Survivalist it depends by your own taste.. I like the cupra, but personally I can't choose it, simply because is not so refined and made for the track like the RS.. Now i am waiting to see the new megane 4 RS 2016, I am sure will be really the definitive fwd, I hope it, cause now i have a megane coupe GT, and i would like to change it for the next RS

+wikki11 It's not half price - that Trophy RS is £36,000 in the UK and it hardly raped it - it's lighter and runs on Cup semi slick tyres so has more of an advantage - if I had to pick one of these two, it would be the Audi - but if I had a choice, I'd have a Golf R over the Maegane - and that Megane Trophy R was recently beaten by the Leon Cupra 280 sub 8.
x Hi mate. Well I dont know the UK prices, Iam sorry. Iam from Germany and the RS coasts around 28.000€ and the S3 around 42.000€. The Cupra 290 ST around 30.000€ (without Performance Package). So its nearly the half...
You can say whatever you want, but Renault knows how to make affordable sporty cars. The Clio RS and the Megane RS are very good cars in their classes on the track. I mean the Megane RS is around 6-7 Years old and still beat a brand new Audi S3 on the track, thats awesome.
Lets wait for 2017, I hope then the new Megane RS will comes up (the new Megane will come next year, and it looks so fucking awesome!).
To be fair, my favorite car right now is the Leon Cupra 290 ST, it offers a sporty ride for less money with a good amount of space and some nice modern features like a modern infotaiment system, adaptive cruise control and so on.... I also love the S3 Limosine, its so sexy in my opinion. The list of the features are endless and ...well its an Audi. But still, 42k for a mid-sized car is a lot of money.
For 42k you can find a C63 AMG in a very very good shape here in no time....
wikki11 The Trophy R tested here is equivalent to 53,000 euros here in the UK before extras. It's a fantastic track car but it is too compromised for every day use. I have a Cupra 280 and it's brilliant as it does fast cross country roads and by changing the engine, steering and suspension in the infotainment system, it is good on motorways (autobahns!) as well and yes - the S3 limo looks good too! I am now changing to a Golf R as I was very impressed with it so can't wait. Happy motoring mein freund!

Have fun with your new Golf R, its a beast and as good as the S3 and in my opinion the best deal for a 4 wheel drive 300ps car.

Renault Sport Megane 3 RS Trophy R ---> 275cv - FWD /// Audi S3 ---> 300cv - 4RM, more power and more torque. And in spite of that on real sport conditions, so the must, on track... Again a proof there : THE POWER WITHOUT THE CONTROL IS NOTHING ! And Renault Sport is THE Control for real motorsport fans. And all that less expensive for the Megane than the S3 (6000 to 10000€ at least in less for the Megane !). So no problems for me, I take the Renault Sport Megane 3 RS 275 Trophy, "R" or not "R". :-)

You sir are one of the most stupid petrolhead out there, can't actually even call you a petrolhead. Audi has WAY WAY better control. The drivers in the test were so terrible-yes, Audi was supposed to get ahead from start, but not that much ahead and they both literally did 0 correct turns.
@@MartisRS You aren't a proper petrolhead if you don't appreciate Renault Sport and if you think this Audi has "WAY WAY better control". Renault's hot hatches have always had the superior chassis in the segment, especially this Megane. It's been said a few times it's the Porsche GT3 of the hot hatches and rightly so. That's why you see these Megane RS's beating much more powerful cars. If you want all your creature comforts and a plush interior then go for the Audi but if you want a proper drivers car that is more focused and involving go for the Megane RS.

I drive the RS Mégane 250, and it's a fantastic beast. I've only ever had my arse handed to me (so far!) by a Golf R. Those things are bloody quick - and they sound incredible!

Prost vs Senna, awesome! Not surprised the Trophy R won. The S3 is too heavy with its creature comforts. I recently reviewed the S3 sedan on my channel and found it to be very quick but a bit detached.
You should try the RS3. It's something else :)

Megane rs : cheap, good chassis, excellent on track of course look sporty and ride and handling better.
S3 : expensive, luxurious, fast on straight line but not good on track only look good

audi s3 quattro , boite sequentielle 6 avec lunch control , tfsi 300 , 1430 kgs a vide vs megane rs 275 deux roues motrices , boite 6 manu , 1394 kgs a vide . voilas , apres la megane trophy r est une pistarde pur et dure alors que l audi est faite pour l autoroute...comme dabe , en ligne droite la megane prend cher mais quand ca tourne le chassis rs c est quand meme un autre monde !! merci le quattro pour rester sur la route !

La rs 3 c est 367 cvs pour 56000 euros et malus de 4000 euros. C est plus le même monde non plus...Après la r , y a plus rien dedans, plus de climatisation, plus de GPS, plus de détection pluie et phare auto plus de rétro electrochrome... La rs de piste façon r 26 r.

Of course they made the race tight for entertainment value. In real racing, the s3 would be nowhere near as close to the trophy-r on any race track apart from speedway race tracks.

u clearly did't read my comment. I said both are really good car. I also said the driver in the S3 made many mistakes (the driver on the megane also comment it when he was in his tail. The only way for megane to win is to get every corner right and to slipstream that S3). More power is not = to better car. but sure is a faster car in straight. and more balls and skill will make u win the race just like the driver in the megane. and I said if u chip that S3, it will be even faster. there's already video of a S4 chipped vs RS4 by chris harris. the S4 just few car length behind meaning it has at least gained 40+ hp. Audi always undertune their engine. But I dont know renault.

You need to compare sport cars with similar spec.

No it's unfair to compare the megane vs the S3 too because of the powertrain.
The fact the Megane won despite the fact that it is pnly a front driving wheels just demonstrate that it is a top level sport package.
The combination between, the chassis, the engine and the braking system is very well optimized as you could expect from a good sport package.
As far as I know the Seat Cupra is slower than the Megane on the Nurburgring track.
Anyway all the cars you mentionned are very good and exciting cars in their categories.
