    • @kenofken9458
      @kenofken9458 Před 3 měsíci

      We are not even in the same galaxy of economic structure or policies as Zimbabwe. Americans have no concept of what hyperinflation means. Our worst annual inflation in decades was 2022 at 8.3%. We have people freaking out because February's inflation was four tenths of one percent. Hyperinflation is defined as 50% or more month over month. Zimbabwe's inflation rate was almost 80 BILLION percent a month at its peak.
      Zimbabwe not only is not economically comparable to the United States, it is a stretch to call what they have an economy at all. At the time their inflation took off, the nation's only productive sector that made any hard currency was agriculture, and that collapsed when farms were seized and turned over to revolutionary loyalists who didn't know the first thing about farming.
      So the country had essentially zero production or real wealth of any kind and responded to that by printing mountains of paper notes of pretend money with dozens of zeros in the denominations to make it look valuable. It literally was not worth the paper and ink used to create it.
      The dollar, for all of the panic, remains the world's most desired reserve currency, by far. It is also strong relative to most of its peer currencies right now.
      Today, Zimbabwe's GDP is smaller than that of Vermont. That's right. Vermont with something like 600,000 people generates far more than Zimbabwe does with 16 million.

    Inflation is going to occur regardless of whether or not we want to happen.But the rate at which it happens is what is being affected right now. Unless prices come down with deflation, there will always be inflation, just wont rise in cost *as quickly.*
