Definitely a good chunk in my case. Obviously the filming deal is not for everyone. Hopefully there were a couple items in there that you felt were useful still.

The change purse with the milkweed is a great idea. Plus, spreading milkweed seed (much to the farmers chagrin) is good for monarch butterflies!
The change purse also keeps it dry so they float better in wet conditions. I do my best to actually get the seeds off the fibers before I put it in the purse though. They are lighter that way and a truer indication of the wind in my opinion. So not actually broadcasting seeds all over.
That streamlight flashlight is a MUST for deer tracking. I use the same exact one.
I run lithium batteries in mine. Even after a late night of tracking it is super bright.
Me and hubs only buy streamlight now. It's an investment but we haven't had to replace a single one. Highly recommend
Great video ! My pack is the exact same besides I carry tp and extra batters for flashlight/trail camera. Been on some long recovery track jobs. Keep up great work !
Thanks Matt that means a lot! I generally have TP and extra batteries etc in the truck and unless I'm super far back, i'd more than likely head back to unload some gear or wait for some help before tracking. Definitely good thoughts though and can definitely relate to some long track jobs...

I just recently purchased a Go Pro Hero 8 Black but don’t know much about them tbh. Would love to know more about how to use it for hunting/different scenarios. Thank you!

As a sage and broken timber canyons hunter, who only does fair chase (no stands, blinds, roadhunting, sitting on food/water, etc), I have gotten away from packs, per se. I use an Alps Z Commander pack frame, worn over a South African LBE/LBV. Modded the LBE so the pack frame waist belt fits under it.
Average weight I am packing for an 8 mile, brutally steep day of hunting is 34lbs, which includes binos, and rifle. Lighter the better. I can pack out a boned out deer up to 120lbs myself in one trip, without a buncha shit I have never used cluttering up my pouches and making 2 trips or more, necessary.
To each their own, YMMV.

Best advice I was ever given was learn to loose arrows without a mechanical release. If you can master loosing just with your fingers than you never have the worry of a release malfunctioning and stopping your hunt.
It gets harder as the bows get shorter and shorter axel to axel. I always and I mean ALWAYS carry a spare release and have yet to need to dig it out of my pack. I think its like when you have the ice scraper in your car it never snows but as soon as you take it out for the season you get dumped on...

I have been using a Mystery Ranch PopUp 28 as my hike & hang backpack because I can use the load sheet for my Lone Wolf stand (plus on western day hunts), but it has its challenges in the tree because it has such a large opening. I found a new Sitka Tool Box for $130 currently, and I am considering getting one to try out. Looking forward to your talon review!
Next Step Outdoors have you tried swapping out that ratchet strap on you Fourth Arrow Baselayer with a cam-buckle? I did that this year to reduce weight and bulk, and it seems to be working great through the various tests I put it through.

Hey guys!! First time watching one of these. I enjoyed it. Just so everyone knows. Those sculls he has on the wall. The biggest issue the guys doing that work is making the bone white!! If you take the condensate water from any high efficiency furnace/boiler you can do a bunch of that cleaning with it. That water is very acidic. I have a friend who does 80% of his cleaning with that water which otherwise would have gone down the drain and his last 20% with chemicals.

Thumbs up for the folding saw. So many don’t carry one and try to snap a branch to remove it.
That tiny little saw has saved me a lot of times. It is hard to be a mobile hunter without one. Public can be tough since you are not supposed to saw anything in most states.

Where do you put extra clothing, I always need turtle neck, sweater, heavy jacket and any very warm clothes goes in my pack cause I would sweat walking in wearing my really warm clothes ??
The outside of my pack has a lot of compression straps and I pack in all of my layers and get dressed at the base of my tree or even up in the tree. That’s why I don’t understand when hunting pack manufactures put out packs without any straps.

What do you use to carry all the meat and antlers and whatever else you get?
It all depends. In most cases in the midwest, I'd drag the deer out to a road or somewhere I could get a vehicle. I have yet to need to pack an animal out yet but I do have another pack that I would use that is designed more for that. If that was the case, I would probably hike all my hunting gear and bow back to the truck, grab the other frame pack, and go in and pack the animal out in as few trips as possible.

Hi Tom, yeah if you just go to the Amazon Associate website you just apply and there is different criteria you have to have to meet their qualifications. I love testing products and sharing my experience so it was a no brainer for me.
Where do you carry I your feild dressing stuff??
I always carry a knife but usually that is it. Anything else, I keep in the truck. Figure most of the time you give the animal some time to expire and need to unload your other gear anyways.

EMERGENCY ONLY Chemical Hand Warmers are a must. Keep a single 2-pack separate from your other gear with an emergency fire starting kit. These hand warmers are only to be used in an emergency when you need your hands warm enough to build a fire.
That's a good idea. I normally have an extra pair of hand warmers in there especially this time of year!

I’m really curious why you use milk weed over just a bottle of wind checker. Seems like it more difficult/longer to use? Note I’m a brand new hunter so this is a genuine question. I’ve only seen one other CZcamsr use milk weed.
The windchecker powders/sprays only give you a small glimpse of what the wind is doing. Milkweed is super light weight and you can watch it farther than the 4 or 5 feet the powder shows so you can see how the wind is effected by terrain/thermals. Just gives you a better idea what is actually happening to your human scent.

Why not a vest so ammo, water, and binos are at hands reach and you don't have to stoop over or put a hook into a tree to access it. It's on you
This is more primarily for bow hunting. I do use a bino harness so my binos are always on my chest. I don't like feeling super bogged down in the tree so prefer as much of my gear to be off my body in the tree.

It depends how long of a sit. I take two nalgenes for all day sits or a nalgene and Yeti full of hot chocolate like I did today.

Extra ammo I always carry atleast 3-4 magazine loaded for whatever gun I'm carrying along with atleast 20-30 extra rounds in a box ..

TIL hunting gear involves a lot more camera equipment than I ever would have thought.
Most people do not film their hunts. I like to have those memories and share them with other people, hence why I bring all the extra camera gear.
Next Step Outdoors absolutely agree! Fourth Arrow has definitely lessened the load, but if you want good high quality video & audio that requires quite a bit of gear. I carry multiple lenses for my DSLR, and while some call it cumbersome, I feel like it allows me to capture much higher quality video and photos.
TNFishingFanatic I picked up a Sony mirrorless and may be using that in the fall some to get more cinematic shots. The only major advantage of my camcorder is the one hand operation which comes in handy when you are covered up with deer or trying to frame the shot right before the moment of truth.
Really he doesn’t have that much stuff , he just makes it easy on his self by taking more stuff than needed just in case

I mobile hunt too, so my pack is where I attach my sticks, platform, and any extra layers. Not sure a fanny pack would work well but I get your point for sure.
