  • A walk in Brookyn through DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park. DUMBO is an acronym for "Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass" and is a neighborhood which has transformed dramatically throughout the past 20 years. Brooklyn Bridge Park is my favorite park in the city, with stunning views of Manhattan and access to ferries across the East River.

Back in the 1960s this was a light manufacturing neighborhood with factories making cardboard boxes for home appliances and a beer brewery.

The carousel is an old Philadelphia toboggan company model moved from Ohio in 1984 but the carousel was built in 1922. The horses are older than that as they are hand carved and painted by hand. The illustrations on the entire thing are complete originals painted by artists. Modern carousels are quick printed on sheets of plastic and slid into place. You also look up and the original gears are in the roof which is extremely rare to see. The only thing that are not original are the lights and light fixtures which had to get changed due to newer bulbs being more efficient and advances in electricity. The control panel is new as it’s likely wired to the ride underneath as the old way was to start it up from the center of the ride. We don’t do that anymore. I know my amusement park rides and theme park rides and how they operate. Coney Island had the first dark ride on record which was lost to a fire. I know the exact site too it’s where the modern Luna Park is now but the remnants were pretty much buried under the tide of new construction. The first true roller coaster was the steeplechase ride which was also lost due to time. I know my history.

Brooklyn Pebble Beach 17:31 has always been my favourite beach in NYC. My sister brought me a 1000 piece puzzle of almost the same view 17:31. Love the glass elevator with the cool painting 23:06. Wow, the view from the top of the building 23:35 is amazing! I've been to NYC between 2014 to 2016 and I don't remember that building, was it even there or is it new? Love, love this video, thank you so much! Have a great day!👍🎃🚶‍♂️🏖

The building was always there, but it was only recently renovated and turned into a shopping mall.

I remember (years ago), that the only reason to get Dumbo was to walk back over the bridge. There was nothing there, mostly empty buildings.

The Jehovah's Witnesses world headquarters moved to Warwick, NY in Upstate. They left the sign there, but the new owner of that building was the one who took it down and replaced it with a new sign that says, "Welcome".
