I just couldn't do it at that moment .
