Dude, why did you put the arp lube on the studs going into the block??? They only go in dry unless into water jackets. The top part of the stud, washer and nuts get the lube!!!!

@DamonHerndon my buddy told me he uses the lube on the bottom threads. I told him you're not supposed to because you don't want the block threads getting too much torque. The whole point of head studs. He didn't listen...got to 70ftlbs and deleted those aluminum threads so fast

As you can tell in vertical height. 1:28, Copper spray the gasket both sides, spray and install no need to wait like that. The EK could be your drag car. Dont need that much lube, and back the timing off 30º and you don't have to worry about the valves touching the pistons.

Dood! The block side threads should be nearly dry. Just light coat of oil and thread them in hand tight. The moly lube is for the washers and the top threads. That way you get the right torque on the head stud and you don’t gall the treads. The whole point of the stud is to have the clamping force on the top of the head instead of the threads in the block.
Copper spray may or may not be good for other engines but the OEM Toyota headgasket has been proved to be reliable up to around 1000hp it is multi layered and does not need copper spray

Chris you leave the head studs off and use the dowels to align the head and gasket then thread nuts onto the studs couple of threads and drop stud and nut in together You don’t need copper spray with an oem gasket it’s sandwhich triple layer design but can’t see it hurting anything
i always torque my cam caps in sequences like headstuds. so 4-8-12ftlbs so theyre seated first. always want the cams to be resting evenly before torquing too.
Those are rev9 coilovers they are cheap some what decent coils. Id really like to see you fix that trunk rust in a day tho cuz you made it sound way to easy 😅 Dont get me wrong its not hard but just time consuming to do the right way and probably hard to find a good donor but i think you should definitely weld in a new one, then if you powdercoated those wheels white with some new decals, did a rear disc conversion then eventually b or k swapped that thing, do some interior and exterior clean up maybe a lip kit, si front with clean headlights, revive the underside and engine bay a little, it could be a super sick car

I agree with the copper spray I use it for, turbo to manifold, turbo to downpipe. I don’t even use a gasket. That’s the only thing and I run zero leaks. sand the flanges flat before installation.

I would double check that you have dowels on the block for the head to mate to, and the threads and bolt holes for the studs should be dry or you can cause damage from the hydraulics as you tighten the stud down and it compresses whatever liquid is in the hole.

copper spray works like thermal paste for the gasket keeps the heat out and distributes the heat more evenly stops it splitting . don't find copper gaskets to often but there a thing also 24hr cure time on that stuff.

@8:09. if you saw the drawer i have of sacraficial tools, ie. home made specialty tools, sometimes the job just calls for taking a grinder/bandsaw/welder, ect to a tool to make it work.. this instance, i would have taken a sacraficial 12 point deep socket and groud down the outter walls until they were thin enough to fit in said location. then stash that socket away in a custom tool drawer for future use, i have sockets, wrenches alll kinds of specialty made tools for working on a nnissan 300zx vg30dett motor. ever motor has its twerks. so gotta have at least 1 custom tool for every motor you work on. its inevitable.

@24:47 from waht you shared in video everything was done great, only thing i see is you cleaned out the buckets for the lifter, but never assembly lubbed the lifters prior to install. meaning metal on metal. you did put assembly lube ontop of the face of lifter for the cam lobe. great. but the buckets are dry. def just pour some motor oil over the lifter buckets prior to installing valve covers so you know on first crank over those buckets wont be Completley dry. when assembling motor, you wanna lube every single metal part, "THAT MOVES and comes into contact with another metal part. UNLESS, it acts as a mating surface for a sealant or gasket.

Quick Tip... use a screwdriver to guide the washers and nuts onto the studs . You can even put the socket on the screwdriver to start the nuts ...

You can hear the block cracking from hydraulic displacement probably not gonna last long
5:16 the copper spray will increase the thickness of the head gasket, Wich in turn decreases the compression ratio, Wich opens room for more boost.
I’d toss a tiny turbo kit on it, ecu, clutch, and maintain it, have a decent 300 horsepower daily/summer car
Take a 12pt long socket to a bench grinder to thin the walls down to fit
