- Hi everyone! This week I will be showing you how I lit my Detolfs using Govee LED light strips. It was so easy to do and hope this inspires some of you to also light up your collections! As always thanks for watching, and I'll see you next week with my February figure haul.

I love seeing parents being so supportive of their little figure collectors! This is so sweet! Also thanks for the tutorial! I'll be getting one soon and can't wait to put my 5 figures and 1 nendoroid on them xD
My parents definitely rock! Congrats on joining the Detolf gang haha
My parents just look at them like “why? What do they do?”
And I’m like.. “I just think they’re neat 😁”
That’s the best. I’m 29 but I still always show my mom any new nendoroids I get, she loves them.
My mum: U gotta stop buying figures
Me (Who’s expecting three more to come by next year) 🥱
just today I bought a detolf thank you very much for making this video 🤭
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Nicest lighting compared to all other videos.
what a helpful dad and cats :D
I was a bit skeptical at first about doing this to my detolf, but I can’t thank you enough for this tutorial! I will for sure do this down the road
Yay, I'm so glad!
The only tip I'd add is instead of feeding the entire strip through the hole, unplug it from the controller and just run the connecting end through from the inside. A smaller hole is required that way, if the leds don't have to go through. I also like all black cats. They seem to be more relaxed than others, in my experience anyways. I envy your collection.
After trying to find the perfect LED strip, I think I will go with these ones. The lighting and it's colour variety options etc made me love the look of it on your figures in the detolf! Thank you Gwyn!
My friend sent me this video since I’m finally buying my first detolf case for my figures, thank you for helping share your knowledge 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow. Looks so christmasy. I especially loved the blue and purple colourings. Really adds to the figure display.
This video was just what I was looking for! I'm going to scoop up Detolf this weekend and was curious how to set up the lights. I use Govee RGBIC for my Arcade and they're definitely worth the money :) I've seen some people run the strips both the front and back of the cab but I like how the reflection makes it appear like you did too even though it appears just to be the front of the cabinet. Yours looks freaking RAD!
Thanks again for the help! Stay clean and Game On!
Miss your video help a lot thank you 😭🙌🏽
Thank you for the awesome video. Recently expanded my figure collection (I'm at 19 now) and have been looking at getting a detolf for a while. I never understood how people did their lights though so I've been putting it off. Now I've got a good idea so here's hoping they come back in stock soon.
Thanks for this video! I have my current detolf set up with the LED strips on each shelf like you mentioned in the introduction. Since IKEA changed their entire LED lineup since I got mine, I was looking for inspiration for when I get my 2nd detolf. I think I'll switch your solution in the long run.!
Love the simplicity of the process, thanks for the guide! I can't wait to try it out when I get my first detolf ❤
Best tutorial I’ve watched. Thank you 🙏🏼♥️
Oh sweet! I spent all day yesterday researching LEDs, detolf mods, sizes and dimensions etc. and came up with a setup that would work for what I wanted: well lit all around with RBG. Just clicked on this for the hell of it, just see what people are doing and... this is exactly what I plan to do! Same layout of the strips, same LEDs themselves! It looks great!
I'm hopefully moving into my first apartment next weekish and have been super excited to finally display all my stuff I've been collecting over the past year and a half. Still all boxed away.
Pretty good timing with this upload!
Also Mikuuuu!
Hi, how did your move go and setting up your LED lights in your cabinets? And what do you collect? 😁
Thanks for making this video I finally got a detolf and just I stay the LEDs using your method it looks amazing!
This video was a big help in helping my decide what to do for lighting my figures
Exactly what I needed since I’ll be buying one this weekend 🤩 Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm glad I could help! Thanks for watching :)
Love the display cabinet lighting. I just ordered my own cabinet aswell will, try these lights out looks cool.
Girl this is inspiring me to get a detolf and adding lighting to display my haikyu nendoroids!! 🥰 love this video! ❤️
THANK YOU!!! It looks fantastic! I've been really struggling to figure out which lighting to install on my detolf and you've inspired me to do this :)
I’ve been so nervous with adding lights to my display, so this video has been a life saver
Love the Spice and Wolf and K-On figures thanks for the vid
Yo I really appreciate this gwyn! I needed something to have my figures stand out. Keep the vids coming and keep grinding 🦾💯
Im just about to buy my detolf. Great timing!
Ooooo okay so this is gonna make my life easier when i get myself a detolf and lights 🤩
This was really fun to watch!
Thanks, great demo LED lighting video, very instructive, well filmed, and narrated.
Awesome video and info! Thank you Gwyn!
Just got two detolfs for my birthday, this vid is just what I needed xD
thank you a lot, loved the display in your vids and wondered where you got them. Very cool! Gonna use it for my room
Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Saving this for future reference! Hoping to get some detolfs soon
Really helpful, thanks Gwyn! I'm looking to set up detolfs later this month after I get some after my birthday. I'll definitely use this as a guide for when it comes to setting up mine as well :)
Nice video! I luckily already had these led strips and a drill bit. Thanks for sharing and saving me a few bucks.
Looks great! Now I have to get up the courage to do this to mine.
I love that Tamaki and Shinra figure 🔥
Thank You For The Video And Idea For My Figures!
Great job Gwyn 👍! I highly recommend going with this lighting method to easily light up a Detolf. It's clean, relatively inexpensive, and gives you lots of amazing colorful lighting options. I have 5 Detolfs and went a different route, preferring to use wired LED pucks, but hiding a massive amount of wires to get a clean professional-looking installation was a nightmare! I really LOVE the way mine turned out, but the LED strip method you used is definitely the way to go if you want to avoid headaches and save a good amount of $$$ for more figures instead of lights.
What's an LED puck?
@@thejamesbondshow9754 Basically is just a premanufactured circular light approximatly the with of a hockey puck with embeded LEDs instead of strips. Once install they resemble miniature recessed celing lights.
Adorable
Great vid, I always thought it's super complex to do this, but it seems pretty simple honestly. I have 3 detolfs full of One Piece figs and I got the regular IKEA top lights, but they are far from what I wanted as they only light up the top shelf and rest is under shadow of whatever is on that that shelf. Your setup looks sooo much better.
I have space for 2 new detolfs in my room and I’m so excited to go pick them up!!
I was actually thinking of getting some lights like this for my shelf. Hopefully it turns out as well as yours did.
I'm planning to have one soon. Thanks for this vid.
This is was super fun!!
Thank you for the tips.
great video! only thing I'd add here is that you can cut the LED strips to length, so rather than having all the spare LED coiled up under the cabinet, you can instead feed the entire strip through the hole, then cut your strip after sticking down all the length you need :)
LED rgb are game changer, i dont even use my light in my room anymore 😂
Hey this was great thank you for the very informative tutorial!
Great looking setup! Gave me some ideas on what to do in the future :)
Looks really awesome 👍👍👍
My boyfriend is taking me to IKEA to get one of these on Saturday! And then one day I will definitely add like to it!
Thanks for the warning ❤

Mandalorian!!! CULTUREEEE
I used a similar method for mine! Great tips!
Interesting, a good insight into which way I want to go , thank you
Awesome been making excuses to get mine but definitely gonna do it now
Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I live nowhere near an ikea and shipping is super expensive online to buy a detolf so I’ll invest into a much more expensive display, but thanks to your video, I can prepare for Led light strips when I eventually get some. 😁
Nice Job, it came out very neat!
Awesome video! This helped me so much! Thank you :D
Great video!
Well done you, it looks fantastic 😍🇯🇵😍🇯🇵😍
Love this video. You're great! Very helpful :3
You are so adorable.....😁
I looked up a video to help me with ideas of how to put in strip lighting and came across your channel and your video and sat watch the entire thing because you are so watcjable and great to see you're a cat lover I have 4 cats myself and they certainly do get in amongst my James Bond collection and knock things over, in great to see your dad helping you out.
And I got some absolutely great information from youso thank you so much for making this tutorial and I love the way you won't step-by-step which is really going to help me.
I subbed to your channel and like your page and can't wait to check out more of your videos and I hope you've got more cabinets and more collector pieces over the last year 😁👍🍸🐕🐕🐈🐈🐈🐈
Your dad is awesome!! Great video and thanks for making it look so easy!! :)
Thank you for video I bought same leds and I’m gonna make same think :)
I really wanna buy a detolf, but sadly my ikea is closed and the delivery cost is pretty much the price of the detolf, but at least when I get one I know where to come back to figure out how to light it! :D
That’s so cool! I have a similar setup like yours, I’m also a new collector ✌️
I wish you the best of luck in the future for your collection!
Thanks! You too!
Your dad is great. Good tutorial.
Nice video! Looking forward to IKEA opening soon here in our country
love that misato figure in the beginning, i have the same one. one of the best she's gotten so far but that new megahouse figure coming out next may might take the throne
thank you for a great tutorial, and thank you for the epilepsy warning ^_^ i’m not photosensitive, but it’s always appreciated ! will totally give another watch once i finally buy a detolf lmao
Great video! I’ve seen people tape the lights to the bars on the inside of the detolf too. I am yet to get my detolfs as I move in to a new house in a couple of months so will wait until then. Not sure which method for lighting is best tho. Love them both
I might buy one and do this :)
Now that's a pimp setup. I need to clean my room and get shelves for my figures too. They're all in their boxes stacked up in my room lol.
🕺🤩🕺I like set up mood lighting in house~
Nice work -- I used V shaped diffusers on my Detolf for my diecast models - for the video here I would remove the excess strip that goes from the drilled hole back to the mains supply - just cut the strip off and sodler wires in place with heatshrink back to the power box - then you wont get extra LEDs beyond the cabinet where you dont want them
wow your shelves are lit fam
Haha thank you!
I’m starting to come up and give me some ideas thank you for sharing keep safe take care all the family great video new to your channel and it’s brilliant 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video, also super sweet kitty 😊
I noticed you just used 1 strip for the front of the detolf, did you ever consider using 2, like 1 for the front and one for the back? Do you find that just lighting up the front is sufficient?
I’m going to put lights in my detolf soon and am wondering whether or not I should do the front and back
Loved the video you just gained a subscriber I’m a collector as well .
Thank you :)
Hi Gwyn, thanks for the video. I was curious, did you just “hide” the extra lighting?
Honestly I want to get LED under kitchen cabinet lights. You can get wirelessly controlled ones with color temp controls too. They usually get super bright compared to LED lights strips
thats a nice glass display i just brought mine today im putting my dragon ball z figures in there
Very cool. Right now I just have overhead puck lights. Might get strips for even lighting. Cable management is such a hassle.
Ya cable management was the main reason I went with LED strips
I just recently ordered a Chika figure can't wait till it comes.
She will be my first figure I only have nendroids for now
Chika is best girl! Congrats on your first figure!
@@GwynCollects Yes Chika best girl
I bought these exact ones, but unless at full brightness I noticed flickering.
Any recommendations on how to not have flickering lighting?
I put my led light strips through the hole on top of the detolf, I got 16ft geeni strips and they were nearly perfect, only had to cut a few inches off. They turn any color you want and my figures look sooooo good! I’m glad I saw this video and went the led strip route, was about to get the detolf light bar set from ikea or the spot lights which would have been pretty boring in comparison, would have just lit them up. Not as cool as rainbow 🌈 or your choice of color.
Bought a Detolf too. Do you think it would be also nice to put the LED strip to the back or is it recommended the way you did it at the front side?
these look sooo good! also can i ask what is that thing hanging to the left of your leftside detolf on the wall? it has piqued my interest xD
You can do it with the hole on the top shelf to right?
A there adapters or extra connector cords these? or will I need to buy 4 of these to get them glow, that's what im confused about, I cane they come in the back of 2.
Nice video….I believe Detolf have a hole on top for lighting. I’m thinking of doing those without drilling .Thx!
here for kittie content, and of course the whole video but ya know. kitties.
So you used one 32.8ft strip for both detolfs? Did you hide the strip under the entertainment center?
Thanks for the video mom ^^
Thanks for watching :D
hi mom
