  • "Time and Again" was a retrospective television series that aired on MSNBC from 1996 until 2000. The show, hosted by Jane Pauley, ran 60 minutes and its format consisted of showing clips from NBC News archives throughout the years, revolving around historical events or groundbreaking pop culture icons. In this episode of "Time and Again" that originally aired in 2000, the show covers news events that focused on Walt Disney, the creation of Disneyland, the creation of Walt Disney World, interviews with people like George Lucas and how he brought Star Wars and Indiana Jones to the Parks, the controversy around EuroDisney and the infamous theme park Michael Eisner tried to build in Virginia called Disney's America. This is truly a unique look at the history of the Disney Company and it also contains one of the most fascinating segments around how Walt Disney World came to be.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Craig Olsen who recorded this show back in 2000, transferred it to digital and was kind enough to share it with the Disney Avenue community. If you also have any Disney specials recorded over the years and would like to share it with the Disney Avenue community, we would LOVE to hear from you. Drop us a line at keith@disneyavenue.com. When I was 17 I was a huge Walt Disney fan, I went to Disney all by myself and camped out in a tent at Fort Wilderness. I knew who everybody was in the company, then one day I was on the beach at Fort Wilderness, and I saw Dick Nunis, I went up to him introduced myself to him. He shook my hand and chatted with me for quite some time. He seemed very amazed that a young guy like me knew who he was. But at that point I've read every piece of literature there was to read on Walt Disney, Disneyland, and of course Walt Disney World. He was a very genuine man for the 10-15 minutes we talked back and forth, leaning on the post and rail fencing that divided the beach area from the rest of Fort Wilderness Resort.

Disneyland really got no respect in the 1980s and 90s. Part of that was Disney's own sales pitch for WDW. But as WDW has grown and arguably overgrown in the ensuing years, I think Disneyland has aged quite well in the years since this doc. Just a thought.

Can you imagine a world without Walt Disney? If young Walt had been hit by a bus in Kansas City, entire cultures, histories, technologies, and economic resources would never have happened.

LOL Dick Nunis obviously has a toupee on. It's easy to tell by not only it's poor quality but also because I saw a '60 Minutes' segment from 1972 that featured him & in that he was nearly bald on top.

Btw, it’s not just the location they faced in Virginia count the inclusion of Slavery and War Violence, cold weather, and the initial opening to financial struggles in Paris in its first few years of operation.

2:12 It's confusing when he talks about the nearly completed train station. They are showing main street with the train that is a ride around the park. I am assuming he mean the monorail.

I noticed that too. News people were going on the information provided by Disney's press department, but I think NBC misunderstood.

Watch the movie called the "Florida Project" if you want to see what happen in Kissimmee. It's not Central Florida's Meth, Fentanyl & Heroin Abandoned Drug Haven. Thanks, Disney

20:53, why couldn't this NBC logo, bottom at the right-hand corner, be shown, during primetime or daytime?
