  • Shannon from "The Redheaded Hostess" (www.theredheadedhostess.com), gave a class at our recent Super Saturday about Scripture Journals. She shared many wonderful insights and ideas at getting more from your scripture study time as well as tips and ideas in starting your own scripture journal.
To learn more about the Book of Mormon, visit this site: mormon.org/beliefs/book-of-mormon. Or you can read it here: www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm?la.... We believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God, together with the Bible.

I still watch this video. I've probably watched it a hundred times. I am not LDS and I am not intending to become a LDS. However, I found this video and The Redheaded Hostess's blog at a time when I was really trying to understand how to read and study my Bible. This is where I learned so much about Scripture journaling and I applied a lot of the methods and ideas to my own Scripture journals. And my faith has grown immensely since I started Scripture journaling. If it weren't for this video and the blog I would still be stuck where I was all those years ago... lost and unable to read/study the Bible properly. So I give you a huge THANK YOU.

This is one of my favorite videos to review from time to time. She has such great empahsis on developing your own character as you spend time with the scriptures. A sure sign of a righteous person is their desire to help others turn to God and find out for themselves what the scriptures are saying to their heart and spirit. Thank you Shannon for your preparations and desire to help us to become more like Jesus.

So glad you uploaded this. I have been a huge fan of Shannon for a while now, but her sweet spirit comes across even more so on the video than it does on her website. It's great to hear her talk about it and not just read her words!

Shannon was blessed by her grandmother. My paternal grandmother researched her heritage for 28 years, finally publishing her genealogy in 1983. She asked me to continue researching our mutual great-grandparents, in my case, my 3rd great-grandparents. She obtained a picture of 3rd great-grandfather's personal hymnal, but other than their story shared by cousins who had bits and pieces of it, we have no personal possessions of theirs. He was an Elder, a circuit rider, and I often wonder what he preached about, what were their favorites scriptures, who did he baptize? I have found some marriage records of people he married, but don't have a log of his service. Thank you for the video. I was able to glean some good ideas for my next Faith journal.

The NIV compact study bible... i too was in love with the Mormon scriptures for the size, i am not a Mormon either, but I couldn’t get over how much i loved the size... so years of searching, i found it!.. only issue... hahaha.... is that you cant buy a cover for it. Unless you get a Mormon quad scripture case, you can get them online like Amazon. Or from dessert books it a Mormon website :) might even have a LDS store near you :)

I would start with the basic principles of the gospel (as you'll see in the youth curriculum, "Come Follow Me"). For example, God/Godhead, Jesus Christ, Holy Ghost, Priesthood, Restoration/Joseph Smith, Prophets, Commandments, Apostasy, Marriage/Family, etc.
Shannon also has a lot of great ideas on her site. A link to her blog is posted in the description of the video (above). Use her drop down menus to find what you are looking for. I hope that helps!!! Best wishes.

Yike! President Kimball! I remember in my Senior year of high school in 1978 he suddenly got a revelation from God that black people were now allowed in the "priesthood." I'm not even black but that was a huge red flag for me. Little did I know, I would marry a black professional baseball player 4 years later and have 3 beautiful, smart, Godly children.

It does matter to those who are contending for the faith, defending Jesus Christ, the Bible and the Body of Christ. Not agreeing with the religious views of this video is not a sign of disrespect. You are entitled to love it and say so, as are we entitled to not and say so.

Some negative comments made below concerning Cristian faith so lets expound on what that means. Mormons testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ? Check. Mormons have 12 Apostles? Check. Mormons have a prophet? Check. Like Paul who saw and testified of Christ, Steven also, and all the Apostles but One also killed for their testimony. Joseph Smith see's God the Father and Jesus Christ at age ?14? The world condemns him and eventually he and his brother are killed for that testimony? Check. All other religions on the Earth languish in false/changed/altered/ or man-made doctrine? Check. Sounds to me like a restoration was indeed required? Check. As per the Catholic Church "If we are not the one true church, then a restoration would be required" Check.
Many of Christ's day were also pious, as they themselves said,"We are Abraham's children" We know what Christ said of many of them? Check The spirit needs not contend.

Oh, goodness, I thought this was a Christian video, not a Mormon one.
"We believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God, together with the Bible."
You are free to believe that, but it's false. Christianity and LDS are two entirely different, separate religions. According to the LDS website, that is why Joseph Smith began it, as an alternative to Christianity!

Christ4JewsGentiles "moron doctrine"? really? is that how the Savior will treat someone else beliefs? The person in the video used gentle words that encourages spiritual motives. But your words goes to the contrary. Reflect on yourself. Are you really a true follower of Christ through WORDS, THOUGHTS, AND DEEDS?

Christ4JewsGentiles The other day I was reading a quote "Anyone who takes the time to disagree with you is interested in the same thing you are". This being said, I appreciate that you, just like us, love Christ and want to follow Him in the way you feel is right. Whatever denomination of Christians, we all love Him and should support each other for our common belief in Christ (which should be in the end the sign of our Christianity) and not point out what sets us apart. There are so many that don't know Christ at all that I would spend my time bringing Christ to them, instead of bringing your view on Christianity to other Christians. Thank you for defending Christ :) we are all in this together!
