    In my career I’ve worked in the 206, MD900, 222, Super 205, 117, 135, A-Star, 119 and 407. The 135 is my favorite by far.

    Close... I'm biased... EC-145. ;). STARFlight... Not sure if they are still flying them but they are incredible... Helped save my life... Personally, I love the fenestron on the 135... Only sounded better by the Coast Guard Dolphins.. I wouldn't say no to owning any on of them.. Wait, I'd be happy to just put my hands on the cyclic and.. that up and down thingy... lol

    My step niece is a flight medic who's childhood was about as rough as mine. She chose to work her way up. I chose to smoke my way up. Going on 15 years clean and get to see her and my dad for Thanksgiving without 50 other relatives fighting for attention. Can't wait to catch up after only two decades.

    I've done dunk train8ng in the military and as a civilian. It's not the most fun the first couple times, but it's important to suck it up and do it as many times as you can and do it in the gear you wear! I've seen a lot of people do it in shorts and t-shirts or just a flight suit with none of their regular gear. It's completely different weighted diw with stuff. But you need to do it to build muscle memory so it's automatic. Sit in your aircraft in the dark, blindfolded and know where everything is. Keep everything in it's place. No greater job than looking down on the earth from 1500-2000ft!

    Dunk training or HUET as it's called (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) is pretty worth it, most employers require it in my country as a lot of untrained people have died in the last few decades. It's not so much the training part but the tips and tricks the instructors tell you which are important. the actual practical bit is super intimidating though but you learn a lot and it's worth the day and the couple hundred dollars to do it though.

    Been watching your channel for awhile now brother. You do such a great job. I'm R22 rated from long ago and don't fly anymore but I am a certified aviation nut. Since childhood.
    Aside from the safety and educational aspects of your work I especially love your passion for flight and these bella macchina's.
    Yes, the EC135/145s are perfect. I live in Santa Barbara and a Calstar EC135 is a frequent sight flying into Cottage hospital doing their great work.
    Just wanted to give you a shout out and tell you that you are pretty rad in my book DoctorMedic. 😀👍✌️

    Being a former firefighter in Suffolk County NY (Long Island) not to far from Skyhealth's hanger this was a very interesting video. I have never had the opportunity to personalize work with the Skyhealth team but such a great HEMS program. @@TheDoctorMedic you should try to get in touch with the Suffolk County NY Police Department’s Aviation unit. They do Emergency Medevac Transports within Suffolk County with thier Police Aviation Fleet.

    Its a beautiful aircraft but if I had the choice I would go with the H145. I have worked in most of them (222, 230, 365, Astar, 206, Fat Star, BK117, 135, 145) and purchased the 135/145 for my old company.

    No, no. 145 is the way! Dunker training is a cross between 6Flags and water boarding. But, invaluable training.

    The b429 is the only comparable light twin, they both have there pro's and con's, however when it comes to performance the b429 is faster, smoother, bit better endurance and significantly more powerfull due to the gearbox and conventional tail rotor.So better hot&high performance for summer and mountain flying, for example, Colorado.The cabin in the b429 is 30% larger @130 cu ft, which is profoundly better for ems.They both have around the same dispatch reliability.Where the 135 shines is it's a very precise machine, better handling compared to the b429 and the helionix system is the best avionics kit you can get on a heli.I think most operators prefer the 135 because it's cost a bit less to operate.

    Thinking of the headphones on the patient, how do EMS handle a hard of hearing or legally deaf or ASL patient?

    • @TheDrMedic
      @TheDrMedic  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Hopefully,,,,,,,though a family member. But, if one is not available we often just write stuff down. There are also video streaming services that offer ASL Interpreters (and foreign language as well).

    I have never enjoyed coming under the rotors with the flight crew. I can only imagine that anxiety of the pilot as untrained personnel are approaching the aircraft. I hear the H130s are going to be phased in as Bell focuses on military contracts and a parts shortage for the 407s. Still will have to walk in to help load with the med crew on the H130s.

    Looks like a NASA design. And if I can ever get a list of medevac insurers (I will eventually) that's the quality of the bird I want carrying me. Everything about it tells me no slackers are tolerated there.

    Nope. BO-105LS-A3 with the superlifter kit and C30 engines for 2 pt max scene flights at altitude, Bell 430 for IFT. From clinical perspective anyway.

    I hate the EC-135 because it looks like an egg and I hate the Finnistrong tail rotors the EC-145 and BK-117 are much better aircrafts in my opinion

  • @mac001texas
    @mac001texas Před 6 měsíci

    I think ec130's are better because you have much more patient access, albeit by only 1 provider, but the other person is managing meds and w.e else so it doesn't really matter anyways, not like 2 ppl can intubate at the same time. Also, the 130 doesnt herniate your discs trying to unload obese patients while hunched below the tail. Crew in the 130 also has full view of patient and outside of the helicopter for situational awareness instead of only being able to see out the sides.
