Great vid Lex. Keep it up and stay hydrated
Thank you so much for watching Tacoman!
Still my new favorite channel. I do industrial hydraulic maintenance but we are constantly tasked with stuff at offices around the plant. Always good info coming from here.
Right on Cody! Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the video. I started working on a apartment complex and your videos helped me a lot. Thanks again
Right on Mario! Thank you so much for watching!
Your experience made this job an easy evaluation! Nice!
Thank you so much for watching Terry!
great video Lex that M500 meter is awesome i have one them from watching you use it in some of your early videos be safe
Right on! Thank you so much for watching Jr!
Man, you got it made when I was on call for 3 properties. I was one man covering call for nearly 1252 units. And they were distressed meaning calls were off the chain five times above normal. Stupid ridiculous.
Just making memories. 😆
U give good advice on all of your videos
Thank you so much for watching!
Way to work it Lex! Good video! You can't stop a Goodman! 😅
👍😆👍 Thank you so much for watching Dan!
good video brother love the info. I got a supco cause I saw you use one about 1y ago and still haven't used it lol
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. 😆 Good to hear from you Ray!
Man that’s rough but good job being able to figure out what’s wrong
Thank you so much for watching David!
@@LexVance does the power have to be on when you use your Supco 500?
Good troubleshooting as usual.
Thank you so much for watching Robert!
For that many units , you need a crew not just one person ... Keep on Chooglin' and thx for posting
👍😆👍 So true! Good to hear from you Eddy!
Great video
Thank you so much for watching Andy!
They better be paying you well for 900 units on call. I've got around 450 units when I'm on call and I still feel like they don't pay enough for that
Its only once every 2 months so I'll take it. 😆 Good to hear from you Zac!
That's why I moved to Hvac technician, my property was great but everyone was so cheap and parts were cheap which broke often and the same way. I got tired of annoyed residents.
Now I'm making 3X my yearly income and on call every other month just the weekend for 9am to 10pm
Why are you not working as an HVAC tech?
Lol, what does Steve say?.. Can't stop a Train 😂
👍😆👍 Thank you so much for watching!
Save my weekend 🙏
Right on! Thank you so much for watching!
Always a good idea the check the compressor with the wires disconnected at the compressor. The wiring from contactor to compressor could have a problem. Hate to change out a compressor only to find out it's a wire/connection giving Meg ohm reading...
So true! Further diagnosis will be done Monday by that propertys techs. I had to keep it moving due to more calls pouring in. Thank you so much for watching Denny!
The plug on the compressor was burnt melted maybe could have just replaced plug .replaced compressor & plug making memories
Great content as always. You might consider getting a hands free go pro camera system
Thank you so much for watching JP!
Make more videos often, the demand for maintenance is at all high!!!!
So true!
Just a tip never get to comfortable pushing in contactor. Had a light hit of 240 and blew my screw driver out my hand.
Yikes! Thank you so much for watching Taz!
That's the 1st time I've ever heard of a a.c. man installing a window unit to help a brother out, I guess it depends on what kind of land Lord you have.
That's going the extra mile!!!
Question, breaker flips when thermostat is off??
Could be a bad breaker that's getting hot and tripping. I'd need to be there.
Those plastic disconnects in Florida was a bold design choice
So true! Good to hear from you Central!
You should always check the voltage after the contactor as well as the incoming power.
Thank you so much for watching Robert!
@@LexVance I have watched several of your videos. Most are OK. I am a retired technician - HVAC and control systems for 41 years.
Maybe you will learn what a king valve is!
Have a great day.
Hey Man thanks for sharing knowledge.
I’m new in at this job so you can imagine how many questions etc
And i have a couple of questions.
Like” I see you have contractors and capacitors ready at hand, which ones should I buy
40/5
30/5 ?
It depends on what's in the unit. You have to look inside the condenser and see what microfarads the capacitor is and go back with the same. If there's a 35/5 capacitor, you'll have to put in a new 35/5 to replace it if it's bad.
Great job brother 🤘💯🌎 ... What do you guys do or you do if a resident ask for two. Ac portable
They get one in a place where they want to be cold when they sleep so it's usually the bedroom. We only have 2 per property so we can't use both in case someone else needs it. Thank you so much for watching!
GOOD OLE SOMEONE CAME OUT SAID IT WAS OK 😂
👍😆👍 Leave it for the next guy. Thank you so much for watching Sam!
Never fails, ya don't check the compressor windings before swapping out the contactor - and sure enough....she's dead.
Also happens when ya get the wiring, capacitors, and start kit all really nice and neat and cable managed....dead compressor.
Just making memories 🤣. Thank you so much for watching Mike!
But we keep hoping it’s not the compressor, but it always is. That is why.
The contactor was causing compressor to single phase. The single phase is what took out the compressor.
I agree. This one was a mess and I couldn't stay any longer. I have to keep it moving when I'm alone on call on Saturdays. Good to hear from you Joshua!
240 VAC is single phase.
What is the rule about using a double pole double throw contactor switch in place of a double pole single throw. There was a tech one time that went all over a property replacing contactor when they were bad he would take out a double pole single throw and replace it with a double pole double throw.
Yikes. I always go back with what's there.
It's hard to tell but did you touch the metal screwdriver to the contact points when it sparked?
I don't think so. Kept it in the middle of the plunger on the plastic. Good to hear from you Sam!
Compressor grounded, frying the contactor.
Yep. I agree.
When u checked for 240, did u check that at the bottom of the switch? Or on the power going out side?
I believe he was checking at the bottom, if he check the top it will be less voltages
But the comperser was bad...
I checked at the bottom of the contactor where the high voltage comes in from the disconnect.
supco meter for the GO
Right on Stuart! Thank you so much for watching!
Hey bud, I live in West Texas where it's going to be 102 today what do you suggest I put my thermostat on. Where it won't break my unit but will still keep me cool? Thanks
I live in Florida where we have similar weather and I keep mine at 72. Anything over 70 will do. Under 70 can become a drag on the system I've heard. Thank you so much for watching J V!
@@LexVance thank you
Can anyone recommend a hvac scale for Freon thank you in advance :).
Anything by Fieldpiece or Tif Tif will be good. Thank you so much for watching!
that looked like a portable not a window unit. hope it wasn't an upstairs apt. i hate carrying those things upstairs at my age
Second story. Not too bad. Thank you so much for watching Kevin!
I hate on call 😂
Me too! 😆
It sounded awful like a toilet bowl, flushing rocks into a 55 gallon drum
So true! 😆 Thank you so much for watching J Ray!
300 units for 1 guy? Talk about labor abuse.
So true!
