I got a 4. Made in 1940. Love it.
I have a model B, what a wonderful gun it is!
Forever I've read about them but have my Rugers so didn't look into them alot. Just had someone ask me to clean and test one so they could get it to their grandson. Online looking for cleaning tips and ammo suggestions. You mention only shooting standard velocity ammo and I hadn't seen that anywhere else, thanks for that tip. What I'm hearing about the breakdown is that it's not super easy..
There are two models, mine is an older one and its the harder of the two to break down for cleaning
Those frames are strong very heavy . Its the springs that might break.
Love the old High Standard 22lr pistols. Thanks Nibs. That was fun.
My first handgun was a Sentinel revolver. Over the decades I’ve tried to obtain every model High Standard made. I love them.
I've fired High velocity rounds through my model B for the entire time I've owned it which is about 32 years. I've never had a problem with it and I've put probably 5000-6000 rounds through it maybe even more
I have same gun ive had for 30 years
I sure do like the longer barrels on the older rimfire pistols
A lot of good things from the past aren't made anymore or not made as well. That's why we all have a Wish List. High Standards are at the top of a lot. 👍
Nice shooting, shoot in a league indoors using my HS Citation , shoots good for an older gun. I just picked up a Ruger Mark IV , nice gun..getting used to it
I use my supermatic citation for the winter bullseye league too!
I don’t do as well shoot one handed, need more practice 😎
I’ve been trying to find mags for my model b all the ones I’ve ordered have been to long and the base on mine is flat and the ones I’ve ordered for model b have been angled more
Slim, accurate, beautiful...mine hasn't been shot in ~30 years but I think I can fix that :-) Browning or Colt, should bring these back.
That's a cool old pistol I like that yeah that cold weather when the wind's blowing makes it miserable to shoot I've had them what I thought was a light strikes too and I'm taking them home and tore them apart and find out there's no primer mix in it
I have a 1934 colt woodsman I shoot federal auto match or cci mini mag hollow points through it never had a problem
Nice review! The wind wasn't that bothersome.
I shoot CCI Stinger about 36 rounds did ok i guess
Very nice pistol!
Where exactly would the frame crack? I find that hard to believe since the gun is all steel.
Its not a myth, well known issue with the high standards as well as other brands.
@@WalnutandSteel I'd like to read about it. Do you have a good link? But I'd still like to know where it would crack on the frame?
If you google high standard frame crack there is plenty of reading to show this
How can you tell the year it was built. I know where the serial number is on my Model B 6".. but not sure how to read it
Now Your Talking Nibs I’ve Got The Same Pistol Short Barrel Version It’s a Woodsman Clone High Standard Used John Brownings Original Designs 😀😊😀
Thanks for the info about the standard vs. high velocity ammo. I have a Model D which I think is from the 50's or 40's. Though I'm not sure. Do you think the same is true for mine?
As far as I know all high Standard pistols were spring for standard velocity. If it will cycle standard velocity then I wouldn’t use higher speed ammo in it.
