The content does not match the title. One of the definitions of clickbaiting. Outlawing Rat Rods is not mentioned once. The reason I clicked on the video was to learn about Rat Rods being banned.
The creativity, imagination, and engineering seen in some of these rat rods are mind boggling! And some are left in rat rod fashion so as to not wipe out history. One rat rod was an old 1930's cab that hadn't been painted because you could still faintly see the Anheuser Busch emblem on the door from it's first "job". These machines are pure art as well as automotive.
Every ratrod is an individual work of art and they directly reflect the person that built it. I never pass up the opportunity to check out the details on them
Custom creativity is what makes this hobby enjoyable. When we pulled the v6 and tranny out of my friends 84 mustang in highschool, we almost put that drivetrain on his old riding lawnmower. Unfortunately, time and other projects kept that from happening. But if i could go 23 years back and do it, i would.
Would love to see something like that myself the closest i got was a guy who put an old chev 306 small block into a custom motorcycle he built himself thing was as long as a truck and had two rear tires similar to a dually setup no idea how he could ride it
@@VitoVecciastraight lines and gentile curves are smooth and easy on a trike. It’s wet roads, sharp turns and banked roads that make things get scary real quick. Every trike I’ve ridden had a BAD tendency to want to just plow the front wheel straight ahead when you try to turn on wet asphalt. Also I don’t think I’ve ever used the front brake on a trike, not that it’s a major problem they usually have plenty of brake in the rear….usually they seem like some variant of VW beetle brakes on the factory built ones or whatever rear end was used on home-made jobs. Even seen 11” drums on a 10 bolt Chevy rear end on one home made v8 trike….more than enough for a 1300lb bike.
And the reality is, there are a LOT of POS rat-rods out there, that should not be legally on the road. Yet, for some reason, the police let them slide.

Yea, its yours, do what makes you happy, just don't expect everyone to like it. Then again, it's all subjective, and good 'art' is often ahead of popular taste. It would go great in a rob zombie music video, other than that idk. It's not practical, its not fast, it's not a cruiser, doesn't ride well, it intentionally doesn't look good, its not for me. Still don't think they should be illegal unless it's a danger to others.

My trailer queen is race car. The insurance would be ridiculous. I even have to fly in an appraiser from Texas. I appreciate the love put into some rat-rods. Most never get finished, and end up a Frankenstein hot rod. The resources spent are better on coke and bitches.
I like the bit of everything going on there, lol. Ford body, 331-392 Hemi and the GM Delco alternator.. As long as it's built right and goes safely down the street. This looks pretty cool! Old MoPars are more my style tho, lol. I've seen some pretty sketchy and shoddy things done in my 25y of wrenching and car shows that I wouldn't want to share the road with.. those kinda things make everyone look bad and draw the wrong attention if/when something unfortunate happens... I don't mind rat rods. They are definitely an art form, but I believe there should be some kind of inspection process to make sure they are reasonably safe to drive.

There is a pretty big difference between rust, and patina. Then again, the wide berth to what's a rat-rod, and what is a pile of junk on 4 wheels (or 6 in this case) is just as expansive as the whole when does patina become rusted junk.

Yes, I know that those lowered ones have a suspension that can go up and down. I just dislike any and all types of vehicles that are lowered. But I don't own those vehicles. So it really doesn't matter what I like. Now does it?🤣
I like some lowered vehicles. Depends what it's for. If I'm building something for off-road or work, it's gonna ride higher. However for a track car or truck I'll have it lower so the center of gravity is lower.

I have been told numerous times, that I am too old fashioned about most things.😁 Another personal pet peeve, is the current trend to put the 1947-1955 Chevrolet Advance Design pickups on S10 chassis. To me, it just doesn't look right. But I AM very obsessed with that era of Chevy pickup. I had a 1954 from 1983-2003. I did my own frame-off rebuild of it during the 1980s. When I got the truck, the frame was broken, as were some suspension parts. So...to "upgrade" things, yet keep a more stock ride height, I wound up putting the '54 body on a 1976 C10 chassis (that I had to slightly modify). I get a good chuckle every time the current generation insists that there is "no way" that I used a '76 chassis.😁😁 Sorry for rambling about unimportant stuff. I'm a senior citizen, so rambling is just something that I seem to do more and more, as I age.😂

I think they should be held in the same regard as other works of art, like low riders, restomods, and the like. They're awesome, and they're a great way to blend artistry and love for vehicles
I'm for anything that gets old steel back on the road. And sometimes we have to sacrifice 2 or 3 in the process, but it's better than all 4 vehicles rotting away in a forest somewhere

There's someone where I live that built one of these. He takes it out and drives it all the time. You'll commonly find him at the liquor store. Then there's another guy who has a rat rod inspired trike. I must say, it is an absolute badass for a daily driver

I dig it. It’s anti authoritarian anti-establishment, anti car companies. It’s basically the same as us musicians building our own studios in our bedrooms. Saying “we don’t need you, we can do it ourselves and make it even cooler”. Plus with the over saturation of the same 807hp cars that literally everyone has, it’s nice to see some real creativity come alive instead of leaving the yellow plastic air dam protector on and calling it original.
