Ed was so underrated as a writer and a player. Ronnie knew it and not until he found Steve Gaines was Skynyrd complete after Ed left. I cried when i learned of Eds passing. He seemed like such a genuine and kind person too to go with that talent.

All of the instruments in this video are suitable for being in a museum, but they were made to be played and enjoyed so hopefully that what the future owners will do with them.
I will say that museums like Songbirds in Chattanooga that actually let people play the instruments is a brilliant best of both worlds concept.

      Sapele Steve
Mr. Carter has written numerous books about vintage guitars and mandolins.
I do agree that it would make an excellent book if wrote one specifically about the most significant instruments that have come through the store in the seven years they have been open. As someone who lives near Nashville a visits this store on a regular basis I say that they have had(and currently do have) a lot of interesting instruments in addition to the ones featured in this video. The same goes for amps too which is my gear obsession.
On a side note, Mr. Carter “co-wrote” Gruhn’s Guide to Vintage Guitars.

Personally, I would give second place to Chicago Music Exchange, but only because of the extensive variety of new gear that they sell, and the fact that they cater to all skill levels(as does Carters) and all price levels(Carters doesn’t really much on the lower price level).

I love Carter Vintage Guitars and I have bought several things from them. Normally, even celebrity owned instruments are priced similar to what the same instrument would be worth without the celebrity ownership. There have been some exceptions like this one, and personally I think this one is overpriced.
However, when you consider the fact that David Gilmour’s Black Strat(which was also from the 70s) just sold at auction for over $5 million this could be a bargain.

I second the other person’s opinion of Squier Strat(or Tele) especially if you can find a used Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified model in your price range.
Your price range would get you a brand new Affinity Series Squier, but the next step up in the Squier brand is a significant improvement. That being said the Affinity Series is great for the price.
