On the box of pictures.... Most likely they were left behind after someone died with no relatives or someone donated after finding them in an abandoned storage unit or after they didn't sell at an estate sale.
After my mom died, she had lots of old photos. Many were of people I had never met & had no idea who they were. The process of going through her property was overwhelming and I couldn't keep everything, so after offering to other family members some items went in the trash and other items were donated.
Many people would never think that loose old photos would be collectable or valuable.
It's nice that you're thoughtful enough to purchase them with the idea of returning them to the family.
It's nice, but I would never try to find the original owners. the original owners donated them, so obviously don't want them.

So glad that you took Mose for a ride! The dogs remember like kids, and if the promise is not followed up on, after a while, they stop believing you about anything and get depressed. Many peole just don't understand how intelligent and emotional our pets are. Being attentive to our pet' emyions is so important!

I went thrifting with my aunt one day and she found this sweet little photo from the 30s in a cute frame that said "Remember Me" on it. She picked it up and has had it on her mantel for 30 years. She named the lady Helen and gave her a whole back story. She made me promise to keep it after she dies!

I live in Portland, OR & we’re just getting on the other side of a pretty bad ice storm. There was a car that got hit by a falling electrical line this morning & 3 people were killed & a 2 year old child survived. My heart is sick for this family. I don’t know who they are, but please keep them in your prayers. There are also a lot of people still without electricity after trees hit their house. It’s been a rough storm. I am feeling incredibly grateful to have only lost electricity for 24 hours. 🙏🙏 Anyway, great video as always. It’s obvious what wonderful people you are by the way you’re treated by others in your community, including your neighbors.

2 things: growing up in the country I've always been told never burn pine in your indoor fireplace because the burnt sap collects in your chimney over time. And the second thing is buy a shop vac for the water problem in the future.
Josh, that was a common silverplate and glass drink coaster. Sometimes they were sterling silver, but it would be marked. Otherwise, it is very common and not worth anything.

@ 3:34 I sold several hundred old photos from the 20s-70s after cleaning out my in-laws' house. I grouped them by categories (photos with pets/animals, cars, trains, children, recognizable buildings, etc.). They did surprisingly well.
I made a short video yesterday on how to make shoes look like new. Doesn't matter how dirty they are as long as the soles look good and not too worn.
I did 2 VANS after the video I made that were supposed to be white soles but were extremely dirty brown. But since they weren't worn out on the bottom, i used my steamer and they came out VERY white again.
One thing that worked amazingly, was coating the soles with that dollar store product called L.A's AWESOME, before I used the steamer and just watch the shoes go from dirty, stained brown to bright white. Check out the video and you can grab more shoes to flip now that you may have passed on before. I'll do a follow up video soon to show better results.

Neighbors are great aren’t they? We’re in our mid-60s and our young neighbor is so awesome. He will come over and shovel when he gets off work. He does our driveway sometimes he’s done it twice if we’ve got so much snow coming down like right now lol. But my husband gets home and goes and shovels his driveway too so we reciprocate if that’s the word.

My son was in Orlando for school and there are huge Goodwills everywhere. If you want furniture you better sit on it and they come to you. Semi trucks lined up behind building waiting to unload. It was wild. Have fun!

Glad to hear the positive update about your kidney stone. My Dad had at least 9 kidney stones in your life. I know they can be very painful. I started drinking cranberry juice when I was in elementary school. I drink it almost daily. I have never (knock on wood) had a kidney stone. Thanks for another great video!
All your videos have that personal,fun touch. Crazy. I understand how famy photos and keepsakes end up there. There a times when we lose multiple family and don't have many left,like in my family. I lost both parents and most siblings with 3 years. Now no sibling. It happens way too much. I have gone through volumes and couldn't keep it all. When I see that, it breaks my heart, because I personally know. Blessings to you.

Oh for your sake Josh I hope you passed it! I suffered through kidney stones in August and September. I was too big to pass . After laser and that didn’t work. So had to do scope and finally crushed it up. They hurt so bad! Feel better ..
Our basement got flooded last week too. Thankfully we don't keep anything in our basement because it is damp or flooded frequently. It is unfinished - all the walls are those gray cinder cement blocks - and it is stinky, so we affectionately call it our "dungeon." It was funny because I told a lady at our church "Our dungeon flooded" and she didn't even ask what in the world I was talking about. Made me wonder if she has her own dungeon. :)
Trees are so easy to cut down with the amount of room you have there.

Josh and Hailey, your channel. I'm glad that you're not in pain anymore, Josh. My kidney stone issue is hereditary on my dad's side his of the family. My grandfather, dad and uncle have all issues with multiple bouts. About 11 yrs ago I started having kidney issues, to the point they even went through my back to try to get them out. I was having lithotripsy at least once a year. Usually when it stops hurting one of two things have happened you've either passed it or it's stuck. If it's stuck then you'll end up with a nasty infection. I know that for because I've had both issues. Love you guys. Give Mose an extra belly rub, he deserves it.🐕🦮

My friend has had kidney stones in the past. Recently had an egg sz 'mass' removed from his bladder caused by energy drinks and caffeine. Be careful with that stuff! Love your videos!
Agree with this! I have a friend who had kidney stones 2x - he drank Code Red Mountain Dew. Please be careful with energy drinks. Just want you both to be healthy because I love your videos, but more importantly love you both :)

old photos are always a great find for me as I use them on projects I make. Not always a bad thing to find as usually someone died and the rest of the family has copies of the same photos, so the just donate the rest. I did sell some on eBay and somebody recognized the people in the photos so they bought them to return them to the family. (but like I said the family probably didn't want them though. But I never find old photos any more--darn I sure wish I did/

Ah that was so nice to take Mose for a drive. The ashtray was a coaster i think, you may need to raise your stock of the ground on wooden pallets maybe (that's what we call them in the UK)
I have had kidney stones. My kidney specialist said coffee is one of the worst things to give you stones. Every couple of days eat a couple of slices of fresh lemons raw. The acid helps break them up.

Some of the bell door knockers have seemed to sell for fair prices, maybe even a parts listing may get sold, eventually. Much more than bin prices I’m guessing. Even if only scrap
One solution for the water issue is a kiddie pool, believe it or not. Basically you dig a big pit and set the kiddie pool in it (you can also use plastic sheeting and edging plastic but that's just plain harder). Cut a hole in the bottom of the pool for the drain and fill it with rock. That can catch more of the water at one time and hold more water while it works its way through the drain. Just make sure the drainage isn't going to bring a bunch of dirt into the rock bed because that will cause a mess too. Good luck!
