Overwatch 2 is a first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. As a sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game intends a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP modes was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked. Overwatch 2 is free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access as of October 4, 2022 and features full cross-platform play.
Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter, where players are split into two teams and select a "hero" from a roster of 35 characters. Characters are organized into a "damage" class, responsible for offensive efforts; a "support" class, responsible for healing and buffing; and a "tank" class, responsible for the team's protection. Each character has a unique set of skills, made up of active, passive, and an ultimate ability. Overwatch 2, like its predecessor, primarily centers on player versus player (PvP) combat across several different modes and maps, and includes both casual and ranked competitive matches.
since some people are confused:
- mercy is from switzerland. she speaks german because it's one of the official languages there since "swiss" is not a language
- roadhog was born in new zealand but moved to australia to assist in the omnic war
- bastion was built in germany
- reaper was born in the united states, however, his ethnicity is hispanic
- symmetra and reaper are not black (how do you think that 💀)
- torbjorn is swedish, making his daughter, brigitte, also swedish. reinhardt is german and is brigitte's godfather, but isn't related to either of them (he's torb's best friend)
- baptiste is from haiti, a french speaking country, which is why he speaks french
- tracer is not australian, she literally has the flag of the uk on her jacket
- orisa is from numbani, a fictional city in africa
Correct. While Numbani may be a fictional country, its located near what would be Nigeria if i am correct.
it's just that mercy got a german voice actress instead of a swiss one, i can hear it and the difference in accent, and the use of standard german instead of authentic "swiss german" is noticable. when you play the game in german however, mercy's voice actress is in fact swiss
A slight correction, but Baptiste speaks Haitian Creole, not French. The languages do sound similar, but they each have a different structure.
Baptiste is actually fluent in Hatian Creole, French, and English.

Ramattra is actually Egyptian, he was built as a ravager in Egypt from Anubis and it's why he looks like a Pharaoh, but after the awakening he settled in Nepal. So he would be Egyptian-Nepalise.

True, while most of her iconography ties her to her Egyptian heritage, her father is a Canadian Native American man named Sam. We see them meeting during the Christmas comic and he was named dropped in an interaction between Pharah and Ana, bit not much is known about him otherwise.
I’d like some more Eastern European representation. We have Zarya and that’s basically it. I mean, we don’t have a balkan or a baltic hero. I can understand not wanting to stray near hotzones of controversy and tension (Ukraine, all of the Yugoslav states) but not even a Pole or a Greek?

Numbani is a made-up city, not a country. Lore-wise it's also not in Nigeria, just near it.
Orisa was built in the fictional African city of Numbani, which is supposed to be located somewhere near Nigeria, and Doomfist is Nigerian.

Brigitte is Torb's daughter, and mercy speaks German because it is the official language of Switzerland (Swiss is not a language)
Although apparently in the English version of the game, Mercy's VA is German so her accent is off according to Swiss players.
Reinhardt was the one who named Brigitte, that's why she has a German name.
