Love the contrast of tones, representing 2 facets of life via mysterious instrumentation... Thanks for watching! 🥰
That's all JPJ on the keys!! JPJ plays bass with his feet when on the keys!
Also try NO Quarter...you will LOVE IT!
Want ballads? Try Thank you and The Rain Song! Beautiful songs!
Great choice ! This song is about as ‘ Zeppelinesque ‘ as they get. One of many excellent gems from those guys that never received much airplay. A real dark horse and easily one of their finest.
Thanks Steve! Agree. It's so great discovering the deeper cuts of bands I know already. Sometimes they are better than the huge hits! Loving the journey so far.
Dude do live when you can, that’s how you really appreciate these great bands!
Dude you have to start the from the begging! The GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jimmy calls it light and shade.
My favorite Led “ballad” that I think you’d appreciate is “I’m Gonna Crawl.”
Hi Alicia. Cool, will add it to my list, thank you!
Excellent. One of those tracks that makes decent headphones pay off!
👁🎸🤘
For sure! Thanks as always!
Once again; thank you for the high fidelity and allowing us to control the volume
You're welcome! And thank you again...
HERE WE GO EVERYBODY IT’S THE GOATS WITH MY FAVORITE REACTOR!!! Luv it bro!! Thank you
Mister Brandon is BY FAR the best and smart YT reactor, and also the number. 1 as background decorator 🧐
Hey Joshua! Thanks so much for that awesome compliment!! Thanks for being first today as well ☺ 🥇
Thanks so much my friend! It's so nice to hear that...very motivating believe me! 🙂
My ears are telling me that John is using a Farfisa Combo Organ here on this track. BTW, without him the dirigible would likely have NOT gained its famed cruising altitude. Without any one of em actually but he was the one with the most musical training of the four.
I remember reading JJ Tolkien to this. I always lved this song.
i remember tripping hard to this song ,man i thought i was just me who heard these weird sounds it brings me back and i remember this wow i was really tripping balls i remember this and wow was out trippin balls then man i miss the 80s
😁
Two of my favorite slower songs by Zeppelin are That’s the Way and Ten Years Gone. People always say The Rain Song, which is, of course, gorgeous , but I thought I would mention two slightly deeper cuts.
Both definitely on the list...came close to doing 10 Years and a few others. So hard to choose sometimes. I'm sure I'll do 10 Years or Battle of Evermore on the next go around. Really curious though about Carouselambra and that hot dog song LOL...Thanks for watching!
@@retroreactions.... Both are magnificent! You will love them both!
Will add your votes, but were you referring to That's and Ten, or Carousel and Hot Dog?
@@retroreactions.... think you were asking Julie, yes? But I will weigh in nevertheless. I would not describe Hot Dog as “magnificent”. It is a fun nod at rockabilly, which both Jimmy and Robert loved. As a matter of fact, Hot Dog is one cut that allot of Zep fans love to hate. I don’t hate it, but I sure don’t think that much of it. The guys in Zep look at it as a lark. I would not disagree with that characterization. 😏
@@retroreactions.... when it first came out, Battle of Evermore was my favorite Zeppelin song because I was SO into folk music! If you do it, might I suggest a “double-shot”? Do the album version, and then do the live one from the Page/Plant Tour with a British Indian singer doing the Sandy Denny part……giving it an Eastern vibe. So different.
Heck Yeah!!!!!! This song rocks HARD!!! And with Kashmir being my favorite, this has to be close second.
OOOh nice! Glad you enjoyed my pick!!
You are doing more than just reacting to videos. Your actually doing a history study of rock and roll. Or music in general. For those who watch everyday, like i do.
Really nice to hear it put that way..thanks Renee
Your Welcome. That is why it kind of makes me mad to see a comment that is dissing your picks. It's your freaking channel. And you pay respect to ALL genres. So good for you!!!!!
Yup, Rob Squad reacts to so many genres and look how far they have gotten...so clearly the broad genre range can work in the long run (plus their personalities)... but I knew going into this that every channel will get negative comments, just part of it all. Surprisingly I've gotten very few of them in comparison to the many thousands of awesome beautiful comments I've received. I will eternally be grateful for all that support and positivity (you being a BIG part of that!)
My beloved LZ, nothing to say ❤️🥰
The album, Physical Graffiti, was released during my senior year of high school. This song in particular became one of my favorites on the album. I remember many evenings lying on my bed, listening to this song through my headphones. Love it. Hard to believe that was 48 years ago.
Hi, thanks for sharing and watching! Time does fly...
This is why Jimmy Page is called the Lord of the dark strings! Pages dark cords along with John Paul Jones erie horror movie synthesizer effects!
Love the drone-like feeling of a lot of the song. Almost feels like something from a spiritual context.
Completely...their creative side really shining here!
A stunning deep track Zepic…
The weird sounds at the beginning are made by attaching a device called a Gizmotron to the guitar. It has small, rotating wheels that rub against the strings, causing them to continually drone. Invented by former members of the band 10cc. Godley and Crème is the name of the duo. They put out several albums featuring the Gizmotron, and had some excellent art rock albums in the late seventies/early eighties.

Cool, never knew of that device before. Thanks for the info and for watching!
@@retroreactions.... Godley and Crème had a huge hit called “Cry” about 1985. The video was all over Mtv. You may recognize that one. They were a lot bigger in England than in the US, I think.
I didn’t appreciate this as a teenager back then as much as I really enjoyed this and your reaction was insightful.
I just love the Physical Graffiti album. So many textural elements through the entire album. Page and Plant both spoke about how much they loved this song, in fact Plant stated that this song was one of LZ’s “finest moments. Enjoyed your review and song interpretation as always. Thx. 👍
One of three Zep studio tracks where Jimmy bowed the guitar with a cello bow....the other two being Dazed and Confused, and How Many More Times.
Don't know that answer, Willy....I'm going to look for that answer.
Nope. In this song he had a Gizmotron attached to his guitar.
Wiki says it was a bow and acoustic guitar..
@mark you continue to post this misinformation on multiple channels. Jimmy used a Gizmotron on the song: In The Evening. The opening of this track includes Jimmy bowing a guitar.
Wee bit of " Kashmir " echoes here, which is a good thing-a wee bit of prog never hurts. John Paul Jones being the primary writer is not a surprise. Led Zepp displays their usual greatness elsewhere, John(RIP) Bonham's drums kicking in at the end was just right
Hi Michael, great wee mini review! Thank you as always..
ROCKS
Yes! Thanks for watching.
Gotta love their diversity! Try Kashmir live 1979 at knebworth...killer!!
For sure...from this to Stairway to Levee to Kashmir to Black Dog, etc. Thanks Julie!
Love the thumbnail!!!!
Thanks! You know I just had to!!
Great week of picks. You are the best!!!!!!🥰
I try hard, thanks....except the more new artists I add, the more time in between repeat artists 🙃 Diversity is good though!! Channel be going strong in 2073!!!
That's nice,i won't be here.🤣🤣🤣
I have 3 baby tomato growing!!!!! Wish i had cigars!!!
Great choice today bud, I’ve been hoping you’d get to this one. I too love “the exotic” intro as you described. It’s one of my favorites from Physical Graffiti, although there are lots of other great ones. I know you’re familiar with “Kashmir”. I’ll be looking forward to Floyd Friday… are you going to sneak out another today?
Yes, your past comment helped me decide on today's Zep! Nope just one today...still not on the proper filming schedule 😕 and evening releases are almost guaranteed not to do well...another big one on Saturday I think! 🙂
I’m glad my suggestion tipped the scales to pick this song! Lol I know you would have liked more synth, but it is a rockin’ song. I only brought up about a second video because you’ve surprised me several times before, when you release a little earlier. As far as release time, I’ll be there to watch whenever it’s out. You’ve got me intrigued about what to expect Saturday.
Thanks bud.....well, about Saturday, let's just say you've suggested it in the past....OK I know that doesn't help you know what song it'll be 🤣🤣
This is what "Within You Without You" would probably have sounded like, or at least something similar, if the Beatles had recorded this song almost ten years later.
“Physical Graffiti” certainly doesn't contain the band's best songs, but there are a few tracks worth listening to. "In The Light" is one of them.
This seems to have a very "sitar" feeling to it. Is it influenced by The Beatles sortie into Guru Spirituality? I don't think so, but there is a feel of it in the intro.
Hmmm, I can see that, but can't remember if Led were influenced by Beatles. I'd guess that almost every 70s rock band was to a degree. Thanks for watching Tony!
I am curious... why did you choose this Zepp song in particular lol
Well….here are some reasons at least I for one suggested it; slower…which Brandon appreciates; heavy synth at beginning, which he loves; eastern vibe, which I thought he would find interesting; dark, mysterious vibe, which he loves.
How’s that?
Yes, basically all that, and of course you were spot on with your prediction...😊
Several reasons... longer songs intrigue me because usually we get more great musical moments. And as Helene said, she and a few others gave past comments about this song which sold me pretty quickly to choose it!
@@retroreactions.... It would be great if you do a full Zepp albums reaction, as you did with Genesis and PF, at least... from Zepp I to Houses of the Holy, song by song , ZERO... ZERO time lost, every second of those 5 records, is platinum.
Hmmm, something to think about. Since they don't have a weekly spot, I'd probably have to do a full album reaction at once. Don't know if those get blocked though...
