Definitely don't go off the designated roads there. There's a lot of water you don't see that's under the salt crust there.
That's why they can't race there as often as they used to. The mining operation across the highway has caused a lot of the salt crust to become undercut by erosion from their tailing ponds.

I hate to disappoint you but there is an Island in the Caribbean called Great Ignagua that Morton Salt owns. I was there with the Air Force monitoring aircraft out of Columbia. They pump water out of the ocean through a canal system into fields. It then dries out and the put it onto boats to ship it to Miami. Huges like boulders.
Well, we literraly saw the Morton Salt Co. out there mining the flats. So both can be true!

Her fatal crash was actually in the Alvord desert of Oregon. The speeds she was trying to get up to are not really practical in a jet powered vehicle at Bonneville anymore like they were in the past decades so many teams have adapted to other locations in the world.
