Im from Milwaukee, and I’m still here. I told everyone once they traded holiday, their defense was gonna be garbage. As much blame coaches get for their players not performing, the defense being trash was inevitable, and Doc isn’t the solution.
Anyone who knows basketball knows trading jrue was gonna make the bucks have defensive problems
they should still be better than they are though. i think 18th or somewhere around there is realistic. losing jrue shouldn't take you from top 5 to nearly dead last. they still have very good defenders on the team which is the thing.
One player shouldn't have cause going from 4th to 25th defensively , so those defensive scheme were trash too , rotation trash , he needed to be better and he didn't change
The bucks traded Jrue Holiday along with Grayson Allen, Jevon Carter, and Wesley Matthews. They are all great perimeter defenders gone from Milwaukee.

Giannis never gets his credit for carrying this team...they always want to give it to the Coach or some 3rd string player...if the Bucks had a good defense from 2018/19 isn't that before Jrue Holiday??? Didn't Giannis win a DPOY? Because Giannis anchors this defense, he got Brooke and Jrue to make the defense team while the dumb media snubbed him...part of that was because how Bud played him had him scrambling all over the place.
Doc will be good for this team. Their offense will be more organized, and he will get these guys to buy into defense because no one except Giannis plays consistent defense on that team.

I am so glad Mad Dog brought up Buds firing. I was insanely pissed when I heard the Bucks fired Bud litterally the same week his brother tragically died , I never forgot that
Well, he is wrong. Bud was bad. He refused to make adjustments, refused to put Giannis on Butler, and generally was losing the team. They were right to fire him.
At the end of the day it's a business, being a Bucks fan sure Bud had a great defensive rating with the team but offensively would get severely out coached, not only in last years playoffs but past years as well. Refusing to make adjustments on both sides of the ball....Crunch time would be Giannis go save us with an iso and not draw up a set. I'd be willing to bet money if Giannis doesn't have that insane finals run Bud gets fired that season.

Nurse was always a good regular season coach...his playoff performance is underwhelming. Jrue was a loss but he was not such a loss that they go from 4th to 22nd in defense. It's not like he is lighting it up in BOS...
The backs seems to lack and identity and to me, that is a bigger loss than Jrue holiday. Even on offense they look stale.

Yes he does. You are overrating his impact. Jrue Holiday alone does not make this a top 5 D. IT was far more than that. Bud's scheme had far more to do with it. They also had better defenders besides Jrue who are now gone.

Multiple reports of players being combative towards the coach and publicly stating they end up in situations with no plan and that they need better organization down the stretch. Not everything is that deep, he ain’t that guy yet. last i checked coaches dont play the games. Of course their talent got them to 30-13. You can say that about a lot of teams in the NBA. Also last i checked, in todays NBA defense appears to be optional. So its hilarious that they are going to oust someone cause they give up a lot of points because they score a lot too. Defense comes down to effort. Can't blame the coach if the players don't want to try.

Bucks could’ve hired Doc Rivers last summer. Why didn’t they? So they chose Adrian Griffin over Nick Nurse, Doc Rivers, and Frank Vogel only to fire the guy while the Bucks are a 2nd seed in the East.
Was it because Milwaukee was afraid of getting blowback if they hired Doc that soon after another disappointing 2nd round exit? I just think hiring Adrian Griffin was a waste of time and makes the Bucks organization look extremely unclassy. They shamed the guy when they could’ve hired Doc before the season started.
I’m out on the Bucks. They’re not getting out of the 2nd round. Nurse is the better coach and Milwaukee didn’t get him when he was available. Big mistake. I got Celtics vs. Sixers but beware of the Heat. And if we get Milwaukee vs. Miami again, I’m picking Miami because Spo is superior to Doc Rivers. Adding Scary Terry is going to improve them immensely on offense.

The Lillard trade happened after the Griffin hiring. That inevitably played a part. That is a tall order to coach a team with two top 75 players to a title as rookie coach.

As someone who watches every single Bucks game, he was on the hot seat in 21 as Windy and Stephen A said at the very end, his rotations in 22 against Boston were questionable at best despite not having Middleton. He had 36 Y/O GEORGE HILL on Tatum for 90% of that series! 19 and 20 were both terrible postseason coaching performances as well.
Griffin was not the right replacement, that doesn’t necessarily mean getting rid of Bud was a mistake.
