48 years later, In 2022, and it's the "Year of the Tiger" again, just like it was in 1974.
This video is definitely not from 1974, just look at those eighties clothes and hair doo's!
Plus there's no Marty Balin, David Frieberg, or Papa John Creech.
I saw the Jefferson Starship's first performance at the Winterland Arena in San Francisco, California, USA, on 4/20/74.
They were not listed as the headliner, as this was a surprise appearance.
    Link Wray opened the show.
Jefferson Starship started their set with "Ride the Tiger".
Somebody blew the titleing on this video big time!

Absolutely right. Also, Mickey Thomas (ugh) was not in the band in 1974.

Still sorrowful that I haven't yet been able to find a video of this terrific band with a decent audio mix. Saw them several times from '73 to '86. Always =waaaaaay= impressed.

TODAY I'm trippin on Jefferson ( Airplane, Starship, or who ever the fuck) I credit this group for expanding my listenning of music. They were killa in concert, second to NONE.

I saw em' in the summer of 75' but all the world didn't come alive and I was disappointed. Not in the concert, that was perfect to the ear, but the cancelled revolution.

    MUSIC IN TIME #045
March 19, 1974, Jefferson Airplane changes their name to Jefferson Starship. The new line-up includes Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, drummer Johnny Barbata, David Freiberg, Peter Kaukonen (younger brother of ex Airplane Jorma Kaukonen), Cragi Chaquico and 56 year old violinist, Papa John Creach. By the time the name was changed to “Starship” in 1985 after last remaining original Airplane member, Paul Kantner had left and made it legally impossible to use the work “Jefferson” or “Airplane”, this was a totally different band. But, yes, it’s Grace Slick, aka The Acid Queen, who sings on “Somebody to Love”, “White Rabbit” AND “We Built This City” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”.

Saw them in St. Louis 74 or 75. Kansas opened for them. Didn't care much for Kantner until he sang Caroline.. Grace was looking good that night in black dress and Papa John had a good time on the violin. As always could of played longer. Good seats, Good show !!

Jefferson Starship played at the Kabuki Theatre in San Francisco on March 14, 1974, 5 days earlier than your reported name change of March 19, 1974, which was the date of their Auditorium Theater (Roosevelt University Theater in Chicago, Illinois) show, their second ever performance.

At 3:42 Kantner seems to suggest the song was recorded in 1983. The composition of band members in the video and their appearance seems to confirm that date.

This was not 1974, Mickey Thomas was not with the band at this time. How do I know? I saw the Jefferson Starship on their Dragonfly tour in 1974. They played nearly all of Blows Against the Empire, Dragonfly and older Airplane songs.

Nope. this was 1983........the song was released in 74 under the name - Paul Kantner - Jefferson Starship - Grace Slick. It was the first "unofficial." album under that name....the following year is when the band was fully formed/reformed w/the album Red Octopus' in 75.
