Having Fun in Low Tier with the Bf-109 F-2 | War Thunder Air RB

- In today's video, I flew out the Bf-109 F-2 since a fan requested that I check it out after the German 15mm buff, and I was pleasantly surprised by its performance.
The F-2 at 3.0 BR has good flight performance and now also has usable guns to go with it, which makes it a great pick for a fun low tier plane to fly out!
Over the course of 14 games, I racked up a total of 73 kills without dying. I'm not trying to flex when I say this, instead I am showing the potential of this plane and all 109s if you play them properly without making mistakes.

This gun works better for me than the 20mm, maybe due to velocity, who knows.
Just tried it myself, yeah it absolutely slaps. Damage feels about the same ish.
Definitely hitting more rounds tho I guess them being hella slow and lowtier planes not being as tanky helps a lot too.
@@DEFYN yea I never gave the 15mm the light of day until I started playing this aircraft, they are pretty easy to aim and do good damage now.

It used to be a peashooter that you had to put a fat burst with to kill even single-engine props.
I remember that my first 3 kills Air RB match was with this plane. I will give it a try again sometimes soon.
I can’t remember that they’ve been buffed. I saw an old post of me in the old forum and even then did the 15mm FI-T deal more damage than the 20mm FI-T.
I can only assume that something changed the way explosive shells cause fires.
Since they don’t have realShatter implemented, they explode in a large sphere and the ability to set fires is just crazy high, presumably because each fragments has the same fireChance modifier.

The F2 is possibly my favorite 109, Br for Br. The 15mm is a flamethrower and the climb rate is astonishing, even in a full uptier facing 4.0 planes I end up in the top 5 on my team
Thank you for this video Mac. When I see your games with F-2, I think I'm probably being too cautious with the same plane..keeping alt or avoiding the furballs, which makes me miss a few kills maybe.
Hey man the yak3u is a beast at its br. It’s the best prop in game imo.
100% the most overpowered prop for its respected BR.
It comes with op teams to since 109s and Americans dont climb but yaks do
@@sule.A honestly the American teams are the worst to play with since your dogfighting someone and then all of the sudden they die and it’s a 2v6.
To me, prop/early jets are the real War Thunder airplane stuff, not these missile crap.

You need the mouse for this plane, I've tried it the last couple of days and the most kills I've got in a match was only 2. I've had plenty of chances for kills, but most of the time I'd put a burst into the enemy only to get a basic hit out of it ...or I'd get damage them but they'd get cleaned up by a teammate soon after. You just don't have the accuracy needed to put a long enough burst on target to get kills using a controller.
Still fun to fly though and I've had really good fights with spitfires using the F2, but I prefer the 20mm 109's ( and even the E1) over this. It just was too frustrating putting a burst into an enemy only to get 25 hit points worth of damage.
Playing with controller is just miserable no matter what, I do not recommend it

Not the first Bf109 to start the game with since E-1 is probably one of the better general starter planes but specifically talking about the energy fighting.
I think the f-1 and f-2 are the best, yes.
These earlier F models don’t turn nearly as well but are better in the vertical/energy fight. They are a good transition into the later 109s which are pure energy fighters.

Fw-190 A-1 is a great plane, and most of the rank 2 bf-109s are also good.
The bf-110 G2 is also decent, but that might be rank 3, I can’t remember.
