- In today's episode, Mega Man X goes XTREME. Except, not...really? Kinda more of the same, honestly. But it's for the Game Boy, so how does it fare?

Can't run away from X7 forever, Johnny...
_Heeheehee..._
BURN! BURN! BURN TO THE GROUND!
In the wise words of knuckles the echidna...... "OH NO"
U PUNK! U PUNK! U PUNK! U PUNK!
TRIANGLE KICK!
WHY MUST REPLOIDS FIGHT ONE ANOTHER
Fun Fact: The events of Xtreme 2 are actually referenced in X6.
Sam Diamond I see
I thought you were pit in then I looked closer than you were
@@Super_Suchi Oh, now I get that line in X6: "This is similar to the Erasure Incident..." I thought that was a badly translated spelling of "Eurasia Incident", and that wouldn't make sense to connect that part (outside of the opening intro) to Isoc's "death", I guess.
So the gbc series are canon?
@@buccaneerguy8197 Always have been (Fun fact: Iris makes an appearance in Xtreme 2. Her first one, chronologically).
I've known about these games for a long time but I've never bothered playing them. Glad I finally got to see what they were all about!
Hi nitro!!!
I owned both out of sheer brokeness and lacking other consoles that had offerings for the series
@@BastardOfTheNorth The main reason I bought extreme 1 because of nostalgia for the SNES game. At that time, I didn't own an SNES, but my cousin did
Hey you're that dude from the thing
I've heard literally no one even mention these so this review is the first time I'm seeing them.
You know when you announced you were reviewing this I thought "Huh I never knew MegaMan X had game boy games". Then the next day I loaded up my 3ds and learned I had downloaded it from the e shop years ago and completed the whole thing.
Crazy
Rushi Desai Were you drunk one night and impulse buying on the e shop?
@@Keurgui1 I was like 15 when I bought it. No. I just think it was on sale and I already had like 20 bucks loaded in. So I spent like a dollar on it and some other games. It's really short. So I probably just beat it and forgot about it. I have the 3 Snes MegaMan X games so I never really needed to play it ever again.
6:23 Ah yes, the evil mastermind Sigma’s laugh is: “Hee Hee Hee”
10/10 villain
Clement: I hate that laugh!
i can't wait to see X7's comment section be nothing but:
"BURN! BURN! BURN TO THE GROUND! BURN TO THE GROUND! BURN!"

@@TimGaukerToons A R E. Y O U. M A D?
BIG CHEESE?!
Congrats, you're right on that one.
AROUND AND AROUND!
"Wily-Nily"
That was pretty good.
"In the end it's Sigma behind everything"
At this point might as well start a drinking game
Mega man X7 is next.
Good luck, Johnny. And don't get burned.
I don't think he's worried. He's taken on games that are WAY worse.
He is scared of X7 and is just delaying the inevitable.
The fact that he has to play it.
Memesus Christ
The day is coming
Can you blame him?
Woke Mario
I think the reason why some levels are different in Xtreme 2 is because those were the X3 levels and were done by Minakuchi Engineering, and thus, the Capcom team wanted to give their own spin on it, at least, from what I can tell, since Minakuchi didn't work on this game.
Probably more that Xtreme 1 got flack for it in reviews, since previous portable Mega Man's got unique levels to their console counterparts. So for the sequel, they went back to what worked
I don't even play Megaman, but I had to show some support!
+Floesion You should really play some Megaman. It's really fun if ya get into it.
Floesion Same! I love Mega Man but have none of his games.
+Iron Blaze But how does this wo-
Meta Ridley, aka The Cunning God Of Death When you’re like me and wish you were a 90s kid as well as have no older consoles from the sixth generation backwards, you begin to understand. It also doesn’t help when your parents are old and your only brother that lives with you is into PlayStation.
Floesion you should play it, its hair pulling but fun
Haha people still in school.
...goddamn I feel old T_T
Same, except I'm a senior student.
You got a alone my little cousin asked me what was a VCR and I broke mentally little bit
I don't, I still have summer vacation for another month xD
Same here, I'm watching at work. While still working I should add!
@@spacethegamer6426 Dang, where do you go that you get summer vacation that long?
Man, Xtreme looks pretty good for a GBC game
RootBeer I know, it’s smooth as heck!
It was a really good game. Surprisingly it is actually harder than the mega man x games or at least it was in my opinion.
@@stevesteve0521
Nah. It's way easier than the games it's based on.

Oh, I noticed you have Klonoa Empire of Dreams on your GBA collection, I would love to see a review of that!
YES, that should be a thing
Yeah, a Klonoa Marathon would be great! Even if he can't play Klonoa Heroes.
+Slobberytech88 Yeah I wouldn't mind that. Exo already covered the Japanese only games so I couldn't care less if Johny skipped Heroes.
I was literally gonna comment the same thing, I love Klonoa.
Actually, they did an english patch for Moonlight Museum, so he could review that too
Speaking of the Game Boy. You should do a Wario Land Marathon including Wario World and Masters of Disguise
I played Wario Land 4 in July for the first time,
Its now one of my Favorite Games of All Time
WL4 is incredible.
MoD isn’t perfect but I have a lot of fondness for it.
A new Johnny video makes any day perfect!
Agreed.
Brave Lady Lyn Right you are.
Fact
Hm. And I was just on a SomeCallmeJohnny binge. So the stars have aligned. If Johnny, does this game, hopefully he tries Megaman V at least once. It's a pretty good romp if I do say so myself.
He did the entire classic series a while back ;-)
I think they mean the handheld version.
i think team dusk means the game boy megaman games derps
V means the gameboy game while 5 is the nes game
Team Dusk Same. I was just watching his Mega Man X review.
Wow Johnny decided to upload after I got home from school
Sorry I’m in one of those schools that lets us go home early
Lucky.
lol i still have until labor day
Pfft, children. I'm out of school.... Enjoy your youth kids, its all downhill afterwards.
@@projectbelmont7177 very true
I'm in college lol, my class just released.
As a kid I didn't have access to the X collection for awhile so Xtreme 2 kind of filled that void of wanting to play those kinds of games. And honestly I think it's an awesome handheld game. =] Thanks for reviewing it as always.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one
Still can't wait for his X7 review. I gotta see his reactions!
i finally made a video about megaman
should make more megaman videos, please make more megaman videos
inglês nota 10/10
I know it's gonna be a good day when I wake up to a new video from my favorite content creator on CZcams. You're killing it with this marathon, Hoss. Keep up the great work.
I loved these games as a kid. These and the Megaman Zero series saved my life on long car rides.
"It's the witch attire, I just love this sort of shit"
Heh, you'd _adore_ reading Umineko no Naku Koro ni; the witchiest witches that ever witched. (Also among the best stories ever written, in my opinion.)
Ah what a pleasant way to end august.
I love how the referenced the electronic music scene in the naming of Middy and Techno. I never got that as a kid, but when I replayed Xtreme 1 on my Android phone as an adult, that's when it clicked.
*Crash on Johnny's shirt is my reaction to college starting in a couple days lol*
Next Review...
"BURN, BURN, BURN TO THE GROYND, BURN TO THE GROUND, BURN TO THE G-BURN!"
I wonder if Johnny will have the same opinions on it as ProJared.
It's nice to see a review for these games, as they often get overlooked! Great work Johnny!
Berkana: "What is a Reploid? A miserable pile of parts."
Xtreme 2 also has the Time Attack mode once you beat Extreme Mode, letting you take on all eight Mavericks in a boss rush as fast as you can obviously. Except it also has the inexplicable bonus of having all of the Xtreme 1 bosses you can opt to face instead, complete as its own timed category. Pretty neat stuff.

Johnny’s worst enemy comes back to haunt him once more...
Hello people who arrived as soon as they got the notification lol

The GOAT spoiling us with a timely upload, as per usual
I'd never even heard of these games until now, so it was really cool to see them like this. The villains from Xtreme 2 seem awesome and I kinda wish we could see them again.

I didn't even know these two titles existed, actually. They seem pretty cool, despite the rehashing nature. Nice video as always!
A SomecallmeJohnny video on a weekday morning? What a pleasant surprise.
Quality content as usual John. Keep up the great work
I think I hear something in the distance. It's very faint, but I can just barely make out, "Burn to the ground!"
And I begin take out a water hose someone let Jimmy out of the cage again
Damn flame hyenard always burning shit to the ground.
I really needed this today Jonny, thank you for another amazing video
I love seeing these more obscure portable games get covered, great video.
You spoil us, John. You are very good at getting your videos out when you want to, but I was thinking that this review would come some time next month.
Oh Johnny, I really do pray for you on X7.
I wonder if Johnny will have the same opinions on it as ProJared.
I was eagerly awaiting this vid, it was awesome to watch! I've had an itching desire to play a bunch of Gameboy VC games, and this vid scratched good. Think i'll give these a DL sometime soon! Anyway great vid, and thanks Johhny.
Funny, I've been binging watching your old Megaman marathons as of late, and you just so happened to upload, a Megaman review. Neat.
Yeah Xtreme 2 was my first Mega Man X (well Mega Man in general) game. I was born too late to play the SNES games so I ended up missing out. I did play all of the X-series as a teenager though.
Also, good luck on Axl7, er, X7. If you can get through X6, then you can get through X7 lol.

Alia!! Berkana's escaped! Recruit 2 Maverick hunters with attitude!

Never seen any of your videos, even though I've had a ton of them suggested to me. Finally watching, well... This was great!
A Johnny video is a perfect surprise to come home to after work
The start button dash is super useful if you're playing on an emulator though
An upload while I'm at school, the nerve
Jesse Adair agreed.
Jesse Adair But it’s Johnny. Johnny is life.
Yay! A new Johnny video always makes my day.
Mega man xtreme 1 and 2 are the games that everyone forgot existed. More so then the mega man world series
Still can’t wait until Mega Man X 7

@@agentoosnake5490 I assure you I had Zero intention of doing such a thing, what a mega coincidence that was
@@CMW003 To the XSTREME!!
As soon as you showed Berkana I immediately love her design, and I appreciate you subsequently pointing it out, too.
Zero Mission? In Mega Man Xtreme 2?
Samus and Mega Man crossover confirmed!
Oh wait, already happened.
Here are my results for Megaman Xtreme 1 and 2.
Megaman Xtreme:Nice and memorable.
Megaman Xtreme 2:A good game.
In Xtreme 2 it's possible to get through X's campaign without armor but you'd have to be very knowledgeable in general movement and pattern of that one rocket pillar in Berkana's stage and strategic with using mercy invincibility to get to higher places later on i.e. using the bats as fodder. Learned that from recently doing no armor runs of X1-X3(each was hell in their own way) and Xtreme in anticipation for the X Legacy Collection.
But for the most part, yea you'd need all armor as it was how they designed it. Which is utter bull crap. Great video, too. Broke the games and their aspects down very well.
Gold Hatcher
Some programmers can't believe that someone would want to do an armorless run.
It happened in X6 too, specially because you always have an armor available.
That is very true. And I was going to attempt that as well. No armor also meant no hearts, weapon upgrades, or sub-tanks. X1's Sigma battle was not fun.
Nor was X3. Bosses in it were super dumb pattern wise though just Sigma was a pain.
In X6 the closest I'd get is doing up to Gate's stages without armor and doing that one stage... as Shadow armor. Since that's the hardest to get by with.
Done it before by abusing Shadow's giga attack to get across that one gap. Made Gate's fight cake.
Decied to binge watch all the videos in this marathon so far after this came out.
Was watching a megaman video, sees a Johnny notifiation, instant click! NEW EPISODE!!!!! WOOHOOOO
When I saw the title, I thought you were reviewing an unreleased Saturn game.
I get it
Gosh darn it John. I’m in US history. Why must you do this to me?! I have a test to study for.
He needs to know.... "Whut r you fightin ferr!?"
+Michael Rhett Watch the video and study afterwards. It's simple, isn't it?
Meta Ridley, aka The Cunning God Of Death Maybe. If it wasn’t starting in a few minutes.
I'm in Spanish and I just turned in my quiz >:))
Fuck the test
John, I found your new video while looking up Johnny Johnny Yes Papa memes. Go figure.
I used to play these two games a lot while I was still in high school. I don't remember liking them that much, but I had a good time playing it
You still haven't talked about the Game Boy classic Mega Man games Johnny, but you had no problem talking about the Game Boy Color X games?
+Shiro-Luna The Gameboy versions of the classic Mega man games are the same but with a massive screen scrunch. But those X games for the Gameboy bring somewhat new to the table. I guess.
The Xtreme games are literally the same concept as Mega Man World games, except done worse.
+Super Maks 64 I mean, it's better than a screen crunch.
I like your profile picture Shiro.
Give the man a break, he just played X6, he needs more time to recover for X7
I love Johnny, seriously.
ah the nostalgia takes me back again
Dude. Just so great...every video. Thank you.
OH SHOOT IT'S JOHNNY TIIIIIIIME!
We don't care if you're first. Just watch the video.
I am a PERSON 1st to reply to this comment.
I am a PERSON Shhhh let people enjoy things
your intro is such a bop
Whoa, I had no idea about the experimental progression mechanics in these games. Thanks for explaining all that! I think I want to give both of these a proper shot on the 3DS. :D
Please tell me I'm not the only one who assumed this was a Beach Volley Ball game when I read the title... no? Just me?... I'll sit in the corner...
+BassSinger313 / Aaron Vo How do get from Megaman Extreme to Volley ball?
Meta Ridley, aka The Cunning God Of Death dead or alive xtreme
Tbh, when DoA Xtreme was released I thought it was a platform shooter
You disgust me... But to be honest, I thought the same thing. Let us be disgusting together!
I mean, considering there’s Mega Man Soccer, it isn’t out of the question.
Me personally I found far more value in Xtreme 1 because of my experience with the series. I never had an SNES, so I never got to play X1-3 until getting the X Collection well after playing both of these games to death.
When I was blazing through X1's stages that were carried over, finally listening to their original music counterparts, I was blown away by how faithful Xtreme was for a Game Boy demake of an SNES game. Honestly, I appreciated that far more than the original level design of Xtreme 2 since Xtreme 2 to me was simply another game that I didn't know the originals for.
I just plain prefer Xtreme 1 is all, they're both *REALLY* good games and I highly recommend picking them both up. Cheap demakes that play about as good as their original counterparts (and in the case of Xtreme 2's X3 levels, they're way better).
Love the MM&B diss 8:27
loving the marathon so far
20 mintuites before class and nothing to do till then, and i see my favorite youtube has uploaded something, everythings coming up Shade.
You just haaaaad to post this during class. Thanks for that, I learned fuck all for my last 2 classes.
Johnny always brightens up my day :-)
Love watching these and playing megaman on my switch after work
Would love to see you review MegaMan X Command Mission! Keep up the awesome work Johnny!
Dammit Johnny! Now I have to go marathon your other Mega Man reviews again!!!
Megman Xtreme was the first Megaman game I ever played, so I have a lot of good memories with this game and how it introduced me to the series. Also this is my opinion, but I think that some songs sound way better in Xtreme than the SNES version, especially Chill Penguin’s stage theme.
Loving this new upload schedual
Can't wait to see you do the Zero and ZX series.
Im looking forward for when Johnny eventually gets around to the Megaman Battle Network series, those games were a great deal of my childhood, and will definitely help him understand why Network Transmission was the way it was.
Sitting around full of boredom, get notification, see Johnny uploaded... Awe Yeah today just got better
Oh wow! I don't have it anymore but I had a copy of Megaman Xtreme. It was the first and only megaman game I ever played, and I've been trying to remember what game it was since the start of the marathon.
Thanks for the reminder Johnny!
I suppose to go to bed early but I had to watch Johns new Mega Man X video first :)
1:27 dude that crash shirt is epic
10:54 October won't be able to catch up to me when I switch into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE! October rolls along and he still hasn't reviewed X7. I knew I should have gone with the turbo.
I love this vs. Johnny theme. It’s so good!!

Great video dude
As a preteen, I remember beating Xtreme 2 and all it's modes. It still hasn't been touched since over twenty years later. I haven't played any Mega Man X games prior to X4 so it was a surprise to hear they reused the bosses. I remember having all kinds of abilities with Zero and using everything to beat the final boss.
“Vava Fett” XD
Vile’s Japanese name makes the similarities even more obvious
Love these videos!
