- In this video we share the full cycle of PLANTING Potatoes right through to HARVESTING 166 lbs in April and MAY. We share planting and harvesting tips on how to grow No-Dig Potatoes too.
Potatoes are one of the BEST crops you can grow for self sufficient gardening in a temperate climate and we like to maximise their food value by growing an extra EARLY crop that we harvest in May, perfectly timed as our stored Potatoes from Winter are starting to go past their best.
We are Dan & Laurie and our land is called Freedom Forest - Its 3 acres in the South of England where we are creating an edible oasis and trying to provide as much for ourselves, from our land as possible and we are completely off grid.
Our food growing journey began together in 2017 when we created our first No Dig Lasagne bed. Every year we grow more and more and now we are currently around 60-70% self sufficient in our food needs.
Our style and methods are inspired by permaculture and we try to be thoughtful about how and what we do, to be as gentle on the planet as possible.

Its such a good way to utilise polytunnel space in the winter, each year our aim is to get better at using our undercover spaces to maximum on their potential and harvests.
