  • This video is based off of my TPMS reset guide from the AllSentra Forum:
    www.allsentra.c...
    This is a quick guide on how to reset the TPMS light on Nissan and Infiniti cars without the Consult-III tool. All you need is a paperclip that's straighten out. Quick video on the fly. You can skip to 14:45 to see the light turn off to skip my 10 mins of driving.

    This procedure worked on my 2006 Nissan titan. The only thing different is the tire pressures which are front left 36 psi, front right 33 psi, rear left 27 psi and the rear right is 30 psi. You do have to drive it for 10 min or until the tire pressure warning light comes completely off. Because while its blinking it means its learning. It will turn off! Then it will turn on back again... that's when you put the right tire pressure on all 4 tires. This is what I did on my 2006 Nissan titan LE. Anyway thanks for this video!!!! It's save me a lot of money... God bless you brother!

    On my 2012 Altima, it doesn't do anything when tapping the clip, continues to flash while on ON position. After about a minute it stops flashing and stays on. I did make sure that I had the right hole on the pin. Top left hole.

    I believe I have found a simpler method for reprogramming TPMS sensors.
    - I got in my G37 and started it
    - I drove approximately 1.2 miles
    - I pulled in to COSTCO
    - I kindly asked if they could reprogram my TPMS
    - 7 minutes later my TPMS was reprogrammed & the warning light went off.
    - I offered the COSTCO guy $20, he didn't take it.

    • @gforever
      @gforever  Před 7 lety +8

      That's great! If everyone was nice as your Costco guy then it would have saved me time & effort. The dealer wanted to $40 charge me and so did local shops for about $20 for something that should be real simple so I opted with this method which costs $0 and about 10 - 15 minutes .

      This nonsense started out of the blue today..not sure why. It did snow last night, not sure if driving in it briefly goofed up a sensor. Who knows but I'll give this a try first - going through different videos and they seem the same - the specific tire pressure. Yeah I'm on the US east coast where attitudes are different, maybe not as friendly (lol). No way this would be free for me, so this -hopefully- simply trick will save me 40-50 bucks! Amazing how you have to do these insane steps to reset this, I appreciate the video!

    Very good film, thank you. I did that procedure once on our 2009 Nissan Sentra. Now I need to do it again, so decided to watch the process again to refresh memory on it. I have 3 questions here:
    1. @3:33 Does it matter which pinhole to use to insert the clip in?
    2. Ho long does it take for the TPMS light to come after you replaced the wheel w/another wheel, which has a different (from others original ones) sensor? The thing is that on alignment the mechanic told me that he would rather use a full size spare wheel, which I brought for balancing, than the one I had on the car and which had a bent lip. So he put that spare wheel (that wheel had a different sensor, which was never programmed), did alignment. I expected the TPMS light, bcs of that different sensor present on one of the tires. But it never came. I thought it was bcs the original tire was still in the car. But after I removed the spare tire with that bent lip, still there was no TPMS light. Then I went to a different dealer for some work, I couldn't do myself (it was front suspension replacement). After that replacement they did alignment again of course. I came back, no light (so we know that there is one sensor on the car which is different fm other 3). After couple days we needed to go somewhere, and when I started to drive the TPMS light came and stays there.
    3. That relearn procedure described in this film, does it work only on the old sensors, which were previously programmed? Or you can use it if you installed 1 totally different TPMS sensor?
    Thank you again. Very informative and detailed film.

    Worked great on a 2007 Nissan Maxima SL. The plug can be reached easily from the fuse box under the steering wheel. Plenty of metal to ground to. And YES you do have to set the tire pressures as noted. I tried while leaving the pressures at 33-35 psi and the system reset but left the light on. Setting the pressures to 34,31,29, 26 must set a curve of some sort. The light comes back on, but then set to 35 and drive for 2 minutes it went back off for good. Thanks for the video.....

    This didn't work for my 2013 Frontier. Being an electronics geek, I actually made a connector assembly and soldered it in parallel with the Nissan connector and then a momentary switch and alligator clip. I was unsure that the paper clip method was actually making contact. I tried a few different tire pressures to no avail. All I did was burn $5 in gas (the Frontier is a thirsty beast). Maybe I have a bad sensor.

    Replaced one of the TPMS sensors on my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder LE V8 after the battery in the sensor died. Replaced the sensor with an aftermarket brand (VDO) purchased from O'Reilly Parts store at $50 vs. original Schrader brand. Pep boys installed and rebalanced tire for $27. However, Pep Boys did not have the attachment needed to reset the TPMS system. I tried the technique in this video with no luck, it would not reset. Took it to discount Tire and they reset the system for $25 and the warning light on the dashboard is now off. Of note, I asked Discount Tire if they would install a new TPMS sensor at some point in the future if I provided them with a new sensor. They said they would. This would be the cheapest route since Pep Boys is not able to reset the TPMS system after a new aftermarket sensor has been installed. I have read elsewhere that the Nissan dealership wants at least $200 for the installation of just one new TPMS sensor and $60 for just a reset.

    • @kirkmarthens3388
      @kirkmarthens3388 Před 5 lety +1

      The Factory Service Manuals actually calls for those exact air pressures. Tire position Tire pressure kPa (kg/cm2 , psi)
      Front - Left 250 (2.5, 36)
      Front - Right 230 (2.3, 33)
      Rear - Right 210 (2.1, 30)
      Rear - Left 190 (1.9, 27)

    Manual says 10 miles to reset.I assume that the sensors themselves were okay and your video was just to relearn them. If batt is out on the sensors then that would be a total replacement? The light never would reset.

    OK, I did all on 2996 Xterra, the light started flashing when it went into a learn mode, I went on a drive and after 5 minutes it beeped for 5 seconds and stayed on. The pressure is good in all tires, does that mean one or multiple of the units are bad? I may need to change the tires anyway soon, I see something called TPMS service kit on the installation, will that replace the units or would I have to buy new ones?

    • @gforever
      @gforever  Před 8 lety

      If your buying new tires, I believe that TPMS kit is a new set of 4 tpms units.

    just check tire pressure normally - if light comes on, cover it with a black tape! YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TIRE PRESSURE ANYWAY!!

    This is frickin' stupid! You should put the proper pressure in and the car should sense it and turn off the light, PERIOD!!!

    • @gforever
      @gforever  Před 5 lety

      This procedure is ONLY needed when your TPMS have been replaced or if you have a different set of wheels for winter vs summer. Once the reset is complete, you can put the proper pressure. Agreed this process is ridiculous but so thank the car makers from the early 2000s. If you have the TPMS reset tool, have a friendly mechanic/shop, or simply extra cash for the mechanic, you can get this done through them. I am only sharing this FREE method that is known to work on my 2007 Sentra.

  • @xrain099

    Got my 07 Altima fixed using your preset pressures. Thanks a lot. I did find other videos using different preset tire pressures. For example, czcams.com/video/2H1AUsqMTWA/video.html, czcams.com/video/IOaoFCSVtQ8/video.html. I think the key point is to set four tires to four different pressures and Front Left > Front Right > Rear Right > Rear Left. Not sure.
