  • This dovetail alignment board makes transferring tails to pins a breeze! This jig does not need to anything special. You need two boards that are square to one another. Additionally, you need to put a fence on one edge. That is the extent of what is required for this jig to work effectively. Make it as fancy or as plain as you like! I've seen many people make these with dovetail joinery. I chose to use a rabbet joint and hold it together with pegs and screws. I didn't want to cut dovetails on a jig as I was itching to cut them on a piece of furniture.

Good one. The rotating display at the beginning is a good attention getter.

I always enjoy your content brother! I’ve got a pair built a few years back for doing wide carcass work, but they’re not near and nice as this one 👍. Hope you and the family are doing well

What is that plane at 1:40 called? I really want to put one on my wish list!

It is a router plane. That one is from Lie-Neilsen. Veritas also makes one. Vintage Stanley/Records/etc are pretty easy to find on the second hand market. There are some kits available or you can make one yourself.
The book "How to make woodwork tools" by Charles Hayward has plans for making one in it. You can make the blade from an old chisel. That book is old and available online for free.

Couldn’t you have just used the front of the bench instead of making that?

The strip of walnut on the side of the jig is the helpful part that the bench by itself doesn't have. It acts as a stop making it easy to get a consistent left to right alignment. Having the jig isn't required to transfer marks. The alignment can be done by feel/eye.
