Hunter. I have same ESP eclipse II black. Since 2005. (I won’t mention what I paid for it because well, the hate). 😛 Mine is the first year they offered that guitar in the US with that color. It was also supposed to have 4 knobs when I ordered it. The whole stop making 4 knobs happened from when I ordered it till I got it. There are 3 differences between mine and yours. My guitar is all mahogany no maple cap. The knobs are black and sperzel locking tuners. Mine came stock with EMGs. I left those for a year and it has had Duncans since. Currently it has a JB/Jazz antiquity set. I have a bunch of other guitars. This guitar has remained in my top 5 since the day I got it. I can understand why you like this guitar so much. I am glad you got it back and in top shape. P.S. the bridge of mine has the same gold wearing off. Thank You Palm mutes. 😁

I don't think 9's with 24.75 in Drop D is bonkers. I do it too....but with changing the 42 to a 46. That's the string that needs the most tension help. The tone is more defined, thicker, and tighter. Maybe try that if ya haven't!

That is so cool man! I feel inspired, so I'll share my story. I recently got my old favorite Ibanez from like 20 years ago out of the case so to speak, upgraded it and and busted out the files and shit. Mine had dents in the frets too! After i got it fixed up though, playing it is just so gratifying! Sounds like I thought it did when i was like 17 or so playing it through some Kustom digital amp i had ha ha!
It's magical playing an old main guitar, it's like your fingers know exactly where to go, how to fret the strings at the right angle and amount of pressure to make it sing.

  • @pharmerdavid1432
    @pharmerdavid1432 Před rokem

If you use pure nickel wound strings - I prefer round core, then they won't wear-out your frets. The nickel coating over steel strings wears-out quickly from the string rubbing against the fret, then the steel grinds against the softer nickel-silver (even Jescar, which are harder than Dunlop etc.), which rapidly wears grooves into the frets. I find higher quality steel used in more expensive strings, makes a much better string: they don't stretch as much in the beginning, then stay in tune after that, unlike regular strings from D'Addario, Ernie Ball etc., which stretch and stretch and stretch and then go dead. Since the more expensive strings feel better to play - round core are more flexible, sound better, and last longer, it seems like a no-brainer to me, so that's all I use anymore.

    I have an LTD EC-1000
Was my first really good guitar.
It was stolen from my apartment a couple years after I bought it and i was freakin devastated as I'm a lefty and it's hard to come by good guitars.
My uncle sent me a cheap guitar (an EC-50) a couple weeks after that to hold me over till i got another good one.
One day I went to a pawn shop that was quite a few blocks from where I lived to get some strings for the new guitar and lo and behold there was my EC-1000 hanging on the wall.
Needless to say I bought it back and held it close to my side ever since.
So rare and lucky to get your instruments back and I'm thankful as heck.
But anyways, even the LTD models are deadly ass guitars. They play and sound great, have really thin necks, killer pickups, and look pretty slick overall.

Wow it seems like Sweetwater really did take care of you. They look pretty awesome, a shame I can't really give them any of my own business being in the UK.
I really don't understand how they could have fixed that pitting/wear in the frets without putting new frets in?! I've seen a local guitar workshop advertising near where I live and they offer full refrets that are something like £600 (about the same in dollars really) for a stainless steel refret. So I suppose it must have been a combination of some real expert fret dressing and that high tech Plek machine to get your most special guitar back to its best without needing a pricey refret.
I actually tried my first LTD/ESP model recently. A second hand guitar shop in my city recently expanded into much bigger premises as they had so many more guitars than their smaller shop could fit so for the first time I was able to find an ESP brand guitar in my city. It was an LTD EC-1000 black cherry with EMGs.
TBH it wasn't really my thing, I think I've got far too acquainted with Super-Strat style models to appreciate single cuts so much, but I could certainly feel the quality of the instrument. Felt incredibly sturdy and well built - heavier than I expected but not in a bad way, just felt nice and solid. The ESP website describes that model as having a 'Thin U' neck but it did feel a bit thicker to what I'm used to but for those wanting a modern single cut style guitar the neck is probably the ideal compromise between classic chunkiness and modern slender. My favourite thing was just how beautiful the inlays looked from the playing position. Action was incredibly low too. EMGs sounded great for clean stuff, but they didn't have a suitably high gain amp ready to go to try the chuggy metal stuff though.
Anyways, whilst I'm definitely more of a Super-Strat style guy it hasn't put me off the single cut shape, in fact it just makes me want to try some more! The increased chunky resonance over a Strat style body is one of the benefits I can agree with. And it really is impressive just how many Eclipse variations ESP/LTD do. Surely this would be Agufish's modern alternative to his favourite classic: www.espguitars.com/products/31214-e-ii-eclipse-full-thickness-evertune
Made in Japan, Evertune which we know Agufish loves, that black & gold colour scheme that just oozes class (which even includes the Evertune parts itself), plus Fishman Fluence Classics which are some of my favourite Fluence models as they can handle just about any style of music,
Interesting about the lock on your original case breaking. I just got my first high end guitar recently, an Ibanez Prestige 7 string. My first ever made in Japan model, and my first to come in a hard case. After I'd got the guitar safely out of the case I ended up knocking the case ever so gently with my foot (socked too...no shoes!) and this little metal strip came off. Couldn't work out for ages what it was for but finally realised it was so you could put a padlock on the case to secure it. Clearly these bits of case hardware aren't in the same quality league as the guitar. At least I know from your video there's no point trying to get it fixed, just have to live with it. Not that I'm a travelling guitarist anyway with a concern that my instrument may be targeted for theft from the case during the jet-setting travels in my head xD And if that situation ever did come up in the future I'm sure there are aftermarket locks available.

I mean, I love the way my guitars play after I've given them a fret job, but there's no way I can match a Plek machine, and I'm looking sideways at the only guitar I have that I wouldn't do a fret job on. That's a Schecter C-1 Élite that just turned "vintage" this year. I just love its setup, even though I had nothing to do with it and don't think I can really improve it. Could a Plek do better? It is so funny that this is your most beloved guitar coz i used to have basically the same model. Smaller cutaway, 3 knobs before rebrand MIJ and that guitar sucked ass... :D :D :D I mean it was ok. But had extreme tuning issues on low strings (seemed more like problem of the construction than tuners) neck felt wabbly and soft and i also hated tone of it. It had a ton of lower mids and bass (even with EMGs in it that surpress bass and add higher mids) and it just didn't cut trough in any feaking mix... i was so happy when i got rid of it, cause my other 2 EC1000s are just so much better guitars) Funny enough i got myself an EC1000 vintage black since (cause i missed the color) and it has no tuning issues as the ESP used to have, but the "darkness" of tone persists :D it just lacks higher midrange compared to everything else i have. It feels good playing at home in bedroom, but in band situation or in mix. It just sucks a bit :D

Maybe an unpopular opinion. I like the E II logo more than the script ESP logo
