- I begin colouring a page in Symphony of Cute Animals with Derwent Inktense Pencils as light washes before I come back in Part 2 with coloured pencils.

Jackie, thank you so much for this video! Watching how you use Inktense as a wash was SO helpful for me to see! BTW, I LOVE all the animal rescue stories. I am so proud of the work you've done with sweet Hamish. And I do agree that dogs truly pick their owners. Snickers definitely chose me. Glad it was helpful! I love the Inktense now but it was a bit of a learning curve coming to terms with how they best suited my needs 😁 Snickers was such a cutie pie, thanks for your well wishes for Hamish ❤️

Not boring in the slightest.. greatly enjoyable. I have no issue with shorter videos, they actually work out better for me. I tend to watch in the bit of time I have before I go to work and it's much easier for me to keep up when they are broken into parts.

Hi Jackie, so nice to hear you again and see you coloring for us. I quite understand how time intensive animals can be especially as Hamish has had previous owner problems. You are an angel to have rescued him and am sure he will work out just fine..it just takes time. I enjoy hearing all your animal experiences too, so don't change anything, you are great!

Not at all boring. I enjoyed hearing about your rescued pets, and how Hamish is coming along ❤ All our pets were rescued. First, came “Smiff” the ginger Tom cat, when we lived in Birmingham. He was an abandoned kitten that was turfed out when a relationship broke down. The landlady that my husband had, took care of him and said that if we adopted him when we finally moved down there, she would have him castrated and vaccinated. He even moved back up to Scotland with us. Next came “Bobby Dog” a Springer Spaniel/Collie Cross and finally, “Oscar” the Guinea pig, whose hair I was allergic to. Bobby was the last, we decided after him, we wouldn’t adopt any more. To heartbreaking when they go 😢 Looking forward to the second part, as and when you can do it Jackie 😊
It certainly is very hard saying goodbye to our furry family members, they stay in our hearts forever though ❤️ I just love how every animal - no matter the species, has its own character and animal lovers recognise that and get so attached. Thanks for spending time with me again Audrey 😊
Loved to hear a longer Hamish update, fingers crossed he will keep improving and eventually even happily jump into the car. There must be some dark associations or memories there. You kinda make me want to pull out my Inktense more, I've been lately doing a very similar base work with felt tip pens scribbled onto random smooth surfaces :D
Thanks so much, we will never know what has happened to him but hopefully with time he will become more confident. He’s already improved so much ❤️ I seem to go through little phases of markers or Inktense….it’s rare that I colour a page just in pencil these days - I’m too impatient 😁

Hi Jackie , I was excited to see a new video of yours to watch . Love how it’s coming along , I feel much more at ease using inktense after all your video ‘s . I colour along too . Glad Hamish is doing well , I used to have two pet girl bunnies when I lived in a more rural area , one escaped , she was only gone half an hour before we found her , a few weeks later we had 6 baby bunnies ! 😂

I always love the work you do with Inktense, I’ve been trying them a bit using a Tombow blender pen and am liking the results, still need some more practice. I was colouring tonight in Petites Poupées while watching your video. Thanks for the update on Hamish, and I loved hearing about your animal, bunny and bird rescues. Poor boy bunnies, no wonder they were fighting so much! Take care, I know what it’s like when you’re too tired for hobbies, it feels like something’s missing from the day.
The blender pen with Inktense pencils is another great way to work with them, especially when the paper can’t cope with a lot of water. Thanks for watching, I appreciate you listening while I chat ❤️ I still get a little annoyed when I think about that pet store owner - those poor bunnies cooped up together, we were partly to blame though for assuming they’d know what they were doing, and didn’t think to check ourselves 🤪

Hi Jackie good to hear how well Hamish is doing. Henry I was young I often had a dog or cat follow me home. Even had a bunny follow me. We gave the bunny to a family as they had one or two. I love animals. Lovely page so far. 😊💜

Loved hearing all about your other rescue pets each one sounds lucky to have been taken care of in your house.
It’s always lovely to watch you but progress with Hamish and your own down time is precious, so take your time and make a video when you are not feeling pressured even if that’s for ages and ages❤❤

Hi Jackie, I’m another that colours along listening to you even though I’m doing a different page. Mine is a Rita Berman page in her Asia book but I’m doing sand too, though not with Inktense. Have you ever used Inktense in any of her books? I personally prefer your chatty videos whether about life or colouring than those that just have music. Love hearing about Hamish and your previous pets. Thank you for giving these animals the best life possible.

I pulled out my CAD museum aquarelles and had a go in my US version of Forest Song this weekend.. I'm going to replace it once the updated version is released so decided to use it as a test subject. Taking the color off the pencils, it destroyed the paper.. it didn't just warp, it folded into creases and even wadded up in areas such as the sky. Even with pressing it was unable to be salvaged. I was surprised it never tore, just stretched.
I tried the next page with Inktense directly on to the page and then activated with the least amount of water I could.. and it was better. It's warped extensively, but not torn up and unusable. Since I only had one layer of color, I had to go in with pencil over which also smoothed things out some... the end result looks like I pulled the page out, wadded it up in a ball, and then flattened it lol... but once that is done to the extent it needed to be, not sure of any benefit to the Inktense vs straight marker on the single sided paper. I think I'm just going to have to stick with alcohol marker in my Hampsons and keep the water to thicker paper. It's a shame because I really like the look and process of applying the color.
Pretty much the same thing happens to Amazon UK paper. Amazon Japan pepper takes water pretty well and the Australian Amazon paper also seems to be a little bit sturdier.
The US Amazon paper really is disheartening 😞 that sounds awful - it really does take the shine off the great art work when the paper is the pits. I think you’ve persevered long past most people would! Alcohol markers can be fun to work with and can look really effective with RJ’s style though thankfully 😊
