This week we get to know about music from SINGAPORE for the VERY FIRST TIME, starting with Aisyah Aziz & Rizky Febian's acoustic live collab " Indah Pada Waktunya". The Sam Willows showed us how POP is done with their song "Take Heart". Then JJ Lin blew us away with his incredibly visual concerts on his latest music video "Light Of Sanctuary" and when you thought you were safe from musical mastery, Sun Yanzi ruthlessly RIPPED my heart away with her beautifully tender video for "What Remains", I really cried like a baby. And to finish it all off we enjoyed LinYing's live cover of Frank Ocean's "Self Control" and it was amazing!

The music video to Stefanie Sun's song follows a man whose wife has passed. But before she died, she has arranged for gifts and items to be sent to him even after she's gone. Like groceries and the recipe to his favourite dumplings. She wanted him to have a full life even after she was gone, and the garbage bags were for him to get rid of her items, so that he could have a fresh start with someone new. The final letter he received at the end of the music video were divorce papers for him to sign and be free of her ties. He burns it because he doesn't think he has anymore love to give for anyone else, having given all of it to her. It's crazy touching and emotional.
To all who doesn't know. JJ Lin was also a good friend of David Foster,and some US artist and even the late Paul walker. He was a friend of JJ Lin. JJ Lin was also signed by United Talent Artist,one of the biggest Hollywood Talent Agency and they will represent him in the US and Europe Area. And JJ Lin wasn't just a singer but he was also a songwriter,music producer as he has his own Music Production and all his songs he records it on his own studio JFJ productions. He even wrote a song for Japanese Artist like Ayu Hamasaki

Rizky Febrian is from Indonesia. He is one of the judges of the voice kids Indonesia. Reza and mirriam also sang his song on their tiktok mashup called “cuek”
And he was also has a vocal training in 2005 to one of the US best vocal coach,Sett Riggs who was also the vocal coach of Michael Jackson and Mariah Carrey. That is why his voice and vocal power was amazing coz he worked with Sett Riggs before.
In Singapore they speak Tamil, Maylay English and Mandarin Chinese since there are many dialects of Chinese.
Her voice was beautiful and he has a great voice, too, like to put the lights low and sip some wine and relax. Thank you,

Christopher may be born in Malaysia, but his acting career is based in Singapore for decades.
Singapore’s got a small music industry. We just a dot on the map. Population 4 million. 70% of the population are Chinese. JJ have been based in Chinese Taipei for her longest time and is huge in China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and of course Singapore and he writes for other Singers
4 million? That was our population in the year 2000. We are now almost 6 million. For a small country, every million counts 😉 But yeah our market is not big hence a small talent pool.

We have an outsized contribution to the music industry for a country as small as ours. Not just the performing artists, but also in songwriting, lyricists, and so on.
In the video, Rizky Febian speaks Indonesian and Aisyah Aziz speaks Malay (mix with English). fyi, Indonesian and Malay are pretty much similar so people who speak Indonesian and people who speak Malay can understand about 90% of what each other is saying.

Yay..as a singaporean viewer of yours. I am happy. I really like the Sam Willows but the are not as active at the moment. JJ Lin is big internationally esp in the chinese market. We are proud! 😊 There are not many singers that come from Singapore but we are proud of the small local singers that we have nonetheless 😁 Also also Gentle Bones is one that I like. He made a collab with Benjamin Kheng from The Sam Willows with the song Better With You 😁

JJ is my favourite singer! He is so talented & has amazing vocals!
JJ Lin is from Singapore but he's mainly based in Taiwan. He lives there. Taiwan has one of the most mature and biggest Chinese music industries (from very early on and still till this day). Most "Cpop" you'll hear are from Taiwanese artists or artists based in Taiwan.
Almost all major Singaporean Chinese singers have to go to Taiwan to expand their musical careers, but all of them retains their Singaporean cultural roots, and it is distinctive in their music. In fact, this is most obvious to mainland Chinese, who often comment about their unique "East-West" styles on Chinese variety shows. Among the various ethnic Chinese communities in Asia, Singaporeans are the most Westernised, and that is how they stand out.

Check out Charlie Lim for a different kind of vibe from Singapore. Malay is the National Language Here but we all learn English from around 5 years old from Pre school and our mother tongue as the languages in School. That could be Mandarin, Tamil or Malay. English is the business language here.

I think Cpop because of the size of the market and its scope, once you make an impact musically, you're catapulted as a Giant. Even as far back as early 2000s before CZcams and Google half a world away as a non-Chinese, I have heard of JJ Lin. Jay Chou is a good example, introduced to me by a Brit mate. Everyone knows Jay, right? Have you heard and reacted to his genius? The ballads are good, but the edgy, experimental stuff using traditional gongs and $&@% are amazeballs.

I have more, rappers, Shiga Shay, Yung Raja, Lion City Boy. And the guy from Sam Willows has some songs. His name is Benjamin Kheng and 2 good songs are Wicked and Fresh Feeling.
We are actually a multi-racial country, we literally have a holiday that is called racial harmony where all races celebrate together. Between Indonesian and malay there is a difference but similar, I'm saying this because I'm from singapore and I'm mostly malay because my grandmother's side has chinese blood
