What Can Human Beings’ Oldest Known Relative Tell Us About How Our Bodies Function?
The oldest living relative to human beings is the primate called Australopithecus.
Anthropologists have nicknamed this early primate “Lucy.”
What do we know about Lucy?
Her diet consisted of meat. Because that’s what her body was engineered to consume.
She also consumed certain quantities of leafy green vegetables because, as omnivores, our bodies could convert the nutrients in those vegetables to usable power.
Fast forward to our modern landscape.
Walk into any modern grocery store. What do you see?
On average, forty thousand items … most of them processed, processed, processed.
Meaning they’ve been bleached, boiled, cooked, brined, or otherwise treated.
Their nutrients have been stripped out, a ton of chemicals have been added.
Perhaps worst of all, almost every single one of them has been “enriched” with sugar.
Which our bodies don’t know how to process because they were never engineered to do that.
My name is Dr. Richard Jacoby.
I’m a podiatrist and one of the foremost peripheral nerve surgeons in the world.
I’m also the author of the critically acclaimed book, “Sugar Crush.”
My book-indeed my entire life’s work-is geared at exploring how sugar has taken over our diets.
And how an abundance of sugar in our diets has led to the explosion of chronic diseases now plaguing our populace.
From what I’ve seen, it’s time to cut sugar out of our diets-immediately!
    You might be wondering how.
You might be wondering more about the specifics involved with my work: the scientific basis for my proclamations.
Good. That’s exactly what you should be doing.
To help you navigate this new paradigm, I’ve created a new online course called, The Urban Carnivore.
You can find it at my website: drjacoby.academy.
I hope you’ll check it out.
Because it might just save your life.

54 yo woman, ketovore (95% carnivore) for 4 years. Cured IBS, arthritis, gum disease, acne, gas/bloating, hair loss, high BP, even helped cure breast cancer! Eat 1 to 2 meals a day, rarely hungry, I'm lean and on no meds. I still can't believe I fell for the low fat high grain 'healthy' diet BS, and worse, the plant based BS, that was making me increasingly sick. I've also lost all faith in doctors who still tell me my diet is killing me.

63yo Australian man. Carnivore for 8mths. Lost 70lbs. Cured arthritis, ibs, gastric reflux, depression, anxiety, prostate problems, joint pain, sleep apnoea, t2 diabetes, inflammation, kicked all my heart meds. Back into the workplace now shaming guys half my age. This has been genuinely disconcerting as to how effective it has been, and downright disturbing as to it being the complete opposite of conventional medical advice.

Great video! I used to be hungry ALL the time, and couldn't imagine going to two meals a day, let alone one, and no snacks! After going carnivore I found I was satiated and not hungry ALL the time!! Lost over 80 pounds down to my normal weight, and healed so many health problems! I'm almost 72 and no longer type 2 diabetic, pain from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are mostly gone, pain from 5 spinal fusions is minimal, anxiety and depression are gone, and I am now off 7 of my 11 long term prescriptions and reducing the remaining ones!! Meat and eggs are healing, while sugar and carbs are destroying health!! Appreciate you so much! God bless you!

Awesome. Im 63yo Australian man. It has been 9mths for me, and im still astonished as to the healing power of this diet. Ive returned to the workplace, and I am shaming guys half my age. My energy is boundless, and I live on mainly one meal a day. My list of cures reads surprisingly similar to yours. Ive tried to reintroduce some foods, but straight away im reaching back for the antacids. I do so well on a fatty steak a day only. Good luck to you!

He is speaking my experience also. I started carnivore at age 52 and lost 65 lbs so far. I break away and eat what I want from thanksgiving through the end of January and am able to maintain my weight and then I return to carnivore with some whole veg. I had no issues other than weight to lose and inflammation. The inflammation was gone by week 3 and now that I’m essentially detoxed, too, the carbs don’t call my name. I don’t care that I’m not eating breads or cookies. I seriously am surprised that I don’t miss them! I wish I’d known this when I was 16, not 52! I’m teaching my teen daughter.

Well said, Sir. Since I discovered the natural human diet a couple of years ago I have lost weight at the same rate as my health has improved. The only problem I have is persuading friends, relatives and colleagues to do the same. They all remain sceptical and refuse to give up their sugar-laden and carb-laden foods. I have a theory that eating sugar is also the main cause of the exponential (and seemingly unstoppable) rise in human stupidity. Carnivores are, in the main, sensible people, healthy in body and mind. Carb-consumers are quite the opposite. The evidence for this is presented daily.

Is it that you can't sleep or that you can fall asleep but then wake up wide awake? If it's the later, look up biphasic sleep patterns, it's historically quite normal so it looks like eating as our ancestors did also helps us sleep like them.

Some people find drinking a glass of milk before bed helps. Others find having a couple of tablespoons of fat helps. I don't tolerate carbs, so I don't drink milk, but I can say that the nights where I have a cup of broth with butter before bed I seem to sleep longer and more sound. It might not work for you but it's worth a try, especially if you don't feel like biphasic sleeping works well for your current life and schedule.
If you're not opposed to supplements I also find taking magnesium glycinate, valerian root, and tart cherry extract before bed to really improve my sleep.

I'm sure they don't know yet how diet can affect carpal tunnel, or a host of other things that I've either experienced relief from or heard others had healed from eating carnivore. I certainly don't know how eating carnivore can put decades of mental illness into complete remission, but it has for many, including myself. And I REALLY can't understand how carnivore would cure an almost life-long phobia of bees and wasps, to the point I couldn't spend time outside most of the year, but about a year and a half into carnivore I realized I no longer had that phobia. Sure, I'm still scared to get stung, but when I'm outside and see a wasp or bee I can carry on with whatever I'm doing instead of about killing myself trying to get back inside. Personally, I don't really care how or why it works. I'm just thankful that it does.

where do you get vitamin C and other important vitamins on carnivore???

    • @rule870
      @rule870 Před 3 měsíci +2

      From meat and eggs.
Glucose competes with Ascorbic Acid for the Glut 4 receptors, so carb-eaters need lots of vitamin C, even supplemented, to reach the Glut-4 receptors not taken up by glucose. If you eat meat with bread (sandwich), you will risk scurvy if Vitamin C is not supplemented.
Eat carnivore, ZERO glucose, scurvy is impossible.
Meat was the traditional CURE for scurvy, "back in the day".

    • @HappilyCarnivore
      @HappilyCarnivore Před 3 měsíci

I agree with what @rule870 said, but they forgot to mention that meat does have a small amount of vitamin C in it. I'm not sure why it's listed as zero vitamin C because that's absolutely not accurate. There's even more in liver, but there are many of us that don't eat organs and still none of us have gotten scurvy.
Meat also contains all other required vitamins and minerals, and what you find in meat is much more bioavailable than what you find in plants. Partly because it contains more bioavailable forms of vitamins and minerals, and partly because plants contain anti-nutrients that bind with many of these things and make them very hard for our body to absorb.
For years I took a ton of supplements because my body didn't seem to absorb those things from the food I ate. In fact, most vegetables just passed through me completely undigested. I still take some supplements on carnivore (been eating this way 2 1/2 years just fyi), but I take FAR less supplements now than I did when I was eating loads of vegetables, and I'm slowly cutting out more and more.

In fact the consensus seems to be that the diet was food from the Ethiopian Savannah , grasses, fruits, leaves, and such. At a little over 3 feet tall, with no substantial fangs or claws, Lucy would have been hard pressed to acquire meat.

@@donpowers8726 Lucy had a brain and height approximately the size of a chimp. Intelligent compared to many animals, but unlikely enough to make her into a mighty hunter. Fossil records show teeth that are flatter with thicker enamel than chimps, with wear patterns consistent with eating relatively hard foods like nuts, seeds, or tubers, and also grasses and leaves. May have eaten some meat, but almost certainly not to the degree that this Jacoby fellow states, implying that meat was a centerpiece and staple of her diet - so therefore we should all focus on eating meat, he says ... gee, does anyone sense an agenda there? Lol

@@tspicks4360 You do realize that in the same area they found tools just as old as Lucy that they believe were used to cut and eat meat. That is what the researchers said. This also lines up with some of the oldest stable Isotope studies show on what early humans and our oldest ancestors ate. Predominately meat.

@@tspicks4360 This is from the research you are talking about -
"That could include grass seeds and underground roots, and even termites or small, scavenged animals, although the exact composition of the diet still remains a mystery." They are making it clear they do not really know at this point in history they simply know their diet changed.
"Twenty years ago, we might have guessed, based mainly on the savanna settings in which early hominins evolved, that they depended increasingly on grassy foods or on creatures that ate grasses.
You are looking at the starting point of early ancestors eating meat. As many of the stable Isotope studies after this point show.

@@musicsnob08 So even the segment you quote is in line with what I've already said on Lucy's diet, "... grass, seeds, and underground roots, and even termites or small, scavenged animals, although the exact composition of the diet still remains a mystery." Yep. A far cry from Jacoby's full-stop assertion that "She ate meat," going on to assert that therefore we should avoid all carbohydrates, Right, no logical gaps there :).
The fact is there was no single diet among our early ancestors, they had to eat what they could get, depending on where they were. "Opportunistic feeders", as they say. Fossil records looking at Lucy's teeth show the sort of wear, and tooth construction, consistent with eating harder foods than her predecessors, such as nuts, seeds, roots, etc.- so yeah, a dietary change from her predecessors, reflected in her anatomy (teeth). Jacoby is making sweeping declarations based on scant evidence, much of which points in the opposite direction of what he claims.

Note also that The lifespan af Man greatly diminished from as much as 969 years (Methusala) to seldom more than 100 years. But killing animals to eat them is an OPTION.
