  • The BBC reaches 37 million people in Nigeria each week, and its Hausa Service alone reaches 23 million. One of its very popular programs is A Fada a Cika, Words and Action, a Hausa town hall series on governance and accountability in Nigeria. The program hosts government officials to hold them accountable for the promises they have made. The MacArthur-supported program followed up six months after town halls with the Governor of Jigawa in the northwestern region of the country, to see what progress the governors had made on their promises.
The Executive Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State spoke at a town hall with A Fada a Cika on BBC Hausa. The program followed up six months later to look at the progress on public services he promised under his administration.
