  • Thank you for coming!
    In this video, we will use a tree with woodturning to create a goblet from a cherry branch.
    Since it was quite fashionable, I put it on a shelf and decorate it as an object.
    In the next video, we will create a vase from a log with rough edges.
    If you like, please subscribe / comment!
    I will post my work and work scenery on Instagram, so please follow me if you like!

    この動画では、木工旋盤を使って桜の木の枝からゴブレット=聖爵(せいしゃく)を作ります。
    使うのか?ですが、よく海外の方が作られているので作ってみました。
    なかなかお洒落に出来たと思うので、オブジェとして棚に飾っておこうと思います。

    • @YamabikoWoodArt
      @YamabikoWoodArt  Před 4 lety +8

      Thanks for your comment! Depending on the type of tree, cracking hardly occurs even in green wood. If the wood is fragile, apply the paint repeatedly to harden the wood. Be careful with thick places! If it breaks, I'm using a mixture of glue and wood powder instead of epoxy.

      There is a product called “Kigatame Ace” in Japan.
      However, if it breaks even if it is applied, wood chips are packed in the cracked place and hardened with instant adhesive to make an accent.
      The only way to make it harder to break is to remove the core or thin the wood.

    Hello Yamabiko. I have just watched your fine Video again and noticed that you finished the inside of the wee bowl first and then shaped the outside to an ultra thin wall thickness. Have you found that process more successful than the alternative? Ray

    • @YamabikoWoodArt
      @YamabikoWoodArt  Před 4 lety

      Hello Ray Smith! Thanks for your comment!
      I think that turning from the inside can be processed easily and beautifully.
      Because there is little freedom of tools inside and the field of view is narrow.
      To finish thinner than a piece of paper, process the inside and make it gradually thinner from the outside.
      However, when giving priority to design, it may be better to process the outside first.
      Both are free, so find a way that works for you.✨

    • @YamabikoWoodArt
      @YamabikoWoodArt  Před 4 lety +1

      Whether or not it has wavy edges is unpredictable depending on the tree type and conditions. In my experience, swelling is more likely to occur with a 0.5mm thickness / flat shape. It is also important to choose trees that move a lot by drying! This is a cherry branch!

      there are 2 ways to achieve a wavy naural edge. 1st, you can have a tree with a wavy natural edge. 2nd, you can have a species that distorts a lot when it dries like these did, after turning very thin, and creates a wave in the drying process.
