    You calculated the odds of drawing at least 1 brilliant fusion + at least 1 ratpier the wrong way. You can't just multiply the odds of both events since they don't occure independent form one another.
    Here is how you should do it:
    First calculate there variables:
    a being the odds of drawing exactly 1 raptier
    b being the odds of drawing exactly 2 raptiers
    c being the odds of drawing exactly 3 raptiers
    Every raptier that you have drawn can't be a brilliant fusion anymore. Therefore your sample number goes -1 for every raptier that you have in your hand. Also every raptier in your hand isn't in your deck anymore for sure, meaning that the popluation size is also decreasing by 1 for every raptier in you hand.
    Now we need to calculate the odds of drawing at lest 1 brilliant fusion for each situation (1,2 or 3 raptiers already in hand)
    a times (population size= 39/ number of successes in p.=3/Sample size= 4)
    b times (population size= 38/ number of successes in p.=3/Sample size= 3)
    c times (population size= 37/ number of successes in p.=3/Sample size= 2)
    the sum of all those three results are the actual odds of drawing at least 1 raptier + at least 1 brilliant fusion in your starting hand.

    Awesome! Great tips Cimoooooooo! That's why You are my favorite YugiTuber. Not only you about the meta and give a pretty good insight on it, but you also fit in videos with which cheap decks are viable each format, and on top of it all you also make great videos with tips and how to improve on this game! And all of those videos are in-depth but not over complicated so even players who are new to the game or not competitive can understand and even be encouraged to play a higher level. I think YugiTubimg in general is lacking that, the only other channel that does this kind of stuff is Team APS, but they don't talk so much about the meta!
    Continue with the great job! :D

    From guy who likes math about as much as you like Yugioh, I have a slight problem with the way you did your probability calculation for getting both cards. When you crunch the numbers for the ratpier by itself or brilliant fusion by itself, you did fine. However, you cant just multiply the probabilities to get the probability of both, because both those were done with the assumption of you having 5 unknown cards in your hand. If you already have a copy of ratpier (or a way to get it) you no longer have that card space to draw brilliant fusion, so you have to change your sample size to 4 for the probability of brilliant fusion before you multiply it.

  • @sumandark8600
    @sumandark8600 Před 6 lety

    For anyone who wants to know the maths behind the cumulative probability:
    For a population size of 40, and successes in population of 9 (meaning there are 31 failures in the population); the chance of not drawing any of them per draw is (31-n)/(40-n) where n is the draw number -1.
    So in a staring hand of 5 cards, the probability of not drawing any of those 9 is (31/40 * 30/39 * 29/38 * 28/37 *27/36) ~= 0.258. This is the opposite of drawing at least 1 of those 9 cards, do the chance of drawing at least 1 of them is 1 - 0.258 = 0.742 ~= 3/4. So you should open turn 1 with at least 1 of those 9 cards 3 times out of every 4. If you're going 2nd, just add another term to the multiplication above to get 0.258 * 26/35 ~= 0.192. 1 - 0.192 = 0.808 ~= 4/5.
    This is the cumulative calculation that the hypergeometric calculator does.

    try Deck-u-lator it was designed for MTG but the only sign of it is default 4 of instead of 3 of a card.
    you put in every card in deck list how many of which cards you need and it calculates odds of multiple types of cards being in a given hand size.
    helps to find the exact odds of an optimal or possibly passable hand.

    You could use a bunch of conditions in vb and add a button that ""draws" the cards for you and automatically checks if your deck actually passes those tests(or objectives). This would give you all the info you need in a second.
    You would have to create a different sheet for each deck tho. .. brb

    7:56 you can’t multiply those together. If you do, that’s the chance of getting each of those hands from a separate deck. Your sample size should be 4 for one of those calculations since you want 2 cards in the opening hand and they can’t be in the same spot. Small difference in the end but a technical one.

    I just want to say thank you for putting forth this information. I am familiar with that calculator you brought up, but the deck builder's toolkit I wasn't. I truly believe if people want to become more hardcore competitive YuGiOh, he or she MUST learn basic probability and do calculation tests. Yes, YuGiOh is "luck"(which is just statistical chance), but it is important to see the chances of you opening up specific cards. Especially, if you are playing a rogue deck to which naturally will have a harder time against a meta deck due to a lower ceiling. So it is important to test out hands.
    For instance, I am playing Dinomists which are fantastic against Zoo. Yes, D-barrier and Strike exist, but the deck can survive Drident and board wipes very effectively due its pendulum scales and even Dinomist rush. And the deck gets even better with Howling in MACR as it is a Compulse/Pieletes and a one card pendulum scale. So yeah, this testing will definitely help. :)

      Techinically, you have 6 copies of each. The terraformings are either field spell, so you add 3 to both of the 3 copies you already have. The consistency should be .577 x .577

    • @Mojo1800
      @Mojo1800 Před 7 lety

      You have 6 copies of each card, terraforming also immediatly thins the deck so you may consider your deck smaller using it similar to upstart goblin

    • @sumandark8600
      @sumandark8600 Před 6 lety

      3 copies of each is 9 in total. So your successes in population is 9.
      So the chance of not drawing any of them per draw is (31-n)/(40-n) where n is the draw number -1.
