    Heyyyy lovelies, In this video I am excited to be using Polymer Clay. Something I do not use often but would love to do more of. Following on from my last 2 videos and exploring the range of Let's Resin Chameleon Powders, I was asked if they could be used with Polymer Clay. I am not a Polymer Clay artist but would not let that stop me trying. Chameleon Powder on Polymer Clay and How to seal Mica Powder on Polymer Clay was my biggest question. The Mica Powder on the Polymer Clay was rubbing off on my hands so I turned to my Patrons and You Tube. Huge thank you to my Patrons for your support always. I enjoyed this so much cannot wait to try more.

    PLEASE DO NOT USE SCULPEY 111 IF YOU ARE MAKING JEWELLERY AS IT’S VERY BRITTLE IT’S BEST TO USE SCULPEY PREMO,SCULPEY SOUFFLÉ OR CERNIT THEY ARE THE BEST POLYMER CLAYS TO USE 💕💕💕OH AND A LITTLE POWDER GOES ALONG WAY 😆🤣😂😆🤣😂IT’S ALWAYS BEST TO SEAL YOUR CLAY IF YOU USE PIGMENT POWDERS 💕💕💕💕

    These look fab! One great tip I picked up from Back to Earth Creations You Tube channel is to place cling film over the clay before cutting because it slightly rounds off the top edge and makes it look smoother. That channel is definitely worth checking out because she makes the most amazing polymer clay stuff. I've only dabbled a bit with it, but I have loads of colours here waiting for me to make pendants!

    Very nice! You can save hard clay. Chop up the hard clay into small pieces. Put it in a container-I use plastic baggies, add some clay softener and seal the bag. Then massage the softener in by smushing the plastic bag until the softener is mixed in with the bits of clay. Leave it for a couple of days and you should have softer clay that you can knead and then roll out. It’s best to use firmer clay, like the Arteza or Sculpy Premo for your projects. I have been about to use clay that is at least 10 years old. Have fun!

    Lovely! And, yes, you can save the hard, crumbly polymer clay. It will be a lot of work without a clay rolling machine though. Of course, I find the whole clay conditioning process to be very relaxing, and I don’t mind the extra work. Fiona Abel-Smith has a nice video about conditioning polymer clay on her channel. I think it’s in her basics playlist. I can’t wait to see what polymer clay projects you come up with next. ✌🏼💜🛼

    I have those powders. Galaxy and the gold are my favorites. I just use my finger from the get-go, and it seems to make it shiner than using the brush. I used to work with clay a million years ago, but it didn't do it for so I quit working with it for a long time. I started using uv resin a few years ago, and after the first year, I was not really feeling inspired that much by it as well. It wasn't until I started combining clay and resin that my heart started to flutter again. 😂 Having all the current tools helps tremendously as well. Love your work. Beautiful. 🎉

  • @ChibiChula
    @ChibiChula Před 2 lety

    Yes, it was a tiny bit cringe for anyone who knows how to deal with polymer clay, lol. That said, it's not as terrible as it could have been. 😅 I do think you missed an opportunity though. When you stamped the clay and exposed the raw black clay under the pigment powder you could have brushed a different color over that part. Might have given you a really cool effect! Try it! 👍
    Edit: BTW, the Premo line and Souffle line of clay from Sculpey are probably your best bet due to the strength VS softness factor. When baking the clays they have different finish textures. Souffle has a more suede-like finish while Premo is more smooth. One thing you need to remember about polymer clay is that they can be mixed together! Yes, even across brands. Bake at the lowest recommended temperature for as long as you want (longest amount of time listed is now the minimum when mixing brands) because as long as your oven is at the correct temperature it shouldn't burn.
    As for softening your old clay, they do sell special clay softeners to help with that but liquid polymer clay would work similarly if a bit more messy. Even chopping up the old clay and tossing with a few drops of mineral oil before attempting to condition the clay works (but be careful of the amount with the oil, liquid clay is actually a better option but this works In a pinch). Personally, I actually bought a cheap electric mini food processor/chopper (a tiny thing) to help me deal with Fimo clay because it's notorious for being almost impossible to deal with once it gets old but it's also one of, if not the strongest polymer clay out there so it's still the best for certain projects, especially when you need really thin parts. Hope that helps!
