    This video was sooo great. I didn't know the sad ending and great loss, about the Neiger brothers. What a remarkable life they led. I wish their gift had been enough to save them 💔
    Thank you again for all of the beautiful eye candy. I loved the red and silver brooch too. But the green necklace, shown in closeup, took my breath away.

    You have wonderful pieces! I so appreciate your talent and knowledge. The Czech people made wonderful jewelry and they still make fantastic crystals. Thank goodness for that, as Swarovski is no longer selling to bead stores and to jewelry makers like myself. I am just drooling over your collections!!😊❤️

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Před rokem +1

      Hi Nathalie! I’ve also seen a few marked W. Germany. Many of the Western Germany pieces have the same Czech craftsmanship. The Western Germany pieces are also shown and mentioned in the book on Bohemia. Some of the Czech jewelry makers continued their craft of making jewelry after the war but were living in German. That’s why I love collecting both Czech and W. Germany. Such beautiful jewelry! Thank you so much!❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Great video :-) The first 2 necklases (yellowish colour) might be with added cadmium or uranium glass - try black light, if shining orange = cadmium, if green - uranium. I have very similar ones.

    Question : did the NEIGER BROTHERS have a factory where after they designed and made PROTOTYPES (?) that were then made by others in large quantities ?
    Do you know how that worked ? So sad that they lost their lives in such a horrible manner , they were wonderful artists.

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Před rokem

      As far as I know from researching them, they did not have a factory,but yes at one point, they did have a larger scale workshop with a couple dozen employees that worked with/ under them.

    Pam, do you know how to tell real amber from the faux? I have a necklace that is light-weight and has insects like bees and spiders along with ferns inside. There are also bubbles in the beads. This is part of my mother’s vintage collection of jewelry. Thank you!

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Před 2 lety +1

      The float test is a good way to do so without damaging the item. It’s relatively simple; salt disolved in water, if the item is amber it will float. You can also look at it under a UV light. Amber glows under UV light. Hope this helps😊❤️❤️❤️

    • @marienylander6034
      @marienylander6034 Před 2 lety +1

      @@VintageVariety what about the temperature of the stone? Does that work on amber?

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Před 2 lety

      @@kelsco4039 I’ve never heard of testing it by temperature. If you rub the stone hard against your pant leg or a piece of cloth until it becomes slightly warm you can test by smell. It will smell like copal.

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Před 2 lety +2

      I agree! I have one I didn’t show because I believe it’s probably fake ☹️ the beads are fabulous but the pendant which is signed makes me believe it’s a well done fake.
