We start with a thrifted dollhouse that we found at Goodwill®, and take you step-by-step how to transform it into a spooky miniature Victorian mansion complete with glowing jack-o-lanterns, demon kitty cats, and an animated ghost that wanders the top balcony.

Thanks for watching! You're all awesome. Have a great Halloween!
First
Wow!
You guys are AMAZING!
those pregnancy potty breaks got me up just in time to watch this! great job on the video and the house!
Have you ever done an Halloween tree?
That turned out cool, however I do have a couple of suggestions, little strips of cheese cloth for straggly beat up old curtains and maybe some bats that you can find at the dollar tree, they're bags of bat rings and skull rings, just cut off the ring part. You can attach them with thin wire so that they're flying around or just glue them to the surface.
I was thinking of other little touches too! Like maybe some tiny cobwebs or dried up ivy on the sides
and maybe a shadow in the upper window...
Ghosts coming out of the windows, too.
That was done by another youtuber...not sure if before or after this video. Im sure they do not want to copy others' ideas and do their own ideas to keep things unique and individual.
They might
I get to play with real Victorian homes owned by clients, and I have to say that you did a pretty good job with this! BTW the "creepy fence" on the rooftop is called "cresting." If the rooftop is accessible, it is a "widow's walk," often seen in ocean-front properties where the wives of sailors and sea captains would watch for their husbands' ships to return. But cresting was also placed atop non-accessible rooflines just as a decorative feature. The video inside that upper window is BRILLIANT!
I also love the trees. After spending all day restoring old homes, now I need to go find a dollhouse to defile. Thank you for the inspiration.
Pretty much every architectural feature on homes has a specific name. I can see about 5 features on this model with names most people would never use
That fence on the rooftop is called a widows walk. Old homes on the east coast have them because when husbands would go out to sea and didnt return. their wives would go up top the roof and look out for ships. Hence the widows walk. They are cool and Im glad you made one. Awesome work !!!
A widow's walk, also known as a widow's watch or roofwalk, is a railed rooftop platform often having an inner cupola/turret frequently found on 19th-century North American coastal houses. Even creepier right? This was great! Thank you for sharing so early so I had the pleasure of watching while getting ready for work
Yes!!! Love it.
Fun fact!
Not sure if this is just an old wives tale, but the reason it's call the "widow's walk" is because wives would go on that walk to watch for their husbands' ships to come in to port in the 1800's.
Some would continue to do this after they received news that the husband had died at sea, haunting the walk like living ghosts in their grief (or habit honestly. Could be either, the 1800's weren't known for good emotional health.)
@@starshipquail8398 How agonizing to have to wait for months and years
@@starshipquail8398 fun fact, the American tradition of trick or treating was started because of the feeling and dread 40 to 100 year old homes gave folks in the 1800s. There used to be a haunted square grigorian style choir that sang for the dead on October 25th. I have two stories from two areas, the oldest from 1850-60-70 with my grandmother in Salem, Vermont, and Buffalo, and my grandmother's sister who lived in Savannah. She remember the copious attempts that people tried, it was tradition during autumn to try to paint the pink house anything from topaz orange, church willow green, or for the desperate times, simply pure black. All times proved futile however, as it always bled through back to pink within a week. She said her children and most others would run past the house whenever they were near the square.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar That's so cool! I never knew that.
..... Now I have an urge to go paint something neon pink.
I actually had this exact doll house when I was little until I was 10, it's weird being 16 now and seeing all those memories get painted.
I still have the one my kids plated with. I'd never ruin it like this. They may want their kids to play with it. Not the exact same one but Toy quality drops over time. I still wish I had some of my childhood stuff, my mom sold my bike, worth lots of money now , even old metal lunchboxes. The new plastic boxes are junk
@@recoveringsoul755 I wouldn't say they ruined it. honestly I could care less about how much it's worth, the memories are good enough for me. I just wish I still had it so I could do something like this to it.
@@shiningstar4561 well if you chose to do this that would be one thing. My older sister took liberties with my toys when she graduated college, and with no job, went to live with our parents in the basement where we used to have our playroom. I was born the year Barbie came out so I'm talking vintage dolls, got their hair cut, eyelashes plucked out, face paint removed. Her own dolls sure, but she had no right to destroy any of mine. My mother sold my Schwinn banana seat bicycle which is worth a lot of money. Managed to get my old metal Munsters lunchbox complete with thermos still has intact unbroken glass. Worth over $1000 20 years ago.
Since toy quality declines and things are made more and more cheaply, flimsy and breakable, I think saving the higher quality stuff us important. I didn't have an over abundance of toys so I appreciated the ones I did have. I made a lot if things, like my own paper dolls and clothes, and a house for them that was also flat, opened like a book. We used to use our imagination
Same I’m 17 and I remember having it when I was young
I’m 24 and kept it for my younger sister and niece , the thumbnail made me double take
Every detail is amazing👻💀
Thanks! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼😄
I'm surprised you guys haven't done a Halloween colab ... :D
@@JeffYanthaWHAT? YOU PUNK! Halloween colab? What is that thing? It could be like a monkey Halloween. 👿👿👿
@@DoNotAvailableOGsHere well I was thinking more along the lines of a pentegram with blood red epoxy lit by LEDs, but monkeys could work too.
@@JeffYantha oh OK that's really cool. So ..🎃🎃🎃🎃awesome comment you have, punk!
I got lucky and found that exact dollhouse along with a castle and a forest with a stone ape and waterfall at the goodwill. My snakes absolutely love them! Got to make sure it's safe for them before I try and paint them myself. Thanks for the great ideas!
i still own this dollhouse from when i was younger and even have two because someone gave us theirs
My dream project as a crafter is to make an old haunted victorian dollhouse. I enjoy making miniatures, I wanna furnish the inside and outside by hand. I just unfortunately live in an apartment and don't have the space to start a project that big to work on throughout the year or keep it afterward. So I must vicariously live through this. ITS AWESOME!
You can do it! Go for it.
Go go go it do it now! 🎃🎃🎃Gosh, you punk.
Ave you seen dollhouse rooms in deeper picture frames? You could add as you go and make a collection that builds a whole house!
Only takes wall space!
You could get a fixer upper house, or do smaller scale like 1:24 scale. Hobby Lobby has inexpensive kits and you could modify to make it haunted, or they might sell one like that already
So, my hubby stopped at our local Goodwill and he brought home this exact house for $10!! So super excited!! Great find and awesome inspiration!!
Just found mine at GW for $5.99! Couldn't get it in my cart fast enough! I'm sure I looked like a lunatic in the toy aisle.
It turned out amazing! I love the spooky effect video as the final touch. I think my favourite part has to be those jack-o-lanterns. Such a neat idea, and incredibly effective.
Thank you!!
That lil girl has got perfectly cool parents.. ♥️
Hahah she’s pretty cool herself 😄
@@WickedMakers 😍😍then lots and lots of love to our lil champ.. ♥️
That looks amazing! You could have written "beware," "condemned" or "keep out" on the boards to add to the creep factor. Great job!
I actually think it looks creepier without those signs because it looks more realistic.
I love this so much!!! I feel like you guys are like me, where every time you see a thing in a store (especially a thrift store), your minds immediately go to alternate uses for it. I rarely use things as they were intended! It’s always “bet I could stick a plant in that” or “that would cast crazy shadows on Halloween!”
the ghost on the window (tablet ) is truly awesome and very much alive in the house display...my fave togather with the litted pumpkin
I have no use for a haunted doll house. But! Now I have an uncontrollable urge to now attempt this!
Amazing job! Absolutely stunning!
Make a regular one, furnish it
I have this exact doll house in my daughters closet, been in there for 7 years 😆. I think I want to do this and set it in front of my fire place. 😁 hummmm. Off to the dollar tree 😆
That was the best redo of one of these dollhouses I have seen. I am constantly seeing these dollhouses on the side of the road. I think I might collect them to make a village. Super cute idea for my favorite holiday.
I wonder if the children who played with them wanted to throw them out? Toy quality goes down with time, so the older houses will be better than the new ones. And they were expensive when new!! Still have my kids, saving it fir grandkids
I had that playhouse when I was younger. It’s crazy to see how you changed it. Talent.
What's is doll house called sorry .lol
I had this exact dollhouse when I was younger! I actually still have it and I'm thinking of repainting it just like this
I used to have that old doll house. Just seeing that brought back so much memories, I feel old now. Amazing transformation by the way!
Hope you still have your old house. I don't know why so many people get rid of their happy childhood memories
@@recoveringsoul755 thankfully I still do! Somehow that house never broke despite everything it's gone through including a very clumsy me
which dollshouse is it? brand?
Some tinted/smokey see-thru plastic made into broken windows and glass shards to add to the windows to break up the purple for more effect would finish this off nicely.
Y’all are dedicated and have an endless supply of spooky shirts, I love it!
I noticed this, too, and I love them! My favorite in this video is the skulls riding the waves.
I LOVE this idea for a cool table top haunted display! All of your videos are great! So glad I stumbled upon them.
Thank you! 😄
Day off, cup of coffee, Wicked Makers project video with cool music = day made.
This was an awesome project. Turned out phenomenally. You 2 are so talented. 🤘🏼
Same dollhouse I bought last year! Can't wait to get mine out. Love how yours looks! The ipad in the window is such a great touch!
Love the house! If you had some glow in the dark paint to add to the cat eyes that would’ve been spooky, either way it looks amazing 😊👍🏻
Gorgeous! I can really admire the attention to detail and the ipad is a touch of brilliance. just goes to show, when youre doing something you love you can create wonderful things!
I REALLY enjoyed watching this! It turned out so good! I love the details and the purple lights. Just amazing! You guys are a great team and inspire me. I need to up my Halloween game
This is so awesome, definitely makes me want to find a doll house to do this with.
You and me both
I actually owned one of those dollhouses as a kid. Seeing one again after so many years really took me back. Who would’ve thought it’d be transformed into a haunted house!
A recommendation is weathering the widows walking rails at the top of the house since they would have aged with the house. Love the video you guys made my day!
I wish dollhouses looked like that when I was a kid. I would have actually played with them! The iPad was a great touch. This is awesome!
Oh my gosh. I had this dollhouse as a kid and I freaking love what y'all did to it.
You could add the trees to some foam poster board with layers of expanding foam, with washers on the foam poster board. This is how I make my tree bases for RPG terrain.
I watched this with my teenaged daughter last night. She and her sister had this exact house when they were young so it was very nostalgic and inspirational. You did an amazing job on it and the tips were really helpful!
What happened to it? Teenage is still young . My kids are grown and I never three theirs away.
@@recoveringsoul755 I sold it to someone on Craigslist. My girls were not playing with it anymore and we just did not have room to store it. It was nice knowing someone else could enjoy it.
Of all the paid promotions CZcams creatives can agree to, this is definitely one of the coolest. Goodwill shopping is fun and, for haunt-makers like us, we always end up with more authentic pieces for our setup. Very cool video. Now I'm on the lookout for a dollhouse!
Really well done! Only change I would have made is add some verdigris to the copper door and rail.
So cool! Smart move swapping out the orange lights, I think green lights would've been amazing as well!
Incredible! My daughters both had that doll house… wish we still had them. Might need to go hunt one down now!
What an inspiration! We actually have this dollhouse and it’s getting very little play as my girls are older. Guess I know what to do with it now.
Excellent work! This is the same doll house I used for creating my Avengers Mansion! I learned a lot doing that project.
You found my childhood doll house and Halloweened it up 🥹🥹🥹😧😲coolest thing ever !
No joke, I used to have that dollhouse when I was little. Just looking at it is nostalgic.
This is so cool! I love how you break it down and make it so simple to follow and practical!
I bought a doll house almost exactly like yours. I can't wait to get started! Thank you for the ideas 💡
As a kid, I had that same dollhouse. I can't tell you how much I love to see a hunted house version of it!
I can’t be the only one who’s getting Kevin the cube feelings from those windows LOL
Y’all have ascended. Not just the project. Editing in this one was really great too!
It's amazing. Tell your kids that this was their mom's doll house when she was their age. :D
Painting the base colours looked incredibly therapeutic 😌
This gave me so much nostalgia I used to play with that same dollhouse all the time as a kid!
LOVE THIS!! I kept thinking there should be a widow's walk and then you put one in! I love everything about it. For the wood over the windows, you could always score the wood pieces first before painting, with a box cutter, exacto knife or even a sharp ball point pen. That will give it the wood grain look. Anyway, love your videos!
Great idea and project! Keep up all the great videos and projects on your channel. Happy to see the growth on it!
Run a steel scrub brush lights over the popsicle sticks to create the grain, & you could also take an craft knife to create knot holes.
WOW, I was loosing it, with the jack-o'-lanterns and then the video in the window...I couldn't contain myself. Amazing! Amazing! My little inner trick or treating child is living, inside. 🎃
🤘🏼😄 glad you liked it!
That's so awesome!! You two are so creative and Thank you for showing this, I've never seen this before. And btw I'm loving those shirts
My wife has that exact doll house that our kids play with still. I wonder if she'd be mad if I did this exact same thing.
Lovely! 😄👍
The miniature pumpkins were my favorite 🎃
This is amazing!! You guys did a fantastic job!! Being a dollhouse collector though, I would love to see the inside done with furniture and accessories! I am now going to subscribe to your channel. Thanks for sharing! Really loved the video!!
Best haunted house I've seen so far here on YT. Stellar job, you really stepped it up without really breaking the bank---another thing I love about your build
After your cat was in the video, all I could think about was how cute that cat was. Also, you guys are legends, I wish I had the time and patience to do this.
Great job.. Casper Ann's his uncle's would be proud to call that home.
Looks so neat! I think I would leave it more of a dark tone, the lighter purple was an interesting choice. But still super cute!
Incredible work! And I must say, you both have an impressive amount of a Halloween tshirts! Love it!
This is freaking awesome!
Love this idea and absolutely going to try this; hobby lobby in town here has lots of bare bones doll houses if you want something plain to work on.
Wow awesomely creepy, love your work. Thank you for sharing 💀🎃☠️👻🎃🧟♀️🧙♀️
Every detail is amazing, but the ipad at the end really got me. Freaking awesome!
This is awesome!! My teens & I have got to do this during October as Halloween decoration.
I love projects like this! OwO It's unfortunate my Goodwill stores never have stuff like this, but I'll continue to be on a look-out for a dollhouse since making my own haunted doll mansion has been a personal goal of mine for a long time. I did, however, repaint and convert my 80s vintage Barbie limousine into a HEARSE last Halloween though. Looks pretty rad. OwO
From the Barbie house hehehe. This is amazing, your techniques trully evolved from this video up to the barbie house
This turned out amazing! I have this exact doll house that I found cheap on FB marketplace for the same purpose, I love seeing what other people do with it :)
LOVE 🖤 . This is such a clever idea for home decoration for the 👻 🎃season. Also there are limitless possibilities in creating a haunted dollhouse.
The cat was a great touch....
The ghosts haunting this don't seem too bad, they put out jack o lanterns for Halloween. Looks like they are festive ghosts. XD
It was cute before but now it looks so luxurious
U guys literally made a master piece keep up the good work u guys it’s keeping me entertained: D lol
Austin Power's cat is grotesque
Wow, this brought back memories! I had this exact dollhouse when I was a kid, this was so cool to see
Wow, SO fun and it turned out SO great! Love those black cats!
I am so in love with this! I'm asking Santa for a dollhouse for Christmas. And yes, I'm a 50 something year old shaved head bearded biker looking guy. You wanna make something of it?!!!
I guess I'm going to be making a haunted doll house now. This is so amazing! I love it!🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
You two are AMAZING!! I have been looking for an old doll house to do something like this but I can’t do as well as you. This is truly awesome. And the use of an iPad was such a great idea!! Thank you and keep inspiring us followers.
Omg! This was my exact doll house that I played with when I was little. What a coincidence!
I saw this video randomly, looked at the thumbnail and realized I have that same doll house from when I was a toddler! It's sitting in my room
That turned out amazing! You two are incredible, and the attention to detail is on point! LOVE IT!
This was AMAZING If it was up to me it would be constant Halloween decor in my house lol I would love to have something like this… thanks for the inspiration
This video is just entertaining to watch. You both did a fantastic job transforming this house into something creepy and haunting. 👏🏻👏🏻
Yoooo I used to have that dollhouse when I was a kid. Seeing it transformed like that is so cool!
LOVE this!!! Can't tell you how many dollhouses I have walked past at Goodwill not even thinking about different ways to re-use them . This gives me an idea to do an maybe an Easter House? You guys up for the challenge?
i love how you guys celebrate my birthday!!! I feel loved!
I may give this a try and see what I can come up with. Very inspirational!
honestly the house looking like it was on fire kinda fits
What better way to share my love for Halloween 🎃 with my grand daughter!! Been looking for a crafty project to do with her, so THANK YOU!!
I smile the whole time i watch your videos.. love the channel.
This is incredible! And good choice with the purple lights it looks great!! There were monster high dolls that would totally go with this look too! 🖤🖤🖤
Looks great. Spider webs would look neat in it
I grew up with playing with the same doll house. It's cool that pepole make this stuff get new life
A little graveyard would have been really cool , you no by the trees
Yes!!!!
This was amazing! Really getting me in the mood for this upcoming spooky season...
I had this exact dollhouse growing up
This is amazing!! I'm a HUGE fan of Halloween and you guys are the right people to look to for spooky and Halloween thing! 🍁🎃
