Great tactical desert rifle with a magpul hunter stock that takes Accuracy International 10 round 308 mags. Love mine put a timney in it. God bless you Ozzies, may you keep your powder dry and your government in check!
Thanks for another great review, I have been looking at the Ruger in 243 and also the bergara take down (single shot) in 243 when everything is back to normal, it’s a late birthday present to myself
Yep CZcams will take a few hundred off me soon as they’ve done in the past (they call it getting rid of fake accounts 🙄) but my view/subscriber rate is still strong and gaining momentum thankfully!
I'm absolutely hooked on these Ruger Americans... I have the Ranch in 5.56, its shorter than my 10/22's and the Standard in .308... they both drive tacks, they're unbelievable for the money. Even with the current "US gun grab conditions" my local SCHEELS has this Compact .243 for $399US,,, should probably get off my butt and go buy it,,, LOL...
Great review. I have the 22 compact. Great little rifle. I love the 70 degree bolt throw. Reminds me of an Enfield. They're at such a great price point too. You get an accurate, reliable rifle for half the price of other brands.
I agree with the OSA ammo, it shoots outstanding out of my Howa 1500 .223 with the blitzking being the best and consistently grouping at around .5 inch. Other ammo ,not so good.
With those magazines I find that putting THREE ROUNDS in the mag and then loading the fourth directly into the chamber (8:30 mark) works best. When closing the bolt I will push down slightly on the last bullet in the mag so that the bolt clears it. This then gives the FOUR BULLETS. Of course you can still put four in the mag and do the same thing for FIVE BULLETS TOTAL, but it is really TIGHT and I don't wish to push things that far!
Handy little 243, with most manufacturers producing 'budget' rifles that seem to shoot. Appreciate all the reviews, if you could get your hands on a cz 527 223, i'd like to hear your opinion.
My 223 RAC consistently outshot my Tikka T3 Hunter in 223 (now sold). I have since bought a RAC in 308Win as well, just waiting for the range to open after the COVID19 BS). It is not a crucial feature, but all of the other budget rifles are gawky looking units and the American has nice lines. Life is too short to shoot ugly guns.
I love 243 in 55gn for crows myself, I 'm still behind at least in the 4 figures and dead crows to the amount of lambs they killed on me so I want fast rounds and you can get I think 3900fps in Fed blue which go real well.
Back and forth on to try a Ruger A or not. They dont look bad to me, and if going to go cheaper for a rifle, they seem to be the most squared away depending on the deal. If you cant find one priced right Id look at howa for similar money, and also the T/C venture I've seen deals on. Not as big of fan of the Savage Axis. Im sure they shoot ok, and the gen 2 stock is better though. You might be able to get a blued/synthetic Tikka for a decent deal if you shop around too.
The problem that I have had with the .223 was that two (2) magazine latches broke and were replaced by Nioa, a very weak amount of plastic to hold the pivot pin. All my magazines are gently inserted on the bench, never slapped as one would in a hunting situation - this issue was acknowledged by Ruger USA.
OSA ammo, I don't think we can get that here in the states. I'v got the same rifle stainless 22 inch barrel, haven't hunted anything with it yet though..
Sold all their Left hand compacts in every caliber. None in the world available. My ruger compact 243 LH is more accurate than my most accurate. Amazed how it shot great groups with all types ammo. Ruger Brain Dead and stopped making them{left hand compact} I would like to know which country made them???
6 pounds is light! Can I ask what it weighs with the scope, mounts & a sling on it? I do love a light weight walk around rifle in .243, and my featherweight Winchester model 70 long action with Leupold fixed 6 power scope is the one I automatically reach for if I’m going to be walking at all.
I know that Sako ammo is good. So do you think that the barrel was a bit warm by the time you finished using the OSA ammo, which might have detrimentally affected accuracy by the time you got to the other brands?
No, he leaves a long cool down between ammo types, patches.....fair comparison. But every gun is its own science experiment, so you have to test and try.
How cute, I didn't even know you people were allowed to own guns. Can you recommend an Australian made equivalent then? Thanks for AC DC though. Oh and you're welcome for not being Japanese right now lol
Great caliber the 243w , i love mine , thanks for the review 👍

Love the calibre & the VMAX round, devastating! My first high powered rifle such a great all rounder for Australia. Totally anchors foxes.
That 87g vmax is awesome shoots just clover holes at 100 out of the Lithgow. Aussie ammo is right up there with match grade
Couldn’t agree more Chris. They shoot the best in all of my rifles.

Really handy little package; .243 seems a perfect fit
Thanks Ozzie. Congrats on the 40k subscribers too!!

David Neil I’ve had two 223 mini action howa’s. One sporter and one varmint. They both shoot the osa blitzkings under moa all day long.
David Neil pretty much, the only other good ammo IMO is Hornady

G'day mate
Love your work

Another top video mate, I hope you are doing well during these crazy times we’re living in, take care mate 👍🇦🇺
Nice,..I do like these bolt action rifles,...OSA ammunition doesn't seem to be available in Canada either,..pity!
Ill definitely be checking out the OSA 243 ammo. cheers Ozzie.
Good review. Just bought one in 7mm-08.

Great review Try the aussie outback ammo my 223 RAP loves it

Stone the flaming crows
@@trevortaylor2778 damn right
Crows kill lambs? Dang.
@@jifigz absolutely... start by pecking their eyes out, cruel death...

On my 7mm08 compact I put a magpul stock on it factory mag broke 47 rounds in
Another Ozzie video......WoHooooo!
very nice video i just got the same rifle compact , 243
how far can you shoot it accurately
Great review mate 👍🏻
I can’t to decide whether to get this or the Winchester XPR they both seem like amazing rifles
Gracias.
I heard that the Remington core lock work very good on Ruger but I never see a tested with 243 caliber
I wish they would make
The same config in the predator version and thread the barrel. Same barrel length….same calibers.
OSA ammo, I don't think we can get that here in the states. I'v got the same rifle stainless 22 inch barrel, haven't hunted anything with it yet though..
I have the predator .223 model that takes the AR-15 mags. You should revirew it sometime.
2 years later, how's the rifle holding up?
should do a Shoot off with the LA102 and the t3x in .223REM

It's about $365 here in the 🇺🇸

A 6 lb. Rifle in 7/08 will kick like a .308? What if you put a scope on it, would that take the recoil back down?
Is the weaver mount that comes with the Ruger American steel or aluminum?
any issues with the mag?
Try 60gr hornady tap in your 223, my RAP 223 loves them
Why wouldn't you review a magpul edition.
What is the twist in metric?
What type of scope do you have
Check out our review of the Ruger American in 223: czcams.com/video/lurfn3QQsEc/video.html
Might be more accurate if your barrel is 1/8'' twist
How much for price??
👍
What ring height?

3 shots not even close to enough to determine MOA
please get lower music and I may subscribe.
🤣👍🏻
Cheap American made junk
@William Underwood I've shot them and i would never own one

The longer barrel is more accurate than the compact.
