Install Aftermarket Speakers in 07-13 GM Truck - No Adapters Needed! - Silverado and Sierra

  • This video will show you how to use the OEM speakers to make adapters to install aftermarket 6.5" speakers in the front doors of a 2007-2013 Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra.
This same process can be used for the rear doors as well.
Also works on Chevrolet Cobalt as they use the same exact speakers.

This is the best instruction I've seen on this. The door is not sealed. Condensation will run down the wires. When you remove the connector, notice there's a WIRE DRIP LOOP below the speaker. This prevents the water running into the speaker. Make sure you make another on your new mods. For extra protection, cut up a zip lock type plastic bag and cover the back of the speaker. Mount the speaker in place and trim the excess plastic.

Thanks for making this video, it really helped me with my 2010 Silverado. I'm so glad you mentioned which wires were positive and negative. You saved me some time for sure. I soldered mine in with heat shrink and also added a little plastic hood to the top to prevent water from dripping onto the new speakers.

I did the modification for the rear speaker brackets. My friend ordered stuff and didn't get the new brackets. I used pliers and just snapped the ring off instead of using a dremel. It works good also. Thanks for the video cause I would have never thought of doing this.

Might be a good idea to use a vice to hold the part in a vice to keep safe - or temporarily screw it down to a piece of scrap wood if you don't have a vice. Great Post!

My buddy did this while replacing my door speakers in my 95 GMC Sierra. It’s a cool time saving trick that fits like factory. I’ll be doing the same on my 2011 Silverado 2500hd. Great video and great advice for folks looking for a easy upgrade. 🤘😎🤘

Just finished this up on my 07 2500 HD. It is a little more difficult on the power window/locks model. The back doors are still super easy but the front you have to be patient and work within that tight space because the panel won't move much like on the manual window model. Front was 6 1/2s and the rear fit 5 1/4s. Thanks for this video rtkota5point9. Saved about $40 bucks using this trick!!!

I have always wanted more out of the system but didn't want to change too much out if it was going to be a big job and expense that would not give much improvement with the head unit and hidden amps.
