  • What IF Victor MARRIED Emily? | The Birth of The Tim Burton Theory
The world over the years have been wondering if the Tim Burton theory is actually true or not. In this video I prove that the Tim Burton Theory was real all along by changing one important thing from Corpse Bride: What if Victor married Emily instead of Victoria in Corpse Bride? I believe that Corpse Bride was the first movie that gave birth to the Tim Burton Theory. It also ties in into The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie. Today I proved the Tim Burton Theory is true.
I am not the owner of these movies nor am I sponsor by them. I used Disney's and Warner Bros footage of Corpse Bride, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and Frankenweenie for entertainment purposes only

I honestly wished victor married Emily. She was a better character and genuinely cared about victor. She even says she loved him in the end. Victoria is good but Emily was just so much better and I’m sure victor was developing feeling for her. He spent more time with emily and was willing to die for her to be married. Musical chemistry was perfect was comfortable with her and was enjoying more of the land of the dead than the land of the living.

      I love Emily x Victor.
But Emily gave up Victor for Victoria willing. Because she realizes she's doing the same thing the person who took her life did, stealing futures, only with two people. She'd be stealing a good future of marrying a good man, becoming a wife and possibly motherhood from Victoria. And she'd literally be taking Victor's life and future, he'd have to die in order to naturally be with Emily, he's young and still at the beginning of living life, and he'd be leaving his parents for the land of the dead. Emily loved Victor too much to do that to him.

I like the fact Victor was prepared to drink the poison and Emily stopped him because she realized that she was going to be taking someone Victoria cared about and she knows how it feels to find “love” in the wrong people. And the fact that not only does she get closure with Barkus/barkis and being able to put a face to the story of her death for the others in the afterlife; then he drinks the “wine” and they are able to get their revenge for her and that way Emily knew she was really free of that monster. She was finally able to actually rest and the sigh of final peace was so simple but you could see the weight of the world being released from her soul and heart ☺️😇🦋

I completely agree, from the start of the movie to finish I was trying to connect the characters chemistry and yes, it’s true Emily is this beautiful, enchanting, corpse bride but she wasn’t there before Victoria. Even when that piano scene played with the two them playing I could only feel like Victor was just trying to see her as a person more over than a Corpse that just married him. But I could also say that from the piano scene with Victoria and Victor that was the moment Victoria seemed very intrigued in him and you could just feel his nerves but despite what everyone says Victoria isn’t a horrible character either because even in this arranged marriage she truly wanted to care for him and she made the first move to go see him. As for Emily’s case she had been killed from her ex husband waiting to find love again. Even if she is a victim in a horrible crime she just wanted love and was willing to marry anyone for it. She doesn’t really know Victor nor does Victor know her. So comparing Victoria to Emily is like comparing two very different cases because Emily is a victim desperate to solve her unfinished business and Victoria is a girl who just wanted to make the best out of her parents wishes. And personally, I like those kind of tropes where they’re arranged to get marry and end up falling for each other but also the ending just fits it all because (like you said) Victor didn’t have to die and Emily learned that she didn’t need someone else because she realized that would only be taking away their dreams just as her killer did. So I guess you could say the moral of the story: “The Dead have no claim upon the living.” Because while Emily had a tragic life Victor was still living his and as the movie progresses the only way for Victor to truly be with Emily is to die for her so that’s also a huge detail because that means Victor would have to give up everything so like I said that moral is true because the living cannot be with dead and Emily was able to finally rest. (Though I guess it would’ve been cool to see Emily end up with him but I think this ending connects with the moral)

This theory doesn't really make sense when you look at the different personalities.
Victor is a nervous stuttering sweetie, and he shows a lot of devotion towards the people he cares about. In contrast, Jack is outgoing, charming, proper leader material (which some people might argue Victor was when he organised his and Emily's wedding but that was one occasion in the entire movie where he commands others, and he leaves a lot of the details to them, Jack by contrast is constantly in charge of the entire town and kinda a control freak, it's not a bad thing, but he hands out the most specific tasks to different monsters with very clear instructions and expectations.) He also much more impulsive, prone to ignoring good advice and taking reckless risks than Victor such as when he face Oogie Boogie by himself (He also seems to favour very dramatic entrances in the movie compared to Victor who always seems like he wants to fade into the background and not be noticed.) If you ask me, they seem to be very different people.
Added to that of course is the idea that Halloween town where Jack lives is not the same as the afterlife place that victor visited. It is quite literally 'Halloween' town. The same as there is an easter town and a christmas town, it's a magical world based on a particular festival on calendars. In other words, it isn't a fact that the inhabitants are dead people. It seems quite the opposite in fact. People speculate about how you can see ghosts in the town or the possible interpretations of how characters could have died based on their appearances but Sally for example doesn't fit. Look at her when she has to stitch herself back together, she's stuffed inside with leaves. Add to that, Dr. Finkelstein, (the mad scientist in the wheelchair) says "I created you" to her. Making it clear she wasn't a person entering the afterlife. When you take his name into account, it's obviously a nod to Frankinstein, the famous story by Mary Shelley. A mad scientist who sews together bits of DIFFERENT corpses to make a body and brings it to life. Obviously as it's a childrens film (kinda) they didn't add grim details, they made her into a rag doll of sorts instead. Instead of being filled with dead people, Halloween town is simply filled with the kind of monsters that we assoicate with halloween, vampires, ghosts, ghouls, living skellingtons werewolves as examples.
At the end of the day, I wasn't a massive fan of The Nightmare before Christmas, I found it very creepy and spooky as a kid, especially the Oogie Boogie man, and I suppose that has carried over to now. I am eighteen and to be honest it still gives me the creeps a little but there are definitely parts I enjoyed as a kid and now as well. However, I really like The Corpse Bride. I like the characters in it, I find parts like when Emily follows Victor through the woods creepy but it's a good creepy because there is enough humour mixed in to ease some of the tension. This is probably one of my favourite films, I never get bored of watching it.
I would like to point out at the end of this all, this is my opinion. I can't prove that Tim Burton wasn't trying to connect these movies, but I think there are a number of flaws in this theory. That obviously doesn't mean you can't believe in this theory, you may have actually seen something I have missed which proves me wrong. Thanks for listening to what I have to say, if you don't agree with me please don't take it to heart, discussing different opinions or ideas is all part of the fun of movie theories.

I also want to add something, the most important thing in fact, how could undead beings have children? It's like saying zombies can have children and those children are going to be zombies too, of course not, that's impossible, and the people who live in the underworld where emily was were more likely people who can't rest in peace, so EVEN if they could have a child, he can't exist there, becuase a newborn doesn't have grudges or things that holds them back from peace, so a child of victor and emily is the stupidiest thing i ever heard in my entire life. And he says in the video that victor and emily traveled for a "better life" or something like that, but they are literally dead, they don't need food, or sleep, or anything, so why would they need to travel? Plus, emily was already familiar with the people from the underworld where she lived and they are very nice people, why would they feel that necessity to leave all of that behind?

    • @Sophie-xu6cp
      @Sophie-xu6cp Před rokem +1

@@sixteendreamer Those are actually some great points that I hadn't really thought of. I agree that it doesn't make sense that Victor and Emily had a half dead child that somehow was born a skeleton/ pumpkin king and also died by burning to death in his previous life before moving to Halloween town. Also, yes, that they moved from England to America as well. Firstly, you're right, they had no real reason to leave the Underworld place where they existed, there is no reason why they would do this explained in the video.
The reason given is that the time 'The Corpse Bride' was set in was a peak time of immigration from England, Ireland, ect. So there is potential that Victor could have ended up moving overseas to America IF HE WAS STILL ALIVE in his later life. However, the video then goes on to suggest that he died to stay with Emily and THEN moved to America. Which then no longer makes sense.
Also, a little easter egg from 'The Corpse Bride', the little guy with the blue military uniform? He is a parody of Napoleon Bonaparte called General Bonesapart. I take his presence in the movie to indicate that the Underworld isn't the same as the living world. When you die, no matter where you are in the living world, you end up in that particular place. For example, Napoleon died in the remote island of Saint Helena, whilst in exile. But he shows up here. I don't think Victor and Emily could move across the from the British Underworld to the America Underworld. It's not a whole Under WORLD some much as a town. A little like Halloween town. But this is a different realm from ours in the movie. Jack can reach our world simply by flying a long way through the sky, so Halloween town is part of the same realm as us. The underworld is like a tiny little town where veryone with unfinished business goes. That does exist on a different plane, it takes magic to move between them.
Anyway, sorry for rattling on, I was really excited someone replied to me. I think you had some great points that made me consider stuff I hadn't previously thought of. I'm glad to see others agree with me that there are a few holes in the theory.

@@Sophie-xu6cp Don't worry about rattling on, i actually like reading people's opinions and discuss them together. Continuing the disccusion, you're totally right, halloween town is most likely in the living world, i think this becuase of what you said, and the fact that halloween town looks really clean, really fresh, if you get what im saying, in the underworld of corpse bride the buildings are kind of falling down and they look old, Also if it was the underworld sally couldn't be there, becuase she's a rag doll, and no bones, means no human, which also means, she can't be in the underworld

That's a really interesting detail you picked out. I wouldn't say Halloween town is necessarily new since Halloween much like Christmas is a really old holiday celebration. Think of it more as a sort of magical town within this world, but isn't affected by time in the same way we are. It's always Halloween for example.

To me, Victor and Victoria had a more generic love relationship. Yeah, she risked getting sent to an asylum for trying to save him from, what she rhought, was an abduction. However, because we had so much time with Emily, got to know her, and even had that piano scene (a very bonding moment) it feels like victor shoukd have ended up with emily.
Also, why are people trying to make this whole "corpse bride, feanken wienie, and Nightmare before Christmas are connected" a thing? Wouldnt it make more sence that victore and Jack are distant cousins (i say cousins because of very basic bone structures) and the kid from Franken wienie is a distant cousin of jack?
Hear me out. Jack could be a human folk lore character (jack-o-lantern). He might have been a human once, but died and traded his soul. Meanwhile, a sister or brother lived on and started a fishing company. Years later, victor is born and (corpse bride happens) and victore and Victoria's kids moves to america. It could make way for all characters to be related, but not how all the fans want it to be.
