      @@seancrandles5774 thats the whole purpose! By playing from the forward tees, you would be able to score lower. Lower score’s makes one nervous! Do this repetedly makes the subconscious less nervous. When we then play our normal tees, we most often dont get nervous with lower scores, cause we trained beeing low! This is more of a mentally training, than golf training….(but offcourse it is golf too).

      So is playing the back tees, so he can learn how to get a driver in play, then deliberately misclubbing and working on the up and down from missed greens. The point of this exercise to to become mentally acustomed to being 8 or more under par so when it happens for real you don't freak out, it's not about working on the short game.

    • @paulwags662
      @paulwags662 Před 10 měsíci

      Actually it's can be used for both or either. The exercise is not a one trick pony. For instance you aren't going to go low if you don't have a good short game.

  • @francoisdesmoulins-lebeaul4273
    @francoisdesmoulins-lebeaul4273 Před 10 měsíci +1

    It's a great exercise to beat these mental barriers. I've tried myself, and just couldn't get the score rolling (for some reason a putt for birdie is just so much harder than a putt of the same length for par). Congrats, you seem on the good path... Just keep on doing that, you'll keep on improving!

  • @laxduck
    @laxduck Před 10 měsíci +5

    Makes all the sense in the world to play from reds to work on scoring. It is just creating game-like scoring scenarios more frequently, same as running fast breaks in basketball/lacrosse. You practice fast breaks lots because the focus is to convert when you have those chances at very high rates. And when you practice it, you look for opportunities in game to create those scenarios. Same principles apply here, don’t understand why some people in the golf world have issues with it.

    You still have to make the shots yes and it’s a confidence booster for sure. The only thing you’re doing wrong, is not giving your best on shortish putts. Do everything possible to make it through your routine and accept the result, simple as that. You see the line and trust it. You can’t do any more than that. Sometimes you’re wrong but mostly it comes from feel on how hard to hit it. That’s an art, not necessarily a skill. See it in your minds eye and let it go. Conscious confidence.

    Great content as always. Been watching how you putt for quite some time now. Would definitely suggest getting some slow mo's from DTL and watch how your head moves through your stroke and how it effects the face and direction the club takes. Your head actually moves a few inches up and back through the stroke, causing some fundamental flaws. Would highly suggest doing some reps like Tiger talked about where he would do the gate drill and never watch the ball to the hole, he would just listen for the ball to drop in the cup; his main focus being keeping the body and head silent. I think it could clean things up a bit without getting things too complex, keep up the good work!

    Good video Micha. Do what works to help you improve your game. I liked another suggestion made here, and that is to eliminate the drive and just place the ball randomly on or near the desired landing zone. Sometimes in the fairway, in the rough, or in the trees to work on the approach shots, chip and pitch, and putting. You're doing the right things for you and that's what matters.

    Big thing you can see is Micah is swinging with great tempo. From the reds he doesn’t need to over power the course so he swings smoother and easier. It’s easy to sit on the back tees and think you have to rip your driver and that can create some bad habits. Swing looked good in this video!

    Great video Tig and nice work on the -10 score. No need for me to comment on the benefits because many have already said this.
    I have a suggestion as another challenge for you and opportunity area for you to consider. If you are playing a Tour length course, many of the shots that you hit in this video from 30-60 yards from the green really don’t happen that often during a normal tour round with courses measuring from 7200-7700 yards. What I would suggest is taking that concept of the normal landing zone in your video. Don’t hit the tee shot, but instead go and start the hole from the normal landing zone. Maybe consider the usual landing area as a 50 yard spread and drop it in the front, middle, or back of this area then play in from there. Reduce your par on a par 72 course and make it a par 54. When you start getting around from there in 4-5 strokes under par then you’re simulating 2nd shot conditions in a tour event and this is where you get benefit.
    Not taking anything away from what you did here and definitely helps the ego and being comfortable with the low number… I hope you understand what I’m getting at here and hope it makes sense. I think many of us on your channel want the very best for you. Keep on putting in the work and great things will happen. Wishing you the very best Micah.

    Like the video! This proves that the better your long game (not short game) the better you score. If your drives are longer and straighter and you have shorter approaches, you will score better. Yes Tig made some putts but nothing way out of the ordinary. The big difference was a better long game; by way of automatically being much closer on every hole. Tour pros miss 50% of putts from 8 feet. But the more 8 footers you get during a round, the better you score. What’s the best way to do that? Hit the ball farther and straighter.

    speaking as a performance coach, it may be worth mentioning that narrating your mental battle may also elicit a recency effect on your movement patterns. It's like how you try not to say "don't hit it right" and what your brain remembers is "hit it right". I get that it's for the video, but I imagine this will always be an issue because of the expectations you're placing on yourself to execute at such a high level while in the public eye. I enjoy watching you climb the ladder. I did my best to inventory your round. I apologize if I got anything wrong. When you were to the left of the hole you made 5 pars, 2 birdies, and 2 bogeys. When you were to the right of the hole you made 4 pars, 4 birdies, and 1 eagle. The old Jack Nicklaus adage is to always be to the right and below the hole to give yourself an uphill putt that breaks right to left, the natural putt trajectory. Scott Fawcett, the statistics guy, said no pro consistently leaves himself putts that go downhill to the right. I wish you the best.

    Man I think this Red Tees drill should definitely be in your weekly practice routine at least 2 times a week or more. Probably would need to also play at least 1 round from back tees to balance it out. But I think scoring is a weakness that this drill will just cure in a snap. Couple weeks of this even and then stop, it would do wonders.

    Hey Micah. Congratulations for you great round! I have a question: When u play in the US the different courses are there big differences between the speed of the greens? Or are they pretty similar? Here in Germany every course is total different. So it‘s really hard to play consistent golf on different courses….
    Kind regards

    Take a note., whenever you click the club. and you hear the clicking sound. Try to minimize it .Try to soundless and smooth. as possible. OK, and you will get that hole. Whenever you got the birdie here on this video, that's exactly what you did. You don't even realizing. That smooth, yet powerful pushing motion. Great video anime thanks.

    You should do a Bustajack graduation type series where you have to shoot -1 below your handicap on that set of tees ….I.e -4(red), -2(white), -1(blue)& even from tips
