      I feel this so much. The guy I talked to at the store said he had 600+ hours in it and my jaw dropped. But I totally get it. I've beaten Hades twice now (with god mode so I'm not great at it)
      And I'm barely 25 hours in. How...HOW can there be so much content!? I'm still loving every second of it.

    I would love to see maybe a DLC where non-Greek gods reveal themself to Zagreus and gift him boons out of curiosity. Kinda how chaos was first revealed but more like the standard boon encounters. Like how cool would it be to have Anubis appear and gift you a mummification boon that can stun enemies or something like that. I think it could be really fun

One of the parts i've enjoyed the most is slowly building the relationships with the different gods and i'm so happy I decided not to look up what i'd get from the different gods by doing so. It would have ruined the fun of saving my nectar and ambrosia so i could give it to the gods i like most rather than to the ones that offered the best rewards. Also, anyone who doesn't pet Cerberus every chance they get is a monster.

    Two easily missed things:
    - Each mirror skill can be flipped! Press the little button on the left of each name, and make sure to save up darkness for those as well. Didn't notice myself until today after playing for two months, and only due to the Fate list mentioning twice as many as I thought there were...
    - Damage numbers can be toggled in the settings, which reduces clutter and sensory input for those who already struggle a bit with the cascade of information on the screen :) Makes the game far more enjoyable imo~

    I personally had to turn on God Mode since I wasn’t having fun constantly dying before even getting to Surface. I kept God Mode on for awhile and got the ending. And then I after finishing the Fates List I finally decided to turn it off and run with the Pact always active. Same here, although so far I have kept God Mode on.
      I'm not usually a fan of roguelikes, and even with a lot of practice there's usually a limit to how well (or rather "less badly") I'm doing at a game. I was still having fun with Hades, thanks to the excellent story and because I was making slow yet constant progress.

  • @SG_Dave
    @SG_Dave Před 2 lety +12

    That god question at the end: I think it'd be cool for a mechanic, post game mode, or a biome where instead of the Greek Pantheon the Roman alternatives start appearing. So you clear a room and get a Zeus boon, hit the symbol and... wait, Jupiter? Poseidon -> Neptune. Aphrodite -> Venus. These boons should also be twisted slightly, similar to how Chaos gives you a debuff to get a buff in the end. Maybe the Roman pantheon boons should be top tier straight off the bat , but fade in strength the longer they are active until they start going negative because their power isn't quite the same to a Greek demigod. That way you're incentivised to keep your build juggled and replacing boons that are about to go sour.

    One of my favorite builds atm is Malphons fists upgraded to max evasiveness and then equipping Hermes' Lambert Plume at the beginning to get as much dodge chance as possible by the end! (Especially good when you get Divine Dash on top of it) I clear the game almost every run with this combo and that's great for trying to finish the fated lists with different heats/mirror aspects! Going only from greek mythology, I think it would be cool if later on you could start getting boon offerings from titans and other primordial deities, like Chronos giving you time-altering abilites (maybe some sort of bullet time effect? Projectiles move slower when they get closer to you?). What would also be really cool going along that line of thought is if you could get some of their boons in special ways, like getting something from the primordial deity Tartarus by finding a hidden area in Tartarus, or getting boons from any of the river deities (Styx, Phlegethon, etc) through fishing in their respective rivers. If we're not limiting it to Greek Mythology, considering the weapon aspects already don't, then I would love some Norse and/or Egyptian gods. Odin has so much boon potential, Heimdall could give some really interesting abilites, Ra could fill in for the large gap Apollo left, Thoth could be pretty cool. Really I just want more characters in the game in general, Supergiant has such cool character design and I love the subtle references they put into every single character.

    Late reply, and also, not a god, but I want a questline with Hector of Troy, where you help him reconcile with Patroclus (and Achilles) before he go for rebirth so he can find his wife Andromache in the next life. Because I think about Patroclus/Achilles and Hector/Andromache pararells a lot. I think that without the war, they'd have all be friends, especially Patroclus and Hector, as they share so many traits and personalities. Like, he want to both apologize to Patroclus and to forgive Achilles. Instead of giving him nectars, you can find some non-hostile soul blobs (like the one Elysium enemies turn into when you killed them) scattering around the underworld, and you can return them to Hector, and he'll tell you these are souls of his sibling. Your goal is to collect 99 of them (yeah his dad have 50sons and 50daughters) and only when you done it will you unlock his last quest to reconnect with Achilles and Patroclus.

      It looks tougher and more chaotic than it really is. No, that is not true. It is that tough and chaotic BUT since you are dying so much (each time with a nice reward, to make the next run more fun) you are being eased into it and it is positively challenging instead of annoyingly hard.
      I usually don't like grindy games but this... is something different.

      Why wouldn't you want to rely on God mode? The name might imply invincibility or such, but it's really not - I've had it on through all of my 35 runs and I still end up dying here and there due to the pact (late-game difficulty tweaker). I really really do recommend trying it out, especially with damage numbers toggled off for less noise on screen!

    • @luthiennenharma
      @luthiennenharma Před 2 lety +1

      God Mode is actually a bit more nuanced than it sounds, it makes the game easier but not too easy.
      You can switch it on and off anytime (even during a run, if you only want some help for a boss fight for example)
      God Mode simply gives you a damage reduction, starting with 20%. Any time you die with God Mode on, the percentage increases by 2% (it is capped at 80% I believe).
      So it really is just a way to slightly adjust the difficulty settings, especially if you're not that accustomed to roguelikes/fast-paced dungeon crawlers (speaking from experience here). I activated it about 30 hours in, and the game is still very enjoyable and challenging.

    I'd like to see Kronos (or Cronus) Titan god of Time, Harvest, Fate, Justice and Evil. father of the Olympians (and Chiron). I'd like to see Zagreus meet his grandfather (maybe by way of Chiron) in Tartarus and find a way to free him and bring him to Elysium and reconciling father and sons (after all Kronos' reign was considered the Golden Age of by none other than Plato where peace reigned between man and beast and learning and art were paramount - a far better place than the mess the Olympians ruled over). I have a soft spot for old Father Time and he is as messed up by his parents fighting as Zeus is.

    Regarding the Lambent Plume and Pierced Butterfly keepsakes, I would add that you lose the dodge chance/attack bonus if you change to a different keepsake during the run... found that out the hard way :/
    Both keepsakes work best imho if you commit to using them for an entire run. Finishing a chamber quickly/not getting hit is much easier in Tartarus, where the enemies are still relatively easy. It also means you have a higher chance to achieve a decent dodge chance/attack bonus overall.
    STORY SPOILER warning:
    .
    .
    .
    My favorite keepsake, especially for the Temple of Styx (last region before the Hades bossfight), is Persephone's Pom Blossom.
    After you defeat Hades ten times, the credits roll and Persephone returns home to the underworld. There you can give her Nectar and in return receive her keepsake.
    It works basically like a Pom of Power, leveling up a random boon every 4 chambers. And in the Temple of Styx, every small room you fight through to get to a boon counts as a chamber. So, depending on how fast you find the Satyr Sack/whether you enter the other doors after having found the Satyr Sack, you can rack up several levels. For me this is usually a better preparation for the final boss than the boons you pick up there.

    Endgame boss is too hard. End up running through the game like a chore, just to find that your build isn't directed all at one single thing, defeating end boss. The endboss hardcaps the game, as you can't collect new crafting items, before you beat him.
    Also a boss like the shieldbearer in act 3, is frustrating in a dumb way, especially with some of the weapons. Again the game becomes, get a cast, so you can oneshot the shieldbearer when he rages.
    This takes so many hours out of the game.

    • @Renoistic
      @Renoistic Před 2 lety

      After beating the end boss 20+ times (Poseidon or Aphro calls make short work of him but are not required) I'd say the shield boss is giving me a lot more trouble due to all the stuff the game throws at you from outside the screen. But any boons that give you status attacks or mobility will help overall, not just with endboss.

      As someone who struggled HARD when I first began playing the game, I feel ya, BUT once you learn these bosses battle techniques, they aren't that difficult. I started a fresh game without godmode recently and was very surprised with how quickly I was able to win a run considering how much I struggled the first time even with godmode. I haven't turned godmode on yet in my new save and I'm kicking ass and having fun. Try new things! That's my biggest advice. You might really like a particular build, but it might not be as strong as something else and you won't know until you try a variety of boons and combinations.
