Omg what a gorgeous purple flower in the opener. I take pictures and make notes in both my calendar and a journal. What I love about my smart phone is the “cloud” makes picture compilations and you can add music to,them. Thank you for sharing as always 🥰🇨🇦🐝 safe both of you and family

So inspirational. It is true, i do video and photograph, mostly to let me sit back and see what i have done,and to see what needs to be done. Your way of thinking is a great idea. I love this! I've been doing it since you suggested it to me during your visit in the autumn. Yes, it's really powerful. Today's snippet of video was a flood washing through the polytunnel :-(
That is just so cool that you've been doing the same since I saw you. That clip of the robin in this video is just for you! Oh no... the flood in the polytunnel does not sound good!

Agree 200 percent on everything you said. when you look back on pictures of the garden of decades ago every detailed memory comes flooding in that you thought you had forgotten. People always would laugh at the number of pictures I would take of everything, but I don't regret taking a single one. You can imagine how out of control I've become with a pocket phone, and I do need to add a few videos as I go along.
That's so cool that you agree with me Jeffrey! Yeah I truly believe that photos and videos are some of the most precious things we can own. I am a bit of a self-confessed archivist though! I bet you've got a fantastic valuable collection of photos
@@niallgardens I've also found these collections of pictures came in handy when I did garden talks when I lived in RI. I found people were more interested when they saw a thirty-year span of a garden. They knew I was real.
My daughter bought me a gardening journal for xmas, so I've been writing things down and taking photographs. The video is such a good idea. Thankyou!

I love my garden journal’s it shows me how far I’ve come over the years and when I planted my trees and shrubs 🌸🦋🌸
I think it's so so important to have some kind of garden journal for yourself - like you say, being able to see how far you've come is such a valuable thing!

Absolutely Fabulous Plan, am moving soon from NL to Canada to build a home and start a garden. Have never done either before, so a bit scary and exciting at the same time. Looking forward to recording our next chapter in 5 second spurts.

I love this idea! I constantly take photos for memories, the 'boring' /'normal' days are actually some of the best memories. Will try and switch this up a bit and use video x

Great idea! I will try this, I have a new puppy which means I’m walking around the garden a lot more, and have noticed so much including my peony shoots showing through! It is lovely idea to record it and as you say will get people out in the air- bound to do you good! ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
I love this idea and the sentiment of the whole video! During the first lockdown I took a photo every day for 100 days. It’s fascinating to look back on now and as you describe takes me straight back there. Plus at the time it motivated me to look at the sometimes mundane differently and record it in the form of a photo. Thank you so much for inspiring me, I’m definitely going to give a daily 5 sec video a go. 😀

Love that philosophy. I love my google memories . It pretty much shows me the same thing. Reminds me of normal days that still remind me " I did that!" Or " I did something". Great video Niall x

I do little videos sometimes in the garden but mostly when its looking it’s best would never have thought of capturing my seedlings at different stages, must try that from tomorrow. If you have evening primroses it’s a cool thing to video the flower head as it’s about to bloom, in the evening of course , they just pop right before your eyes but you will have to be patient, it’s worth the wait , Thanks for the ideas Niall. 📸 Loved your 2nd live video by the way great job 👍📸

You have schnauzers!!! I have a 12 year old schnauzy who is the best little stinker of a dog. Also this is a great video. I take a few photos every day and it's like a memory box. I can open the file from that day and so many things I had forgotten rush back to my memory. 😊 Love your channel!
We do! 2 little mini schauzers! Actually if you go to my Q&A video from last summer and skip towards the end I introduce them properly! Glad you enjoyed the video and the idea behind it!

what a great idea. I do take photos in the garden so I remember what each plant looks like especially when its in flower and when its in dormant stage in winter to see if want to keep in our very mature garden or not. not sure about starting today as think its a duvet day as very very wet here in the Forest of Dean!

Hi Niall! Just binged all your videos and glad to say that this one was on my agenda already. Moved to a new garden in North Meath recently and wanted to have it's transformation documented. (It was just grass prior)! would love to know more about your polytunnel in future, what size is it?

Brilliant, Niall! I will definitely give this a try. I love going back to my CZcams videos, but they are few and far between - one a week maximum. Adding those small clips to my daily routine is a fun idea that I'm sure I'll love ❤️

I’m definitely going to do this as we’re in the middle of landscaping the garden and I’m trying to grow veggies for the first time ever. Will be fantastic to look back on the progress. I’m starting today with the crocus bulbs I planted!

Super video and an excellent idea. Just the positive and uplifting start to a cold, wet Sunday morning in NI that I needed to spur me into action. I’m going to give it a go and have just made my first 5 sec video. (I might cheat and make several and just save one! 🤔 You did say ‘your rules’ 😀)
Ah that's super! At this rate I'm going to have everyone recording little clips from their day! I also take several in a day when I'm in the mood!

If you use an iPhone, the photos app will actually group the videos into memories quite nicely. That would be my main recommendation 👍
It focus you on something else
