Desirae spends 60 hours a week couponing to save money on everything she buys. From dumpster diving to hours of online research, she wants to get the most amount of wares for the lowest price at the store.
She says she doesn't pay anything but she's pretty much given her life to it and that's quite a huge cost really.
No different than working a 60 hour a week job. For that week of work she actually made 1056$ the groceries were 1077 an she paid 21.26 that is nothing to sneeze at and some people don't make that in a month.
@@sherrypadilla6319 Probably works for many but personally I’d rather have the cash that I could do other things with than have a truck load of toothpaste and energy drinks.
@@Steelee3 lol great point, life is short, you spend 60 hours a week to warehouse stuff most households have very little use for especially in such quantities
@@sherrypadilla6319 She actually made nothing. She happens to only pay a small amount for groceries. Let's say she gets a full time job that actually makes her money. As long as she found a job that pays more than $1770 and she'd be adding money to their bank account. Not just saving.
Great outlook!
Let's have a moment of silence for the cashier's checking these people out.
That poor woman . She will hear beep beep beep all night i think
Poor her for doing her job
@@sweetdaydreamer8868 I think it's a lot more complex and detailed than just the regular checking someone through, plus from what I've seen it can take hours. I do feel for the cashiers and the people in the queue behind the couponers.
@@sweetdaydreamer8868 It's the "too long" in time that these people take to checkout while others wait and wait and wait. . . .
@@Steelee3 we have to verify everything and read everything. If coupon policy says no overage, that means hunting down everything and doing a price inquiry on everything and inputting the amount that comes up. Even worse when it's a limit item because then that's even more fun lol.
My family knew a lady down the street who was an extreme couponer, and she opened her home to allow a lot of the low income families to get food, toiletries, snacks, and drinks, etc. It really helped us so my parents could pay bills and not have to get as many groceries bc it was always in stock thanks to this sweet lady.
Wow that woman is a saint 😁
That’s so lovely! 🥰🥰🥰
That's the nicest thing I've read today. What a star.
Wow that's so generous of her. Hopefully one day she gets repaid with her kindness
Oh how kind, bless her ❤
That dumpster she crawled into was the cleanest dumpster I've ever seen in my life.
It’s a recycling bin so just paper
Imagine it’s your first day working at that grocery store as a cashier and this is your first customer

Could never be me
It's something to learn. Usually they don't throw you in alone on your first day. You'll have someone helping you. It is annoying though.
I lolled 😂
Or if you have one item and have to wait behind her 🤮
"I'm never going to stink" *flops into dumpster*
😂
I thought that too!
I thought the same...now she NEEDS all of that soap!
😂
I remember I went into a dumpster, and I had the stink for weeks
Lol
Has anybody noticed the food she saved money on is either processed or ultra-processed? They simply don't make coupons for fruits, vegetables, dried lentils, or dried legumes. Also, correlate that knowledge with the fact that she looks much older than a 24-year-old woman.
I was just thinking much the same. I wouldn't eat anything she bought and I'm 60 and healthy. She's going to pay for that addiction with her health, sadly, like all addictions.
Maybe it's because she has a child as well, it's really stressful
@@justagirl8757 Food choices affect your health and cause stress.
I was just saying that
I wonder if she knows that she can donate a portion of her savings to charity. A thousand dollars of grocery items for only $21.00. Not too mention her stockpile of grocery's.
As a former target and Walgreens cashier, I feel the cashiers pain.
Same😭
she worked for 60 hrs for about $1057... that's less than $18/hr and she's not even paid in $$$, she's paid in sugar, processed food and chemicals. I hope she has medical insurance.
She had a blog, Coupon Diva, as shown in the video, which likely generated income for her as well
Ha I did the same thing as you- calculated the equivalent pay. Let would be more like $12/hr cause 20hrs is overtime.
I know, not to mention that she's holding up the line. I've seen people like her and I saw one woman who had so many coupons that it's overloaded the system and they threw her out.
I don´t know how much rent she pays... Where I live a spare bedroom would cost 300-600€ per month (!)... If it would cost me 450€, I would have to calculate another 100€/week only for the storage space of all that stuff...
Then the car-driving and the time she is missing out with her kid(s) :(
I would rather live paycheck to paycheck than neglecting my child over couponing...
Let’s say spend 300$ week on groceries and would could invest the remaining 700$. That’s 33000 a year that she could invest. Let’s say her her investment are at 4%…
it's people like her that are the reason for coupons now having a limit of 1 per product
that means she's living paycheck to paycheck again then
Right. This isnt even possible at stores.
Limit of 1 per ‘product’ is per item. Limit of 1 per ‘transaction’ is different.
So how does she keep up house work
Yeah, this is nearly impossible in the U.S. now because of people like her. My grandmother used to get a few free items each week from "rebates" but now most companies don't even do that anymore.
With her skills, she can contribute to the world in a much better way!
She could donate this stuff
Not her responsibility.

Not trying to judge, but couldn't this be considered an organized form of hoarding? I mean when she said to donate or have a neighbor shop, that would be really great. Let's face it no one is going to be using 48 bottles of dish soap, or 128 or so bottles of shampoo, and conditioner, all of those razors etc.
Someone who was struggling to make ends meet would probably really, really appreciate anything at all. For someone in a shelter many of those things could be a huge blessing. I know at the end of the day it's hers and she can do whatever she wants with it, but if she doesn't plan on using most of the items rather than collecting dust or being a trophy section of her couponing, someone in need could, and should get some use out of some of the things there before they go bad. Personal care items, detergents, ETC. do have a shelf life. Most of those items if ever they were going to be used that is, would most likely be past their expiration date by the time she got to it. Also, she is only accumulating more, and more at this point. Definitely should give to those in need at some point.
What's the dollar limit in one's bank account that should be considered hoarding?
When I did couponing years ago, this is what I did. I had specific things I would buy, like feminine products, detergent, etc. that I knew people on SNAP benefits couldn’t buy with that program. For example, I donated two shopping bags just of tampons to a woman’s shelter, Gain laundry detergent (which I don’t like but had great coupons) to our local food pantry, etc. I figure if I had the knowledge on how to get things for almost nothing, the least I could do was to try and help others. I liked it-I felt happy.
@@debbieomi hoarding specifically refers to obsessively collecting or holding onto objects. money doesnt usually apply to that, but people who are obsessed with how much money they have or make are also not very healthy

RIP to the guy with 3 items behind her in line.
The sad part is than they don't use none of that.
I have friends who lived in states where you could double and sometimes triple coupons, and they said it was a nightmare when these extreme couponing shows were popular because the extreme couponers would literally clear the shelves of all sale items, without regard to people on a budge trying just to get their families needs met for the week. Rather than take even a dozen items, they'd take all 36 that were just unboxed. So if you wanted to get a couple of boxes of mac and cheese on sale for your kids, you were out of luck because one person took all that was in stock.
Yes I find them a pest
Yes exactly! Used to help out our family. But that show ruined it
Early bird gets the worm 😋
Not exactly healthy. Be grateful.
Stores should place limits they could easily do that.
This is exactly why I never worked at a grocery store . Yep I’m not doing that ! It’s Almost like no common courtesy for the person who has to bag all the groceries.
I work retail, have been for 13 years and I have to say I haven't had a paper coupon given to me in the last two years
Stores don't double coupons anymore bc of this, at least where I live.
She saved about $1000, and in fact she dedicated 60h to that, she effectively earned around $17 per hour. Better than a min wage job. Can this be a consistent effort? At some point having another 100 toothpaste tubes will be less valuable than money.
She would make a great accountant or a financial controller. She’s very organized as well.
Not really because $$$ is better than bulk toothpaste, cake mix. For example is she sold it she'd get a fraction of what's worth. Hardly anyone buys toothpaste etc from strangers and if they did it'd have to be for much cheaper.
@@cloudyns uncle Sam can't tax toothpaste though 💀
"old fashioned calculator."
Literally a normal calculator
It hurts me to pay anything.
I feel ya gurl. I feel ya.
If she put this much energy into something that really mattered she’d be a billionaire
Dude who cares
She doesn’t have to do something that matters for other people if she doesn’t wanna, if she wants to do the thing with the coupons she can, so stop judging
Only if you had that much energy
Low energy

I am SO glad that most coupons now have a limit of one per customer.
Because people like her were taking advantage of the situation so now everyone losses
She's basically 8 people so..💁
It came out to 55 cents -
“Anybody got a nickel?”
Shes Not living paycheck to paycheck anymore, shes now living Coupon to Coupon!
Spend 60 hours a week, and your poor family has to live off Gatorade, Premade Brownie Mixes and candy? No thanks xD I'll keep my 9-5
Do you really think they don't eat anything but that? Couponing saves her money for meat and veggies. And everyone I know eats brownies and Gatorade!
@@uphillhomestead6188 Her pantry was filled with the processed foods that are making her obese.
@@jessiejoseph1093 well I don't know her so I can't say for sure...but that's the stuff coupons pay for. The meat doesn't get coupons usually and besides..I doubt she keeps fresh meat up on a shelf. This is her stockpile , she still has a kitchen to eat her daily meals from. My shelves are stockpiled like hers but I have plenty of fresh stuff in the fridge and freezer. .
Her website was shown in the video which likely was another form of income
@@uphillhomestead6188 she also does have her entire stock pile soooo….
As much as I love saving money, this is just another excuse to be a hoarder
All of her items are clean and organized, just like everything else in her life. It looks like she uses stuff and gets more in, but keeps a bit extra.
I, personally do this. I have 5 of the big bottles of dish soap at any given time and 5 big containers of hand soap refill. It could last me years, but when ine gets empty, I get another one at the store when I see it cheap.
She is wise and organize the coupon in patience
The emotional labor from these cashiers... They deserve a raise.
she literally has a large amount of the perfect things to have to start a homeless shelter, I really don't understand why she would rather just stock them when she will never be able to use all of these before they expire and imagine how many people she could help with these things especially the diapers.
I signed up for a couponing class years ago. They told you everything about it except where they get the coupons from. People were asking but they kept avoiding the question. Eventually they said "coupon clipping services", you pay for the coupons! I'm sure you save in the long run, but you're still paying for it
They probably didn’t want to tell y’all right away
This is basically her chosen job. It's not easy but she loves it so much, so why not. In my country this would be absolutely impossible. I love that she has basically her own little store right at home 😁
